Because of the purification of Danxun's beastification value, Jiang Zheyu now has a total of 480 points.
Sure enough, she felt much safer after accumulating points.
After all, you can use points to buy things in the system shop that can temporarily save your life.
Jiang Zheyu was about to throw the glass bottle in his hand into the trash can when he heard a knock on the gate of the courtyard outside.
She was somewhat surprised, wondering who was knocking on the door. However, it probably wasn't Shan Xun, since the other person had left the house and, instead of leaving through the courtyard gate, had jumped over the wall to escape.
Furthermore, if it's a one-way inquiry, they shouldn't knock; they should just come in directly.
So she doesn't know who's looking for her now, and she doesn't seem to know any orcs in this place.
Jiang Zheyu hesitated for a moment before going outside.
She opened the gate to the courtyard and saw an old woman.
This old woman had one blind eye, and her other eye, which was not blind, was extremely cloudy.
Jiang Zheyu paused for a moment before speaking, "Grandma, are you here to see Yin Ji? He's already gone hunting and isn't home. Is there anything I can help you with?"
The old female glanced at Jiang Zheyu but didn't answer his question. Instead, she slowly handed him a bamboo basket, from which wafted the aroma of meat and the sweet scent of fruit.
"He gave it to you," the old woman said very slowly.
Jiang Zheyu immediately realized that the "he" the old woman was referring to must be Yin Ji. He was worried that she wouldn't have enough food in the tribe, so he arranged for someone to deliver food to her in advance.
"Thank you, Grandma, you've gone to so much trouble." Jiang Zheyu reached out and took the bamboo basket, giving a sweet thank you.
I didn't expect Yin Ji to be so considerate. Great, I'll give him extra points. It's definitely worth getting this beast companion.
Jiang Zheyu thanked her, but the old woman in front of her did not leave. Instead, she stood there looking at her with one cloudy eye, her expression inorganic, which made Jiang Zheyu feel a chill down her spine.
This old woman certainly doesn't look very kind.
Her grass-covered clothes were tattered, and her hair was unkempt, making her look more like a beggar.
Jiang Zheyu was very puzzled. Did this old female not have a mate? Or did this old female not have children?
She didn't know the old woman's background; she was just a little curious, but she didn't dare to ask.
However, the old female just stood there, staring at her with one eye without saying a word, and it was unclear what she wanted to do.
So Jiang Zheyu tentatively asked, "Grandma, is there something else you need while you're standing here?"
The old woman glanced at her, then spoke softly, revealing various broken teeth in her vision. Her two rows of teeth were uneven and crooked: "Yin Ji is not a good person."
Her voice was even more rough and unpleasant.
"Do you know how I went blind in this eye?" the old female said in a dark voice. "He's the one who blinded me. He's a sick man. You've fallen for him, you're doomed. You can't escape his clutches."
The murky eyes stared at Jiang Zheyu with an ambiguous meaning, and listening to the old woman's dark words made Jiang Zheyu feel a chill down his spine.
"Then why did you come to deliver his food?" Jiang Zheyu asked silently, looking into the old woman's eyes.
"Because he holds my life in his hands," the old woman muttered, looking rather eccentric.
Before Jiang Zheyu could react, the old female turned and left.
Jiang Zheyu felt the evening breeze was getting a bit chilly, so he rubbed his arms.
She didn't know what the old woman meant by saying those things to her.
Jiang Zheyu quickly closed the door and went back inside.
She looked at the meat and fruit in the small basket.
This piece of meat has already been cooked, which suggests that this place is primitive, but they still know how to use fire.
Jiang Zheyu tried picking up a piece of meat and taking a bite, wondering how the meat here was prepared.
She took a bite and found it didn't taste good.
She would crush the juice from the red berries next to her and let it drip down her throat to make it taste better.
The meat wasn't oiled at all; it seemed to have just been rubbed with some coarse salt, but each slice was cut very thinly.
After being coated with some sweet juice, it seemed to taste a bit better, but how should I put it? Having already tasted delicacies from land and sea, Jiang Zheyu thought these were just so-so.
She ate a lot of meat slices, and she wasn't hungry anymore, but she didn't want to waste them. However, she couldn't finish them all.
So let's wait until Shan Xun comes back before giving him these meat slices.
Jiang Zheyu only started thinking about what the old female had meant when she finished eating.
She couldn't just believe the old woman's side of the story, since besides Shan Xun, the person she was most familiar with at the beginning was Yin Ji.
What kind of person is Yin Ji? Jiang Zheyu wouldn't just listen to the old woman's side of the story.
And if the other party really wanted to harm her, why did they save her in the first place? Probably because they were attracted to her beauty.
Anyway, Jiang Zheyu doesn't think Yin Ji is anything special right now.
If Yin Ji really has something, how come he's still in this tribe? He hasn't been expelled yet, and he's still the tribe's number one warrior.
And even if Yin Ji has something...
Jiang Zheyu wasn't actually afraid, probably because Shan Xun was by her side.
Yes, as long as Shan Xun is by her side, she is not afraid of anything.
Night falls.
There were no lights inside the earthen house, so it was pitch black.
She didn't know how this primitive orc kept light; he probably used firewood.
Jiang Zheyu remembered that there seemed to be a wood-burning stove in the living room, which was used for burning firewood for lighting.
However, Jiang Zheyu didn't want to concern himself with too much.
It doesn't really matter whether there's light or not, since I don't do anything at night anyway, I just go to sleep.
It's so late now, why hasn't Shanxun come back yet?
Just as she was worrying about Shan Xun, she heard the door open.
"Shan Xun, you're back?" Jiang Zheyu asked happily.
"Hmm." Shan Xun responded softly. He didn't dare to stay outside for too long, still worried about the female, so he returned as soon as night fell. "Go back to your room and rest."
Jiang Zheyu sensed that Shan Xun seemed to be covered in moisture, probably from soaking in the cold lake water.
"Your wound hasn't healed yet, why did you go soaking in the lake again?" Jiang Zheyu frowned.
Dan Xun hadn't expected Jiang Zheyu to be so perceptive, but upon hearing the little female's caring words, a soft spot in his heart melted.
But his indifferent voice didn't reveal any flaw: "I'm fine, you should go back to your room and rest."
But how could Jiang Zheyu let him off so easily? She left her here, avoiding their questions.
"Captain Shan, after soaking in cold water for so long, have you thought it through? You really don't want to be my beast-tamer?"
Jiang Zheyu's voice was sweet and soft.
She's so sweet, she'll make him swoon!
