The first few days of the assessment were calm and boring. After all, it had just begun, and no one dared to make a move now, for fear of being caught like a cicada by a bird.
The two staff members in front of the monitor chatted idly while checking for any red alerts.
"Do you think those two will catch anything if they bet the captain they'll both go fishing?"
"You can't catch anything there. The water in that pond is all blue. How can there be any fish in it? I think there are mermaids, the kind that eat people."
"What about the two of them?"
One of them chuckled, unable to suppress a hint of helplessness. "Those two are so cunning. It's just that the other day, Teacher Lu gave us some hot and sour noodles, and the two of them didn't get to eat any. They saw the captain eat most of them by himself, so they're deliberately messing with him. Just you wait, in a bit, there will be a Smurf in the picture."
The Smurfs?
The other person laughed, "That's true."
Sure enough, as they were talking, two other people rushed in.
"Oh my god! I'm freezing to death!"
"That old bastard is a real scoundrel. He just kicked both of us off the road in a fit of rage."
Just as the two were about to strike up a conversation, the tent opened again from the outside, and the captain was standing in the wind.
"Hey, who's the old man? Who's heartless?"
"Isn't it you who tried to scam me, but ended up getting scammed yourselves?"
One of the officers on duty, who had been staring at the screen, couldn't help but laugh. "Alright, Captain, they're both freezing. Don't stand in the wind and deliberately provoke them."
The other person turned around and saw that the captain had something flashing in his hand and was moving around randomly.
"The captain is indeed the captain, he's much better than us. What did he catch? Are we going to send him to Teacher Lu later?"
"What? Let me see, I don't see anything in the lake."
"Exactly, you were so focused on holding me down that you couldn't possibly pay attention to anything else."
The captain finally spoke up to stop the two from arguing again.
"Shut up, our detection equipment isn't just for show. There's a shallow lake a hundred miles away. It's frozen over, but there's food down there."
"Take care of yourself, I'm going to find Teacher Lu."
...
When the captain arrived, Lu Yulan was reading a book, the same one Professor He had given her. She had marked down the parts she didn't understand, and she planned to ask Professor He or Chu Rui to explain them to her when she got back.
She now realizes that medicine is somewhat similar to cooking; both involve extracting the essence from plants or animals using various methods and then absorbing it.
Once you gradually figure out how it works, it becomes quite interesting.
"Teacher Lu, I'm coming in."
"Okay, come in."
"These fish were sent to you by your servants. Thank you for your hospitality these past two days."
Hearing the voice, Lu Yulan looked up from her book. She still had her glasses on her nose, giving her a more delicate and scholarly air.
Looking down, she saw the huge fish in the captain's hand. Wow! It was really big, as thick as her thigh.
"This fish is really big; I can't finish it all by myself. If the captain doesn't have anything urgent to do, how about you help me finish it? How about we have a copper pot of pickled cabbage for dinner tonight?"
"this……"
That's not what he meant. The main issue is that he has a wife, and it wouldn't be appropriate to give other things to Teacher Lu. He only sent ingredients because he thought she would cook, but it seems like he's deliberately trying to get Teacher Lu to cook for him.
They were caught in a dilemma.
"Captain, there's no need to feel awkward. I'm already causing you trouble by being here alone. Just treat me like a regular colleague. Let's have a meal together. I'll prepare the pot, and you can prepare the ingredients, how about that?"
