Chapter 25 Beast Companions

Jiang Zheyu waited in the living room until 11:40, but still didn't hear the door open.

She felt a little uneasy. While looking at the personal terminal, she slowly walked towards the door, but she stopped halfway there.

A tall figure leaned against the iron gate, his head slightly bowed, breathing heavily, slowly calming down.

Jiang Zheyu couldn't see the person's face clearly, and her heart suddenly started racing. She froze in her tracks.

Is it Su Yan? If it is Su Yan, why isn't the light on?

The figure moved, turning around with some difficulty and heading towards the small door.

Then there was a crisp click.

The door was opened, and Jiang Zheyu subconsciously looked towards the small door.

The man slowly walked in, and in the moonlight, she gradually saw his red, tousled hair and those remarkably familiar red eyes.

Jiang Zheyu noticed that Su Yan's red eyes appeared even more blood-red, perhaps due to the lighting, and also exuded a cold-blooded, murderous aura.

When he looked at her, his red eyes seemed to be enveloped in a warm light, cooling away the bloodthirsty coldness, making Jiang Zheyu feel that what she saw for that moment was perhaps an illusion.

"Sorry, I'm a minute late." Su Yan raised his wrist and glanced at the time on his personal terminal before looking at Jiang Zheyu.

He slowly walked to Jiang Zheyu's side.

"It's alright, it's only a minute." Jiang Zheyu could smell a faint scent of blood. "You, you're injured?"

She looked at Su Yan with some concern.

Su Yan paused for a moment, then replied, "It's not my blood."

When he said this, his tone seemed ambiguous.

That white-eyed worm ultimately caused the deaths of several orcs.

Jiang Zheyu didn't know what had happened, but she sensed the man's somewhat heavy mood. After thinking for a moment, she softly said, "It's cold outside, let's go inside."

Su Yan heard this familiar phrase; he had said it to the girl before. For some reason, his heart stirred slightly. His red eyes stared at the girl's warm, tea-colored eyes, and he saw that those gentle, calm tea-colored eyes were looking at him with concern.

He stared into the girl's beautiful eyes for a while, and for a moment her pupils seemed to turn into needles. The primal urge to bite and coil made his heart pound.

Jiang Zheyu paused, wondering why Su Yan kept staring at her. She felt a chill run down her spine, as if she were being watched by some cold animal.

"Are you concerned about me?" Su Yan asked slowly.

Jiang Zheyu didn't know why Su Yan asked that question. Even if it was her friend, if he came back in the middle of the night in a bad mood and smelled of blood, she would definitely care about him.

She had unknowingly come to regard Su Yan as a friend, thanks to his politeness and tact. Their friendship, which included meeting for breakfast every day and simple chats, made them feel like ordinary friends.

Of course, this is Jiang Zheyu's opinion that they should be considered ordinary friends.

It's just that the other person's intentions are unclear.

After all, not every orc is willing to spend time eating unpalatable food. Eating nutrient solutions directly can not only save time but also quickly fill their stomachs.

Su Yan had already accompanied Jiang Zheyu to breakfast several times.

"Hmm." Jiang Zheyu was indeed a little worried about him.

The soft sound felt like a heavy hammer blow to his heart.

Looking at the well-behaved and pretty girl standing in front of him, Su Yan could no longer ignore the desire and impulse in his heart.

“Mistress…” Su Yan murmured, his red eyes fixed on the girl’s pale pink lips. He reached out and took Jiang Zheyu’s hand. “Let’s get along like normal beast couples.”

Jiang Zheyu didn't react for a moment. How did the topic suddenly turn to beast companions?

"Is it okay?" Su Yan gently squeezed her hand again.

Jiang Zheyu also felt the large hand that was holding hers was slightly warm.

The snake-beastman's body was normally cool, but at this moment his palms became slightly warm.

The man looked down at her, his gaze extremely dark, as if he was trying his best to suppress some kind of impulse. Su Yan was very close to her, and his tall and slender figure seemed to be enveloping her under his body.

Jiang Zheyu felt he had nowhere to escape and a sense of unease crept into his heart.

She thought about whether she had said something that might have caused a misunderstanding. She didn't dare to look at him and just said dryly, "Su Yan, you, you misunderstood. That's not what I meant."

"I do care about you, but it's just the concern between ordinary friends," Jiang Zheyu quickly explained. "I used to mistreat you so much, and now I'm just trying to make up for it. I won't hold you back anymore. I know you probably don't like me either, so if you find someone you like in the future, I'll let you go and I definitely won't tie you down."

She said a long thing, but it's unclear whether Su Yan believed her.

A dark glint flashed in Su Yan's red eyes.

Are they just ordinary friends? Then why do you always expect to offer him emotional support?

Why doesn't she stay as bad and rotten as she did before?

Now she has changed, and she attracts his attention at all times.

Su Yan couldn't help but fall for her.

He had already understood his own feelings, and his rational mind was suppressing his impulse.

He wanted to be a calm, serpent-like beastman.

Su Yan released Jiang Zheyu's hand and slowly said, "I'm sorry, I misunderstood."

Jiang Zheyu's anxious mood eased slightly.

Su Yan probably wants to continue his relationship with the female lead because he hasn't met her yet.

He'll just have to wait until he meets the female lead later to find out who his one true love is.

She gave an awkward, soft laugh: "Let's go inside."

The two of them went inside, and the atmosphere seemed to change somewhat.

Jiang Zheyu's mind was filled with thoughts of whether Su Yan really wanted to be with her like a beast mate.

In the novel, although Su Yan lost control of his beast form and killed the original owner to escape, he was saved by the female protagonist who used a potion to reduce his beast form value.

At the same time, Su Yan went from being a high-ranking interstellar commander to a wanted criminal, but he still has his own unique personal charm and never forgets his original aspiration to become a soldier. In the female lead's mixed organization, his justice and kindness are unique.

Jiang Zheyu's mind wandered as he recalled that in the novel's introduction, Su Yan had risen from the slums to the capital through sheer strength. As a child, he witnessed his snake-beast father repeatedly beating his mentally challenged mother when he couldn't control his violent emotions.

His father did not turn into a beast, but he tortured his mother to death.

Su Yan killed his father, and he vowed that he would not become a mindless beastman like his father, because that would be no different from a mindless wild beast.

He restrained himself and remained polite, secretly loving the female lead for many years, but he only silently helped her from behind and watched her silently, never overstepping his bounds.
