After Bai Shan finished speaking, the Empress's face changed.
"You were the one who let him go back then?"
Bai Shan was not afraid of the Empress's wrath at all. "If Your Majesty says so, then so be it. That's the person you found."
In a short while, Madam Bai had collected the documents scattered on the ground and placed them back in front of the Empress.
The empress slumped down, thinking, "It seems I've raised a man-eating beast."
He brushed aside the stray hairs that had fallen in front of his eyes, his tone both probing and warning, "Bai Shan, I only agreed to let you be the Commander-in-Chief of the Three Armies. Do you know the consequences of doing anything extra?"
Bai Shan: "Your Majesty, you should sign it as soon as possible, otherwise if it gets late and you have a relapse, don't blame me."
"Ha! You're so sure I'll obey?"
"Of course you'll listen. This entire Imperial Capital Star is now full of my people."
The Empress raised her head, a mocking glint in her eyes. "Grandpa Bai, you're really overthinking things."
The deep, resonant voice of the man came from the Empress's mouth. With a wave of his hand, the disguise was removed, and this was clearly Lu Yuanhong, not the Empress.
But even Lady Bai, who had been with the Empress for many years, did not notice.
A flicker of emotion flashed in Bai Shan's eyes. "Don't forget who gave you your life. Have you been hanging out with that old bastard Lu Yuanshan for too long? Do you really think you're Lu Yuanhong now? I can kill you with just a flick of my wrist."
Lu Yuanhong rested his chin on his hands, raised an eyebrow, and became even more playful, just like Lu Yulan.
Sure enough, the longer two people spend time together, the more they resemble each other.
"Grandpa Bai, you don't even recognize me? I'm not a cloned cyborg you created. Or have you been a clone for so long that everyone looks like one?"
Bai Shan stared sharply at Lu Yuanhong, trying to discern something else from his face, such as fear.
But they found the other party to be quite composed.
Bai Shan gripped his cane. "Yuan Hong, you should be a smart man. Do you really think you can turn things around all by yourself?"
Lu Yuanhong stood up, a calm smile on his face. "How will I know if I don't try? Grandpa told me that I can't give up until the very last moment."
As he spoke, he snapped his fingers.
Footsteps approached rapidly; it was the Royal Guard. Although Cole was useless, the Royal Guard still had some strength. This was the palace, and even though Bai Shan was the commander-in-chief of the three armies, he couldn't bring too many people in.
Madam Bai's expression changed drastically as she looked at Bai Shan behind her. She never imagined that at this moment, she too would be a character who had been abandoned.
"Father, no..."
"Furong, this is your honor for the Bai family."
Lu Yuanhong sensed something was wrong and quickly took action, but Bai Shan had already given up and would not easily let Lu Yuanhong stop him.
A loud explosion rang out in the palace, followed by a thick layer of grayish-white smoke.
Sophia stood in her room, watching this scene expressionlessly. She turned and glanced at Chu Xinglin with a low, languid tone, "Is it done?"
"Right away, right away."
"If you're still not good enough, I'll kill you."
Chu Xinglin sighed helplessly, "What kind of mess is this?"
"The explosion just now..."
"Little Linzi!"
Sophia warned him, and Chu Xinglin understood.
"All set up, Princess, are you sure?"
"Yes, this is the beginning of a new era."
Sophia clicked "start," and countless messages flew into everyone's personal computers.
A hint of mockery flashed in his eyes; the show was about to begin.
Sophia lifted her skirt, jumped off the chair, and walked outside.
