Chapter 226 Arriving in Beijing, Moving into a Courtyard House

The monkey scratched its head and grinned helplessly at them, "Brother Jing, sister-in-law, I'm not very bright, I really can't figure it out. You guys think of something, you guys think of something."

Hou Xiaolian lowered her head shyly: "I'm uneducated and can't figure this out. Sister Xia, you're a college student, so please give it to me!"

Chen Qiuyu chuckled but didn't dare to speak, only looking at Chen Jing with pleading eyes.

Ji Xiaxing glared at Chen Jing with some displeasure: "Don't try to shirk your responsibility, you also have a share in this workshop."

"Yes, you're right. I have a share in this workshop. I'll think about it carefully, I'll think about it right away!"

Chen Jing didn't dare to refuse, and readily agreed with a smile, using the excuse of thinking of a name to sit back on his own bed.

Fortunately, my brothers and sisters came with me to the capital this time, otherwise I don't know how I would have passed the time.

He's quick-witted and good at dealing with people. If you ask him to run sales, get orders, and make friends, he'll do a great job.

But when it comes to naming her, A-Xia really thinks too highly of her.

Because of this little incident, the journey time flew by.

The journey, which lasted fifty or sixty hours, passed quickly as the group played cards and tractor games.

Two days and three nights later, the train arrived at Beijing Railway Station at around 10 a.m.

Following the crowded flow of people, Hou Fang and Chen Jing, each carrying several large bags of luggage, shielded the three girls in the middle and slowly walked out of the train station.

Seeing the wide street and the dense traffic, the three young girls and boys who were leaving the commune for the first time were dumbfounded.

The monkey wiped the sweat from its brow with its sleeve and looked at Chen Jing with pleading eyes: "Brother Jing, Sister Xia, which way do we go?"

"Don't worry, just follow me. Let's find a car first."

Just as they were comforting each other, they suddenly heard someone at the entrance waving frantically at them: "Brother Jing, we're here! We're here!"

The group glanced over there, and Chen Jing couldn't help but smile: "Our brothers have arrived, we can rest assured now."

Wang Yuan and Zhao Hui, along with two henchmen, pushed through the crowd and ran towards them, their faces full of excitement.

"Brother Chen, you're finally back! We missed you so much!"

Ji Xia was shocked when she heard this. Whose classic line was this?

After three or four months apart, the playboy air that Wang Yuan and Zhao Hui had carried had completely vanished.

Wang Yuan sported a trendy 3/7 parted hairstyle popular in Hong Kong and Taiwan, wore a thin and breathable purple-gray short-sleeved shirt, and paired it with dark gray casual shorts, exuding a simple yet sophisticated vibe.

Zhao Hui, however, sported a clean-cut buzz cut, a simple dark blue short-sleeved T-shirt, and casual shorts. With his tall stature and stern, square face, he resembled a tough guy from a movie screen.

As for the other two underlings, they looked younger, like middle school students fresh out of school, with immature mustaches on their lips, and they looked at Chen Jing and Ji Xia's group with curiosity.

Chen Jing slapped Wang Yuan on the shoulder: "What nonsense are you spouting? I have a boyfriend, and I'm not interested in men."

"Hehe, Jing-ge, we're just expressing our feelings of longing."

As Wang Yuan spoke, he waved his hand behind him, and Zhao Hui and the two new underlings tactfully stepped forward to pick up Chen Jing's luggage.

"Let me introduce you, Brother Jing, Sister-in-law. These are our newly recruited underlings, Ah Xiong and Hua Hai. They've been wanting to meet you for a while now. Shall we head to the courtyard house by Houhai?"

Ji Xia nodded to his two underlings and smiled.

"Okay, brothers, you've worked hard today."

Chen Jing patted his two underlings on the shoulders and turned to Wang Yuan with a loud laugh: "Let's go to the courtyard house. It should be all ready by now, right?"

"It's all ready. That old man Lin has made the yard very beautiful, even the bathroom and toilet are like a palace. The well has been dug and the water pipes have been laid. It's very convenient. I guarantee you'll be happy staying here."

While helping them carry their luggage bags, Ahui led them outside the train station. It turned out they had called two taxis, which were just enough to take all nine of them.

Chen Jing and Ji Xia both smiled upon hearing this; the bathroom was finally ready, which was the most surprising and delightful thing for them.

The capital city in August was still as hot as a steamer. After carrying their luggage for only a short distance, the group was covered in sweat.

What's even more unpleasant is that they were cooped up on the train for two or three days, and the stench of their sweat was almost like they were being pickled.

With the well, water pipes, and bathroom installed in the courtyard house, Ji Xia felt like she could come back to life as soon as she got home and could take a bath.

Three friends visiting Beijing for the first time were as curious as country bumpkins visiting the grand garden when they saw the streets with at least eight lanes and the fashionable city people.

Chen Qiuyu leaned close to Ji Xia and whispered in her ear, "Are we not staying at the guesthouse this time?"

"No need. Ah Jing sent a telegram in advance, asking a few brothers to help find a big house. It can accommodate not only the few of us, but also thirty or forty more people."

"Such a big house? My God, isn't that many times bigger than the house back home?"

Upon hearing this, Ji Xia simply smiled faintly, a gentle smile spreading across her eyes.

If they knew that Chen Jing and I had spent tens of thousands of yuan to buy two courtyard houses in Beijing, I don't know how surprised they would be.

Twenty minutes later, the taxi dropped them off in front of a quiet alley near Houhai.

The group got out of the taxi with their luggage and walked into a quiet, secluded alley.

The dark gate, with its bronze door knocker adorned with animal carvings, was polished to a gleaming shine. The square gate and courtyard walls created a solemn and dignified atmosphere.

Chen Qiuyu and Hou Xiaolian were stunned by the solemn and classical atmosphere and quietly hid behind Ji Xia.

Chen Jing carried his luggage to the front gate, looked at the antique-style copper lock, and glanced back at Wang Yuan.

"Coming right away, let me look for the keys."

He took out a long, antique bronze key from his pouch, gently inserted it into the lock, and turned it. With a click, the imposing mansion gate opened.

Upon entering, one is greeted by a tall screen wall, with exquisitely carved reliefs on the wall and a few cursive characters written in a vigorous and flowing style, depicting the history and vicissitudes of the screen wall.

Turning past the screen wall, wooden corridors on the east and west sides form a circle, embracing the antique-style main house.

There is a hanging flower gate in the middle of the flower wall on the south side of the east and west wing rooms. Inside the gate are four wooden screens. Both the east and west wing rooms have covered corridors that connect to the hanging flower gate.

An old locust tree stands in the courtyard, its lush greenery a testament to the passage of time. A small bridge spans the center of the courtyard, where a stream meanders around the rockery, flowing gently into the depths of the garden, bringing a touch of coolness to the sweltering summer days.

Chen Qiuyu and Hou Xiaolian looked left and right, almost unable to move, and grabbed Ji Xia's arm with a mixture of surprise and delight, asking, "Is this where we live? It's so big! Is the rent expensive?"
