Fang Rong was startled by him and was wide awake. Knowing Fang Hua's temperament, he could only sigh helplessly, "Come on up."
Fang Hua's eyes lit up, but he hadn't forgotten the question from earlier.
"The bed is too small," he said softly. "It keeps creaking."
Fang Rong rubbed her eyes. She hadn't even taken off her clothes yet, which made getting up much easier. "Then I'll go to your room to sleep."
He seemed to suddenly remember the task he had given Fang Hua: "Did you buy the groceries?"
"Okay." Fang Hua said with a self-satisfied expression, "I also washed it while I was at it."
Fang Rong was somewhat surprised. "Not bad, quite self-disciplined." He put on his shoes and went over, telling Fang Hua to move the bed back first, and they would sleep in the master bedroom together later. He then went to check on the kitchen, "which will save us from washing vegetables."
Actually, washing vegetables is quite troublesome, especially leafy greens, which need to be separated before washing. Fang Hua's self-awareness saved him a lot of trouble.
"Where's the food?"
"It's in the refrigerator."
"Hmm, you've learned your lesson; you even know to put it in the refrigerator." Fang Rong praised him as expected.
He opened the refrigerator and saw a few simple items inside: meat, shrimp, ribs, and...
besides……
"What is this?" Forgive his ignorance, but he didn't recognize what kind of mushroom it was. "A shiitake mushroom?"
"Hmm?" Fang Hua frowned. "Isn't this wood ear fungus?"
"Wood...ear?" Fang Rong was taken aback. "Didn't you say that wood ear is black and looks like an ear?"
"Hmm." Fang Hua took an umbrella-shaped mushroom head out of the trash can. "Isn't this black, ear-like thing?"
...
Fang Rong had nothing to say. "Never mind, any dish that's edible is a good dish."
Suddenly feeling very tired, he was relieved that he hadn't bought anything else wrong. He encouraged Fang Hua and explained what real wood ear mushrooms looked like to him. He even spent some time searching for a picture online for him. After seeing it, Fang Hua finally understood.
"I've seen this before, but it doesn't look like it when it's soaking in water, so..." So I bought the wrong one.
Fang Rong was filled with regret, but she didn't dampen his enthusiasm. "Although I bought the wrong thing, it's still quite delicious, it's just..."
It means they threw away the best part.
"I'll wash the vegetables next time. Some vegetables require different preparation methods. You can watch from the side and wash them when you're more skilled."
"Hmm." Although he didn't say it explicitly, Fang Hua could tell that he seemed to have done something wrong.
Seeing his dejected expression, Fang Rong couldn't help but pat his bald head. "Are you still hungry? I'll cook for you."
Fang Hua was stunned for a moment, then overjoyed, "Really?"
"Of course it's true." Fang Rong looked at the mushroom head in the trash can and felt a pang of regret. The essence of a mushroom was all here, and he had just thrown it away. It was worth more than ten yuan.
Because the more money you print, the less valuable it becomes, the government basically stopped printing money in the later period. Only in 2100 was a new version of money issued, where one hundred yuan was equivalent to three hundred yuan before. So although things seem cheaper, they are actually more than three times more expensive than before.
Especially natural vegetables and meats, which have always been in short supply despite their high price.
"Go outside and wait, I'll be right there." Fang Rong took out the white part of the mushroom and cut it into rows. She also made two more cuts on the parts of the meat that hadn't been cut properly. She put the ribs in water to boil, and removed the intestines from the shrimp's backs, otherwise it would always feel a bit awkward to eat, as if she were eating something dirty.
Fang Hua didn't know how to handle the shrimp. She just washed them under the tap, then put them in the refrigerator and froze them to death. Because of the cold, the shrimp kept jumping around and were everywhere in the refrigerator. Some were even stuck to the inside of the refrigerator and couldn't be pried off. Fang Rong spent a lot of effort to break them all off, planning to mix some flour with them and fry them to make a snack for Fang Hua.
Fang Hua watched for a while and was amazed by his skillful movements. They were truly fluid and seamless.
He paused for a moment, then suddenly ran out. Not long after, he ran back, holding a fan in his hand, and fanned Fang Rong from behind. He was quite sensible, knowing it was hot now, and Fang Rong was a frugal person who would never turn on the air conditioner if she could avoid it. The kitchen was small, and turning on the stove made people dizzy from the stuffiness, so only he could tolerate it.
In order to finish quickly, Fang Rong turned up the fire very high, and now his head was covered in sweat. Fortunately, the fire burned quickly, but some parts were a little overcooked and some were undercooked. Home-style dishes don't have many requirements. The only change was that he originally wanted to make stir-fried wood ear mushrooms with meat, then he made stir-fried mushrooms with meat, and finally he made stir-fried mushrooms with meat.
Thankfully, it wasn't too bad, just not very tasty. Fang Hua had removed the mushroom heads, so there weren't enough mushrooms. They added a few more pieces of pork ribs to make a plate. Fang Rong peeled the shrimp along with the skin while the pork rib soup was still simmering.
The food had just been thawed with hot water, and the contrast between the hot and cold temperatures made it easier to peel. Fang Hua saw this and wanted to help; he always seemed so kind-hearted and wanted to try everything he saw.
"You have to wash your hands first," Fang Rong said, pointing to the faucet. "And who's going to fan me while you peel the shrimp?"
He was just joking, but Fang Hua took it seriously. He wriggled his tail behind him, rolled up his fan, and continued fanning himself, playing the game with great skill.
"Pfft." Fang Rong laughed. "I never thought your tail could be used like this."
He casually touched it; the long, thin tail had some soft fur on it, which was quite nice to touch.
Fang Hua froze, his face immediately turning red, the redness spreading from his neck to the tips of his ears, and the fan fell to the ground with a thud.
Fang Rong looked at him, puzzled. "What's wrong?"
