Chapter 21 Zhenzhen, I don't mind thanking you in a different way
Shen Zhen straddled Yu Shu, her long fingers slowly unbuttoning her collar, her eyelashes trembling slightly. "Yu Shu, can you please not be so good to me? I'm afraid... I won't be able to bear it when you ask me to leave..."
Shen Zhen's voice was pleading, her expression sorrowful, and she leaned softly against Yu Shu's chest, like a puppy abandoned by its owner.
Yu Shu sighed softly, his hand stroking the back of Shen Zhen's head, his dark eyes unfathomable. "Shen Zhen, do you really not understand?"
Shen Zhen's eyes shone with a hint of sadness, she looked extremely aggrieved, and she bit Yu Shu's lip, her voice soft yet urgent, "A Shu, I don't understand why you're so good to me, I might misunderstand and think you still love me..."
Yu Shu tilted her head back, letting the woman move haphazardly over her body, sighing inwardly. Wasn't her meaning obvious? What about Shen Zhen? How much sincerity did she have in being with her now? If it weren't for family troubles and financial pressures, would Shen Zhen still be with her? Yu Shu didn't know, and she dared not gamble.
Yu Shu's eyes flickered with emotions that Shen Zhen couldn't understand. Seeing that she didn't answer, Shen Zhen felt disappointed and thought she was ridiculous for always wanting more from Yu Shu.
Shen Zhen silently tried to get off Yu Shu, but Yu Shu held her waist firmly, his expression serious. "Shen Zhen, you have to tell me what you want."
Shen Zhen struggled slightly, "Would it do any good if I told you?"
Yu Shu stared at her intently. "Shen Zhen, how am I supposed to know what you're thinking if you don't tell me? I want you to tell me your own story, not have someone else relay it to me."
Shen Zhen trembled slightly, those unpleasant memories flooding her senses, her heart pounding. The person she loved still wanted to understand her after all these years.
Seeing that she hadn't spoken for a long time, Yu Shu flipped her over and pinned her down, whispering seductively, "Zhenzhen, you said you wrote so many stories, are we in them?"
Shen Zhen turned her head away, not daring to look her in the eye, and stammered, "No...no...why are you asking this?"
"Really?" Yu Shu smiled, her thin lips parting slightly as she continued, enunciating each word clearly, "The Regent wants to pamper his wife every day, he's so domineering..."
Shen Zhen immediately covered Yu Shu's mouth with her hand. These words, slowly escaping her lips, made Shen Zhen blush and feel her toes curl up in embarrassment. If Yu Shu continued, Shen Zhen felt she could dig out a three-bedroom apartment...
Shen Zhen pleaded, "Please, stop. With you in the story, every protagonist has your shadow. I admit I can't forget you. I secretly add a happy ending to every story, and I try my best to incorporate your image into every character."
Yu Shu moved closer to Shen Zhen, their noses brushing against each other, a smile playing on his lips, a seductive glint in his eyes. "Zhenzhen, will you be brave for me one more time? Maybe we can have the same ending as them..."
Shen Zhen's eyes stung, and her voice trembled slightly, "A-Shu...you...you mean..."
Yu Shu lowered her head and sealed Shen Zhen's lips with hers, gently licking and penetrating, constantly feeling the other's presence. Why couldn't Shen Zhen understand what she meant?
Shen Zhen fell asleep sometime last night and was woken up by Chu Chu's phone call this morning.
"Shen Xiaozhen, do you want me to starve to death? Why haven't you brought me food yet!" Chu Chu's loud and boisterous voice came through the receiver.
Before Shen Zhen could speak, Yu Shu took the phone from behind her. Her voice was calm, slightly hoarse from just waking up, but quite pleasant, "If you're hungry, order something yourself. She's not your maid!"
Shen Zhen tried to snatch the phone away. Her relationship with Chu Chu had just been repaired, and she didn't want Yu Shu to ruin it.
Yu Shu wrapped her arms around Shen Zhen from behind, preventing her from moving around. "You didn't make me any special food, so you're not allowed to make any for her!" Her tone was clearly sour.
Shen Zhen chuckled, realizing that Yu Shu had actually taught her how to cook. Before, when they lived in a rented apartment, Shen Zhen had to work part-time and often came home hungry. Yu Shu would always cook her a variety of delicious meals, and sometimes when Shen Zhen had a day off, the two of them would cook together.
Shen Zhen snuggled closer to Yu Shu, gently playing with her slender fingers, and said reproachfully, "You used to cook for me!"
Yu Shu kissed the top of her head. "There will be more opportunities in the future. Sleep a little longer."
Shen Zhen rolled over, fiddling with the ribbon on Yu Shu's chest, and looked up at her chin, asking, "A Shu, are you going to work today?"
Yu Shu closed her eyes and let out a low "hmm".
Shen Zhen was somewhat disappointed and pressed herself against her.
Yu Shu smiled slightly at her action. "What's wrong?"
After thinking for a moment, Shen Zhen said carefully, "I've received my royalties. I'd like to treat you to dinner or a movie. You've helped me so much, I want to... express my gratitude."
Yu Shu's hands began to roam over Shen Zhen's smooth back, and he said ambiguously, "Zhenzhen, I don't mind thanking you in another way..."
Shen Zhen felt a chill run down her spine, and before she could even utter a cry of surprise, her words were cut off. The unspoken words turned into intimate sounds within the room.
...
Shen Zhen's facial injury hadn't healed yet, and she didn't want her grandmother to worry, so she wasn't planning to go to the hospital. However, Chu Chu called her more than a dozen times that afternoon, saying that it was too boring at the hospital and insisting that she come over. So Shen Zhen made some cookies and cakes to take to the hospital. She wanted to improve her relationship with Chu Chu and wanted to stay by Yu Shu's side.
"Shen Xiaozhen, why don't you, a freelancer, come and keep me company?" Chu Chu shouted as soon as she saw Shen Xiaozhen.
Shen Zhen pinched her temple and placed the desserts on the table. "Don't be angry, Miss. I'm here to keep you company."
Shen Zhen tilted her head and spoke with a smile, the afternoon sunlight falling on her clear black and white eyes, making them look delicate and sparkling.
Chu Chu's heart raced, and she turned her head away shyly, picking up the cake and eating it. "Come play games with me for a while."
Shen Zhen waved the book in her hand. "I'm not interested in games. You play, I'll read a book and keep you company."
Chu Chu scoffed and muttered, "Boring! I don't know what Sister Shu likes about you!"
After the game ended, Chu Chu tilted her head and stared blankly at Shen Zhen, who was quietly reading a book beside her. Being by Shen Zhen's side made her feel exceptionally at ease; if she didn't see her for a day, Chu Chu felt like something was missing. Especially when she heard Shen Zhen's voice in the morning, her heart ached terribly. When did it start? Perhaps it was the first time Shen Zhen brought her food, the time Shen Zhen listened to her rambling with a smile, the time Shen Zhen kept her company on every boring day.
Shen Zhen looked up inexplicably, and Chu Chu then noticed that the corners of her mouth and eyes were swollen. She pulled her to the bedside, her eyes filled with coldness, and asked in a cold voice, "Who did this?"
Shen Zhen withdrew her hand without making a sound, smiled, and said, "It's nothing, I just bumped into it by accident. You go ahead and eat."
The warm touch on Chu Chu's hand vanished in an instant, leaving her feeling somewhat disappointed. Her face was cold, tinged with hidden anger. "How did this happen?"
Shen Zhen was puzzled by Chu Chu's emotional change, as if she had committed some heinous crime by getting injured, and said perfunctorily, "I accidentally bumped into something yesterday, really."
Chu Chu watched her silently, and seeing that she was unwilling to speak, she did not force her, but just pursed her lips and did not give Chen Zhen a kind look again.
