A couple of days ago, Brett mailed me some big fish, each weighing over ten kilograms. I checked them with my elemental probing.
Just like the Qingjiang fish she'd eaten before, it had few bones and tender meat. It'd been sitting in her storage space for a while, but it suddenly arrived today. Tonight, she'll make boiled fish and spicy blood curd.
Without further ado, she started by steaming the rice and then began processing the ingredients. She quickly cleaned the fish, cut it into pieces, and marinated it with cooking wine and starch.
She cut the luncheon meat and the cuckoo's blood into pieces, used her elemental power to quickly sprout soybeans, and took out some of the tofu skins she had made before.
Of course, the main ingredient is Sichuan peppercorns and chili peppers—you need plenty. Once everything is ready, turn on the heat, add the oil, and when the oil is hot, add the ingredients…
Once the two dishes are ready, top them with chili peppers and Sichuan peppercorns, then pour hot oil over them. With a sizzling sound, the spiciness instantly fills the entire space.
"Achoo, achoo." Instantly, Yun Duo and Si Yuling sneezed incessantly, their noses stinging from the smell of chili peppers, and tears welling up in their eyes.
But it smells so good, it makes your mouth water.
When the two dishes were served, the two couldn't take their eyes off them. They couldn't help it; after eating Yan Jin's food, they both discovered that they couldn't live without spicy food. So, these two dishes were especially to their liking.
As soon as the fragrant, soft white rice was placed on the table, Yan Jin said directly, "Alright, let's start eating."
"Okay." The two nodded at the same time.
Serving rice, a bite of fish fillets the mouth; the fish is tender and chewy, and most importantly, there are no fish bones. It's spicy and numbing, offering a different kind of flavor, unlike any lobster I've had before. It's especially delicious.
Then we ate Mao Xue Wang (a spicy Sichuan dish). The blood from the cuckoo bird was smooth and flavorful, yet not fishy. The luncheon meat was savory, and there were shrimp inside. The bean sprouts were crisp, and the overall taste was quite good.
Although both Maoxuewang (a spicy Sichuan dish) and boiled fish are spicy dishes and have similar cooking methods, they taste different because of the different ingredients.
However, both Yunduo and Si Yuling liked it very much. Paired with a bowl of fragrant rice, well, it was simply delicious.
Since meeting Yan Jin, the two of them have been quite fortunate in terms of food, indulging in plenty of delicious dishes and developing rather picky palates.
The two ate until their bellies were round. Seeing Yun Duo leaning back in her chair without any regard for her image, Si Yuling wanted to do the same, but looking at Yan Jin opposite him, he forced himself to stay upright and didn't lean over.
Yan Jin looked at Si Yuling with a smile in her eyes. This man really knows how to pretend. It's not like she hasn't seen him like that before. She's even seen him when he was a little wolf, lying on his belly.
Although she saw what she shouldn't have seen, it was the appearance of a young wolf, completely different from the appearance of a mature man, so she couldn't say she had seen it. In any case, Yan Jin would never admit that she had seen it.
Si Yuling had no idea that he had completely revealed his true colors in front of this little woman; otherwise, he would have been much more carefree.
"How much longer are you going to stay at the military academy?" Si Yuling suddenly asked Yan Jin.
Yan Jin was taken aback. "What?" She had never considered staying for long.
"Didn't you say you like traveling and seeing scenery?" Si Yuling raised an eyebrow. "You've almost mastered mecha, and you're quite skilled. It seems there's not much left for you to learn at the military academy. Are you planning to stay there forever?"
