Chapter 94 My Girlfriend is Waiting for Me
As soon as the bell rang, Shen Wan grabbed her things and rushed towards the school gate. But Zhang Jian caught up with her when she reached the gate.
"Chen! Chen! Wait for me!" Zhang Jian gasped as he grabbed Shen Wan's arm.
Shen Wan stared at Zhang Jian with a cold expression and her dark eyes devoid of any warmth, and asked in a cold voice, "What is it?"
Zhang Jian awkwardly touched his nose. "Um... it's so late, let me take you home."
Shen Wan spotted Chu Chu's red supercar at a glance, paused for a moment, then quickly regained her composure, raised her chin at the car, and said coldly, "No need, thank you, my girlfriend is waiting for me."
In an instant, Zhang Jian froze on the spot, his expression shifting rapidly, showing anger, shame, and shock.
Zhang Jian was already arrogant at night school, and several girls tried to chat him up, but he ignored them all. He never expected that when he finally took a liking to Shen Wan, she didn't like boys and already had a wealthy girlfriend.
Without waiting for his response, Shen Wan walked straight to Chu Chu's car. She knew that this would finally get rid of this clingy guy, but she didn't expect Chu Chu to still be waiting for her so late.
"Xiao Wan, over here!" Before Shen Wan even got close to Chu Chu's car, Jiang Yu's voice, carried by the wind, rushed into Shen Wan's ears from afar.
Shen Wan was stunned for a moment, then ran to Jiang Yu and asked obediently, "Sister Yu, why are you here so late?"
Under the dim streetlights, Shen Wan's nose was red from the cold, and her eyes were no longer as cold as when she was facing Zhang Jian, but rather showed familiarity.
Seeing Shen Wan standing prettily in front of her with her fluffy head, Jiang Yu couldn't help but reach out and ruffle her hair. "What else could it be? Your sister was worried about you getting out of school so late and made me make sure to take you home."
Just as Shen Wan was about to speak, Chu Chu appeared behind her without her noticing. She gripped Shen Wan's arm tightly, her eyes revealing a hint of hostility as she glared at Jiang Yu and said coldly, "No need to trouble you, I will personally take her home."
Shen Wan was startled by this sudden action. She twisted her body forcefully, trying to break free from Chu Chu's grasp. At the same time, she lowered her voice and shouted angrily, "What are you doing?" Her voice was clearly filled with dissatisfaction and anger.
Seeing the two acting like a bickering young couple, Jiang Yu was speechless. Her lips parted slightly, and her eyes darted back and forth between Shen Wan and Chu Chu, as if trying to discern something between them.
After a long while, Jiang Yu finally came to her senses. Pointing at the two people in front of her, she stammered, "You...you...is this what they call flirting?" Her voice was filled with disbelief and surprise, as if she had seen something incredible.
Chu Chu quickly pulled her hand back in astonishment, as if her fingertips had been burned by something scalding hot, the sensation spreading from her fingertips to her heart.
Chu Chu glared at Jiang Yu and shouted angrily, "Jiang Yu! What nonsense are you spouting? Believe me or not, I'll sue you for defamation!"
Jiang Yu's lips twitched involuntarily. This... A long-forgotten melody echoed in her mind: she should be under the car, not inside...
Shen Wan pinched her temple. "Sigh! These two are such childish fools! I don't know how they've managed to keep up with the family business their parents built!"
Jiang Yu opened the car door and got in, then tapped the steering wheel. "Well... I'll head back now. Have fun!"
Shen Wan stood there, bewildered in the wind. She desperately wanted to grab Jiang Yu and demand an explanation: what did she mean by "having fun"? What did they mean by "having fun"? And how did they manage to have fun?
"Miss, what you said is very ambiguous! Wait!" Shen Wan shouted in her heart.
Chu Chu touched her nose and said awkwardly, "Let's go home. Zhang Ma just called and said that Tuan Tuan is not feeling well and keeps asking for her mother."
Chu Chu didn't know why, but now whenever she was with Shen Wan, she felt incredibly uncomfortable. Ugh! She still couldn't accept food cooked by others; she felt obligated to accept their food! Even speaking to Shen Wan felt like her tongue was burning! It was awful!
As soon as Shen Wan got home, she went straight to Tuan Tuan's room. The sensible little guy was sleeping on the bed, whimpering, his cheeks flushed red.
Shen Wan felt a pang of heartache and almost burst into tears. Holding Tuantuan's tiny hand, she asked, "Zhang Ma, have you seen a doctor yet?"
Aunt Zhang replied softly, "The family doctor came and examined her; he said it's a common cold. Miss Wan, don't worry, Tuantuan has already taken her medicine."
Shen Wan nodded, her gaze fixed on Tuantuan. This was her first child, and would be her only child. The first thing she did after giving birth to Tuantuan and escaping was to use sterilization; she never wanted to have a child for someone she didn't love again.
Chu Chu followed Shen Wan the whole way, sitting quietly beside her. The two of them would occasionally wipe Tuan Tuan's body, the soles of her feet, and the palms of her hands. Chu Chu was unusually quiet and cooperative tonight.
After they finished their work, Shen Wan and Chu Chu leaned against Tuan Tuan's bedside, for the first time as close as comrades-in-arms.
Moonlight streamed in through the window, illuminating Shen Wan's indifferent face, which, though weary, shone with a soft glow, making her exceptionally beautiful.
Shen Wan hugged herself, rested her chin on her knees, and gazed absently outside. "Thank you."
After a while, Chu Chu's tired voice rang out. If Chu Chu hadn't been there today, she would definitely have been quite flustered.
Chu Chu sat down next to Shen Wan with one leg bent, saying, "It's nothing, Tuantuan is my daughter too."
Shen Wan stood there, stunned, and gave a bitter smile. It was all because of her sister, wasn't it? She had been through so much, would anyone still love her broken heart?
After a long while, whether it was the alluring moonlight or the ambiguous atmosphere, Chen Wan inexplicably felt the urge to confide in someone.
"After giving birth to Tuantuan, I ran away from my hometown, thinking I could escape my miserable fate, but I didn't know I would fall into even greater suffering. Those men were disgusting, because I couldn't get pregnant, they tormented me over and over again."
Her deep, melodious voice was like cool, clear water on a summer day—it was incredibly pleasant to hear. Her small face held a sorrowful and resentful expression, and she exuded an unprecedented vulnerability. "Those men are so stupid. I want to kill them every moment of my life. How could I possibly allow myself to have their child?"
Chu Chu gazed at Shen Wan's fair and delicate face, listening to her calmly recount everything she had experienced, as if it were another person's life.
Chu Chu felt as if her heart was being pricked by needles, a fine, dense pain emanating from the depths of her soul.
Before Chu Chu could react, her body had already pulled Shen Wan into her arms.
"It will be alright, everything will be alright in the future. Let those nightmares pass. If we really can't get over them, we'll find a way to get revenge. That's fair, isn't it?"
As Chen Wan heard Chu Chu's concerned words ring in her ears, a warm feeling washed over her. Besides her sister, was there anyone else who cared about her?
