Chapter 76 I hope she is happy

Chapter 76 I hope she is happy

After calming Shen Zhen down, Gu Yushu turned around with a grim face. The burly man and the two other men had already been subdued. Gu Yushu picked up a knife from the side and plunged it viciously into the burly man's palm!

"ah!!!"

"Speak! Who sent you!" Gu Yushu twirled the knife in his hand, his eyes bloodshot, his face filled with a terrifying madness.

Sweat beaded on the burly man's forehead, a mixture of fear and pain, as he gritted his teeth, refusing to utter a single word. Things couldn't be salvaged; if he were to reveal Old Master Gu's involvement again, he truly didn't want to live anymore.

Gu Yushu coldly glanced at the remaining two, then gestured with her chin towards Fan Yuan, "Let them recruit, and the project in City C will be yours!"

"A-Shu... cold..." Shen Zhen called softly to Gu Yushu, her body trembling violently. As soon as Gu Yushu approached, she immediately threw herself into her arms, trying to feel the warmth of Gu Yushu's body.

Shen Zhen's lips were bloodless as she struggled to open her eyes. "A-Shu, Xiao Wan... how is Xiao Wan?"

Gu Yushu glanced indifferently at Shen Wan, who lay on the ground, clutching her chest in pain, her eyes tightly shut. It was the girl who had brought Shen Zhen home that night. Was she involved in this kidnapping?

Gu Yushu gently comforted her, "She'll be fine. The ambulance will be back soon, Zhenzhen, don't worry."

Shen Zhen relaxed and closed her eyes, collapsing into Gu Yushu's arms.

"Zhenzhen!" Gu Yushu's pupils contracted slightly. He grabbed Shen Zhen, picked her up, and rushed out.

...

"Tick-tock tick-tock".

The sound of IV drips continued in the empty ward. Shen Wan rubbed her head and sat up. She raised her hand, noticed the needle, and pulled it out without a second thought.

She wasn't actually seriously injured. Compared to the hardships she'd endured over the years, being kicked was nothing. Why be so delicate? You can only cry out in pain when someone cares for you; otherwise, you can only tell yourself it doesn't hurt.

Shen Wan asked the nurse and slowly walked to the door of Shen Zhen's ward.

Shen Zhen was still fast asleep inside. Gu Yushu sat by her bedside, their hands clasped together. The plain rings on their hands were particularly eye-catching, gleaming with a light that symbolized happiness and commitment.

For some reason, Shen Wan felt a sharp pang of sadness in her heart and her eyes stung. Look, they were both daughters of the Shen family, and finally one of them had found happiness. She was happy for Shen Zhen; no matter what, she wouldn't have to fall into the dust like her and be unable to get back up.

Hearing the noise behind him, Gu Yushu turned around coldly. "Zhenzhen is resting. Is something the matter?"

Gu Yushu showed no tenderness whatsoever when facing Shen Wan, revealing his inherent arrogance and indifference, which instilled fear and timidity in others.

If it weren't for Shen Wan, Zhenzhen would never have suffered like this! Yu Shu instinctively felt that this matter was inextricably linked to Shen Wan. She had disappeared for so long, so why did she suddenly appear in City C, and why did Zhenzhen run into her? This was far too much of a coincidence! What was her purpose in approaching Shen Zhen? Had the old man intervened?

Shen Wan clenched her fist and looked straight back at Gu Yushu. The oppressive aura emanating from Gu Yushu made her heart pound. Although Gu Yushu was sitting while she was standing, the superior's demeanor made her feel suffocated.

Shen Wan bit her lip and mustered her courage to say, "I want to talk to you."

Gu Yushu turned around and tucked the blanket around Shen Zhen, saying without turning his head, "Okay, let's go."

The two arrived at the garden downstairs. Gu Yushu crossed his arms and looked at Shen Wan with a calm expression, waiting for her to speak first.

Shen Wan stood in front of Gu Yushu, looking up at her. After considering her words, she said, "It was Grandpa Gu who asked me to come and get close to Zhenzhen. He... seems to not want you two to be together."

Gu Yushu understood; this was something her grandfather was capable of doing. Her grandfather's desires were simple: a marriage alliance to expand the Gu family business. He didn't care about Gu Yushu's feelings; his only concern was his corporation.

Shen Wan continued, "President Gu, please let me stay by Zhenzhen's side. If Old Master Gu doesn't succeed this time, he definitely won't give up easily."

Gu Yushu frowned slightly, rubbing the corner of her clothes, and scoffed, "You're staying by Zhenzhen's side? To hurt her again? Do you know that if you weren't Shen Zhen's sister, you wouldn't be standing here right now!"

Shen Wan hurriedly grabbed Gu Yushu's arm, "You have to believe me, I won't hurt my sister. I just want to protect her in my own way. I want her to be happy..."

Gu Yushu coldly shook off Shen Wan, her voice devoid of any emotion, "It had better be that way." She had originally intended to send Shen Wan away before Shen Zhen woke up, but when she thought of the disappointed look on Shen Zhen's face when she mentioned Shen Wan, Yushu couldn't bear to disappoint Shen Zhen.

After speaking, Gu Yushu walked towards the ward without looking back. Zhenzhen would be scared if she woke up and couldn't see her. As for Shen Wan, she would keep an eye on her and make her put on an act in front of her grandfather when necessary.

The two arrived at the ward one after the other, and heard a teasing voice coming from inside, "Zhenzhen, what happened? Did President Gu land you in the hospital?"

Shen Zhen blushed and said reproachfully, "Xiao Yu'er, be serious, we're still friends!"

Just as Jiang Yu was about to say something, she saw Gu Yushu enter with a pretty young woman. The young woman's features resembled Shen Zhen's, but she looked thinner.

Jiang Yu raised an eyebrow, nudged Chen Zhen, and asked in a low voice, "What's going on? You're still alive and well, and President Gu is already collecting merchandise?"

Shen Zhen's lips twitched, and she slapped Jiang Yu on the back of the head. "Don't talk nonsense! That's my sister, Shen Wan!"

Shen Zhen gently beckoned to Shen Wan, "Xiao Wan, come here quickly."

Shen Wan glanced timidly at Gu Yushu, and seeing that she didn't object, she rushed to Shen Zhen's bedside, calling out in a choked voice, "Sister..."

Shen Zhen patted her fluffy head and comforted her, "Xiao Wan, don't be afraid, we're safe now, A Shu will protect us."

Shen Wan's eyes reddened. Shen Zhen was always like this, always protecting her no matter what happened. She was willing to give her anything except Gu Yushu. She left after giving birth because she believed Shen Zhen wouldn't abandon the child. Shen Zhen valued family above all else, because she had none, and therefore cherished it.

Gu Yushu quietly looked at Shen Zhen. As long as she was happy, she wouldn't tell her these things. She hoped that her Zhenzhen wouldn't be hurt by her family.

Jiang Yu rubbed her nose. "Hey, you two, stop being so sentimental."

Jiang Yu put her arm around Shen Wan's shoulder and said casually, "Little sister, right? Stay with me for the next few days. When Zhenzhen is better, we'll go back to City A together."

Shen Wan twisted her body and looked helplessly at Shen Zhen. Shen Zhen smiled and nodded at her, "It's okay."

"Zhenzhen, are you feeling any better?" Jiang Che's carefree voice came from outside the door.

The door was pushed open, and Jiang Che, Zhong Li, and Chu Chu appeared in the doorway.

Zhong Li stood quietly behind Jiang Che, his gaze falling on Jiang Yu's arm around Shen Wan. His dark eyes were terrifyingly gloomy, as if a storm was being suppressed within them.
