Chapter 241 Personalized Design

It seems there are quite a few smart people out there. Ji Xia and Chen Jing couldn't help but exchange a smile.

“The workshop has work to do. If you have suitable candidates, you can introduce them. Of course, you can only introduce one person per person, otherwise there won’t be enough parking spaces.”

"Sure, no problem."

The female workers cheered; there were plenty of other people around them looking for work.

Although the workshop was small, the owner was generous, the food was good, and the management was humane. When the employees talked about it with their families, many of them asked the owners to intercede on their behalf.

Ji Xia and Chen Jing ate together in the canteen every day. After they became familiar with each other, the female workers felt less in awe of the two of them and spoke more freely.

After dinner, the female workers washed their dishes, took a walk in the yard, watered the vegetables, rested for a while, and then went back to work.

Fortunately, before starting work, Chen Jing installed ten extra lights in each studio. As long as the lights are turned on, the lighting is sufficient, although it consumes a lot of electricity.

After dinner, Ji Xia and Qiu Yu took a walk in the yard. Several plots of land where vegetables had been planted had sprouted seedlings, which were growing quite well. Most of the fruit trees had survived and sprouted new leaves.

After looking around, she went to the warehouse and picked out two more colors of fabric to make a three-piece set for Jiang Qingci.

Jiang Qingci wanted the colors of autumn, so this time she chose a ginger yellow plaid fabric with a pure emerald green patchwork. Autumn can use ginger yellow as the surface and emerald green as the base color.

Summer is the opposite, with emerald green as the surface and ginger yellow as the base.

Although they had only known each other for less than two days, Ji Xia could tell that Jiang Qingci was quite lively and innocent, and even sewed large sunflowers on the green side as decoration.

Chen Qiuyu and Hou Xiaolian's eyes lit up: "Sister Xia, didn't you just make a three-piece set yesterday? Why did you make another one?"

Ji Xia took out thirty yuan and slapped it in front of Chen Qiuyu: "Put it in. This is for the three-piece set. My classmate asked me to make it for him."

"A three-piece set costs thirty? My god, that's such a good deal."

She calculated the cost, and the three-piece set cost about twenty yuan, which is higher than the profit margin for women's clothing.

Ji Xia looked up and gave her a charming smile: "This is my exclusive design, one of a kind, and I made it myself. So what if it's thirty yuan?"

Chen Qiuyu and Hou Xiaolian exchanged a glance; they should definitely fulfill the bedding order.

After finishing the three-piece set, Ji Xia ironed it flat, folded it neatly, and put it in a bag. Then she took out her notes from today's lessons to do her homework.

Around ten o'clock, Ji Xia changed to another book. Chen Jing, unable to bear it any longer, snatched the book from her hand and grabbed her groin with one hand: "Wife, have you forgotten something?"

"I haven't forgotten. It'll be ready soon. Go take a shower and come back to wait for me."

"I'll wait for you to take a shower together."

Chen Jing mischievously pinched his clothes with both hands, gritted his teeth, and kissed his ear twice: "You said the time after ten o'clock was mine."

Ji Xia spat shyly and put away her books and notes.

When the three-piece bedding set was returned to the dormitory, Jiang Qingci was still huddled in bed talking in her sleep. Ji Xia braved the cold and reached her hand into the blankets, only to be startled and scream.

"Get up! Everyone else has already eaten breakfast, why aren't you up yet?"

Ji Xia placed the three-piece bedding set on her desk as she spoke: "I've finished making the three-piece bedding set for you. Take a look and see if you're satisfied."

Jiang Qingqiu sat up with a yawn, looked out the window, and then looked back at Ji Xia's thin coat.

"You're even wearing a coat? It looks really nice. Is it that cold today?"

"It was a bit chilly in the morning, and my hands were quite cold while riding my bike. It gets a bit cold in the mornings and evenings in Beijing in September, while back in my hometown I was still wearing short sleeves in October."

As Ji Xia spoke, she took off her coat and hung it on the wardrobe rack: "Isn't it nice? I designed this autumn outfit last year, and I think it's pretty good too. It accentuates a slim waist and shows off your figure. It's just right now because it's a bit chilly in the mornings and evenings."

She turned around and tidied up her textbooks, finishing the homework she hadn't completed the night before the deadline.

Rong Ruoshi and Liu Yujuan brought back a packed breakfast: "Ji Xia, you're here so early. Qing Ci, your breakfast is here."

Jiang Qingci responded, drew the bed curtains to change her clothes, and took her water cup, toothbrush, and toothpaste to the bathroom on the third floor to wash her face and brush her teeth.

Rong Ruoshi placed the breakfast on the table and was surprised to see the three-piece bedding set on it: "This is a three-piece bedding set ordered by Qingci? So fast? Let me see what color it is?"

When Jiang Qingci returned, Rong Ruoshi couldn't wait to ask him what was wrong. She then took the three-piece set apart and unfolded it, and was surprised.

"The yellow plaid and emerald green go quite well together. Is this fine cotton? The fabric is nice, Qingci, do you like it?"

"I like it, it's so good."

Jiang Qingci flipped through it several times: "A-Xia, which one is the surface and which one is the bottom?"

"Anything is fine, it's up to you. In summer, green is the cover and yellow checkered is the base; in winter, yellow checkered is the cover and green is the base. Isn't that a pleasant surprise?"

"My God, what were you thinking? You actually came up with a plan."

Jiang Qingci beamed with joy, wishing he could lay it out immediately.

Three weeks passed in the blink of an eye, and Ji Xia had adapted to life at the art academy.

Every morning I draw sketches, then line drawings. I heard that next month it will be watercolor and fine brushwork. In the afternoons, I study theoretical knowledge. Every day is very fulfilling.

Compared to other universities, art students tend to be more free-spirited, and quite a few live off-campus. Ji Xiatian, for example, arrives early and leaves late every day.

Art academies place greater emphasis on aesthetics, so art students do not have school uniforms, and many fashion design students make their own clothes.

After learning about this, Ji Xia used the excuse of seeking advice to find students from the previous two years of the fashion design department. She also found two design students with similar tastes and decent skills, and obtained several design drawings from them, which she sent to Chen Jing and Ji Xiangjun respectively.

Seeing Ji Xia ask design drafts from students two years ahead of her at the design institute, Liu Yujuan felt even more eager. She went to the library to study every day, and after a few weeks, she tried to draw out her inspiration.

She felt that her first attempt at drawing a rendering was somewhat unsatisfactory, so she sought advice from Ruoshi and Qingci.

She drew a white three-quarter sleeve shirt for autumn, a short style with exaggerated puff sleeves at the shoulders, the length ending at the waist, paired with a puffy princess skirt.

Rong Ruoshi looked at the rendering she had drawn, and then at her expectant eyes: "It's pretty good, but I study traditional Chinese painting and don't know much about fashion design. Why don't we ask Ji Xia at noon?"

Jiang Qingci, having seen more of the world, tilted her head and pondered for a moment: "It just feels a bit exaggerated. The sleeves are a bit outrageous, and the proportions are a bit off. Do you think anyone would wear sleeves like these?"

Liu Yujuan was somewhat dejected, but still responded.

When Ji Xia first saw it, she couldn't help but exclaim, "Is that a formal dress? Does the school have some kind of celebration for National Day?"

She suddenly remembered that this year is 1979, the 30th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China is coming soon, will the school have a celebration?
