With this in mind, Chen Jing readily accepted the Xie brothers' invitation and went with them to the Donglaishun mutton hot pot restaurant.
Jiang Yizhi had arrived earlier and booked a private room and ordered the dishes. She was cooking lamb offal in the room when she saw the three of them arrive and couldn't help but chuckle.
"You've finally arrived. I've cooked quite a lot of the ingredients. Please sit down; it's almost ready to eat."
"Perfect timing, this damn weather is freezing, it's the perfect time to eat something to warm up."
Xie Xun took off his leather gloves and the scarf around his neck as he spoke, and quickly pulled out a chair for Chen Jing: "Come on, Brother Jing, sit between us. We can talk about something."
Beside the steaming hot pot, as the group talked, their breath formed clouds of white mist that mingled with the steam rising from the pot.
Chen Jing smiled and responded, patting the snowflakes off his shoulders at the door and taking off his scarf and gloves.
"To be honest, I've never worn one of these in the South, but I've worn them all in the capital."
Jiang Yizhi chuckled: "What's a little snow now? It'll melt almost as soon as it hits the ground. It'll get really bad closer to the New Year, when the heavy snow will reach at least to your calves, and you won't be able to wear short boots."
"It's so cold! Looks like I'll have to go back to my hometown for the New Year. I was thinking of not going back at all."
Chen Jing generously sat down between Xie An and Xie Xun, took the milky white mutton soup handed to him by Jiang Yizhi, and took a big gulp.
"In such cold weather, a sip of hot mutton soup is just so comforting."
He let out a long sigh of relief before turning around: "Brother An, Brother Xun, did you finish planning your strategy by asking me to come here today?"
