Chapter 50 Something Happened
Li Yuanzhao chuckled softly, his fingertips sliding down his neck and gently tracing his waist. "What's so difficult about that?"
She looked up at his reddened eyes, "As long as you serve me well..."
Her voice was lowered, with a hint of seduction, "What I can give you is far more than you can imagine...."
Looking at her face so close to his, Lin Xuean finally mustered all her courage, closed her eyes, raised her head slightly, and tentatively moved her lips closer to hers.
Seeing his expression, Li Yuanzhao's smile deepened. Just as he was about to respond, he was interrupted by a hurried shout.
"Your Highness! Something has happened!"
Before he could finish speaking, the tent flap was suddenly pushed open.
Chen Yanqing stood at the door and immediately saw the scene on the bed.
Li Yuanzhao's clothes were half-open, and his hair was disheveled and spread over his shoulders.
Lin Xuean was completely naked and lying on her back beneath her.
The intertwined posture of the two, under the flickering light, was so ambiguous that it made one blush.
Seeing someone barge in, Lin Xuean hurriedly grabbed the blanket next to her and wrapped it haphazardly around herself.
The allure in Li Yuanzhao's eyes vanished instantly, leaving only anger at being disturbed.
She slowly straightened up, casually pulled her collar together, and looked at him coldly, "Are you tired of living? Is this the manners you learned?"
Chen Yanqing's face had turned deathly pale, and his throat felt like it was stuffed with cotton wool, so he couldn't utter a single word.
She actually fell for this random man!
How could they be so shameless, doing this on the very first day they met...
Ru Mo followed behind Chen Yanqing, never expecting such a scene to unfold inside the tent.
She simply told Chen Yanqing that there was an urgent matter that His Highness needed to handle, but who knew that he would just push the door open.
He seemed impatient, as if he wanted to interrupt something.
But the situation was urgent, and she couldn't worry about anything else. She quickly stepped forward to report, "Your Highness, the situation has changed!"
Li Yuanzhao and Ru Mo exchanged a glance, then immediately got up from the bed and strode out.
He put on his coat as he walked out, his movements swift and decisive.
As she passed Chen Yanqing, she saw him still looking like he had lost his parents and was in a daze. She glanced at him sideways and said, "Aren't you coming with me?"
Chen Yanqing was so angry that his fingertips trembled, and his chest felt like it was filled with a raging fire, but he couldn't vent it.
But then she remembered Ru Mo's words, "There's an assassin," and finally suppressed her anger. She glared fiercely at Lin Xue'an, who was frantically wrapping herself in the blanket on the bed, and turned around to follow him quickly.
No matter how dissatisfied they are, they cannot joke about Li Yuanzhao's safety.
On the way, Ru Mo continued to report: "Those people failed and were instead entangled by General Shen. The banquet is in chaos, and the Imperial Guards are on their way. If we delay any longer, things may change. We can only ask Your Highness for a decision."
Upon hearing this, Li Yuanzhao gave her a look that said, "You can't even handle this simple matter," and then took his sword from her hand, his steps becoming even faster.
Sure enough, just as they reached the edge of the banquet area, they heard a piercing scream and the sound of weapons clashing.
The scene was in complete chaos!
The wine table was overturned, the stools were scattered haphazardly on the ground, and the floor was littered with broken bowls, plates, and spilled food, creating a complete mess.
The young men and women who had been singing and dancing were now terrified and scattered in all directions.
Some cowered under the table, trembling, while others tugged at each other as they fled to the back of the tent, their panicked cries echoing throughout.
In the center of the arena, more than twenty black-clad assassins, wielding sharp swords, lunged straight at the emperor in the main seat!
The guards rushed forward to protect the emperor, but were held back by the assassins.
The sounds of clashing swords rose and fell, and people screamed as they collapsed.
Before the Emperor's throne, only Shen Churong remained, fighting desperately.
He was not supposed to carry a sword in front of the emperor, but he had taken a long saber from some assassin, the blade of which was already stained red with blood.
He moved nimbly, each strike fierce and powerful, but ultimately he was outnumbered. Deep, bone-revealing wounds appeared on his thighs and back, and his movements gradually slowed.
The assassins had a very clear target; their eyes were only on the emperor on the throne. Their moves were ruthless and deadly.
The Emperor was slumped in his seat, tightly protected by Eunuch Xu.
Assassins blocked his path from both sides, and his escape route was already sealed off.
He caught sight of Li Yuanzhao rushing over and immediately cried out, "Que Nu, save me!"
Li Yuanzhao's eyes sharpened, and he responded loudly, "Father, do not panic, your son is here!"
Before she finished speaking, she had already drawn her sword and charged straight into the group of assassins.
As the longsword flew, blood splattered everywhere, and the assassins blocking her way fell to the ground. However, due to the large number of them, she was also held back.
Ru Mo and Chen Yanqing followed closely behind, sticking to Li Yuanzhao and drawing their swords to defend themselves.
But the assassins seemed to have gone mad. Seeing the reinforcements arrive, they became even more anxious, disregarding their own lives, protecting their leader, breaking through the blockade, and rushing to the emperor again.
Just as a sharp sword was about to pierce the emperor, Shen Churong reacted quickly, kicking away the assassin who was fighting with him, and leaping up to shield the emperor with his own body!
Li Yuanzhao frowned deeply as he watched this scene.
She caught a glimpse of Chen Yanqing standing close beside her out of the corner of her eye. Without thinking twice, she kicked Chen Yanqing hard in the lower back without even blinking!
Caught off guard, Chen Yanqing felt a tremendous force strike him, sending him flying and crashing head-on into the sword-wielding assassin.
With a muffled thud, the assassin's knife was deflected slightly and struck the armrest of the dragon throne with a clang, barely grazing the hem of Shen Churong's robe.
Chen Yanqing felt as if his internal organs had shifted from the kick, and he fell to the ground, numb all over. When he looked up, he met Li Yuanzhao's gaze.
There was no worry in his gaze; only after confirming that Shen Churong was unharmed did he turn away with cold indifference.
The next moment, she drew her sword and continued to fight the remaining assassins, her sword flashing sharply and her killing decisively.
A chill instantly shot from the soles of my feet to the top of my head.
She really didn't care whether he lived or died?
That kick just now clearly used him as a human shield to take the blow for Shen Churong.
In her eyes, her own life was not as important as Shen Churong, with whom she had always been at odds.
He lay on the ground, the excruciating pain in his back and the coldness in his chest intertwined, making it almost impossible for him to breathe.
Enraged by the collision, the assassin drew his short sword from his waist and slashed at Chen Yanqing, who was lying on the ground, with eyes blazing with fury!
"careful!"
Chen Yanqing was only brought back to his attention when Shen Churong, who was behind him, exclaimed in surprise.
He rolled on the spot, narrowly avoiding the blade.
But the blade still grazed his arm, tearing a deep gash in his flesh, and blood gushed out instantly.
Chen Yanqing suddenly drew the dagger from his waist, his eyes bloodshot as he slashed at the assassin, his movements so fierce it seemed he was venting his anger.
This dagger was the one Li Yuanzhao had given him. Since receiving it, he had treasured it, even refusing to use it for cutting meat, and sharpening it every day until it was as sharp as new.
But now, they are forced to risk their lives...
Before long, Li Yuanzhao's longsword pierced the throat of the last assassin on the field with precision.
She kicked aside the still convulsing corpse, her gaze sweeping over the chaotic scene. Seeing that the assassin leader had also been killed by Chen Yanqing, her tense jawline relaxed slightly, and she breathed a sigh of relief.
