Chapter 32 Touched

But he still had many laps to go, and he kept pushing himself to the limit. In fact, he had forgotten how many laps he had run, only Fang Hua himself had finished running and kept track of it for him.

He crouched down, picked up Fang Rong, and carried her away despite her refusal.

"Put me down, this isn't right." Fang Rong had no strength and could only struggle a little.

Fang Hua didn't say anything, but simply hugged him tighter, reaffirming her belief.

Since everyone had finished running, they rested for ten minutes, while the instructors, holding umbrellas, coldly watched them.

Fang Hua ran lap after lap along the inner circle until he had run all the remaining laps, and only then was his task for this morning completed.

Then came cleaning and folding the blankets. Fang Rong was completely exhausted and didn't want to move at all. Her hands and feet were cramping, and she felt weak all over. She just wanted to lie down and go to sleep. She couldn't keep going at all, so Fang Hua did most of the remaining tasks. He wasn't afraid of getting tired, but he was a little slow.

According to the instructor, if they didn't complete the task in the morning, they wouldn't be allowed to eat lunch, so the two of them naturally went hungry.

In fact, I didn't finish my tasks in the morning. I did have breakfast at 7:00 AM, but I missed it because of my morning run.

They naturally couldn't keep up with the evening's tasks either, but the instructors didn't rush them. They just said that any tasks they couldn't finish today would be carried over to tomorrow, and they could continue doing them the next day.

Keep adding to your efforts, if you can't finish today, put it on tomorrow, if you can't finish tomorrow, put it on the day after tomorrow, and keep adding until you finish it.

It was probably because they considered that the new recruits might not be able to keep up at first, and also because the team Fang Rong joined was not an ordinary team, but a team full of top-notch soldiers, the kind who are proficient in everything and can fill in for any team that is short of people, so there was no specific requirement to do a certain amount on the first day. They were just told that once they caught up, they would have to do double the amount.

Fang Rong was afraid that Fang Hua would get tired, so she didn't insist for too long. She took him away when it was getting dark, since he was already crippled and it would be Fang Hua who was doing all the work if she insisted.

Before leaving, I casually used my personal computer to transfer the project I had worked on that day to the instructor.

The computer is a great thing. It clearly shows how many laps it ran, how much work it did, and how much time it took. After cleaning, you can use the computer to scan the cleanliness and if it passes the test, you're done.

Despite this, being newcomers to the field, they only managed to do the work of others in a morning after a whole day's work. In fact, Fang Hua ended up doing the work of two people all by himself.

The army truly lives up to its reputation as a place for honing one's skills. Time management is paramount. We have morning exercises and runs at six o'clock, and by the time we finish, it's already too late. We haven't even made it to breakfast at seven. The rest of the tasks aren't too demanding: folding blankets, cleaning, and then lunch. We missed that too. Luckily, I bought a dozen or so steamed buns in the morning to tide us over. Otherwise, maintaining such a high level of physical activity all day without food would have crushed even the strongest person.

I missed the afternoon physical training, posture training, and even the study of regulations.

The more difficult ones are tactical maneuvers, shooting, throwing electromagnetic bullets, practicing mecha tactics, superpower tactics, and so on. Fang Rong doesn't need to participate in the latter two because he doesn't have superpowers and won't mutate.

Fang Rong felt bad that Fang Hua wanted everything, because Fang Hua's training had been delayed due to his actions.

He knew he couldn't keep up, and Meng Xiuyuan had said to do as much as he could, but the instructor's disdainful look still hurt him. He couldn't help but take it seriously and trained so hard that his body couldn't take it, which worried Fang Hua, who followed behind him.

I didn't get involved in the subsequent matters; Fang Hua did most of the work.

However, Fang Hua had no temper or complaints, and willingly continued to stay by his side, occasionally lending a hand.

Fang Rong realized that she had acted impulsively, not only hurting her own body but also dragging Fang Hua down with her, and felt a pang of sadness.

It's like an ugly duckling who has wandered into a flock of swans. Feeling inferior, he feels he doesn't belong here at all, but Fang Hua can't leave him.

He's like a nursing baby, still unable to separate from the mother's womb. Maybe he can in the future, but right now, the trust and dependence on him is unparalleled.

"Just do your best." Meng Xiuyuan seemed to know his predicament and sent him a text message, "Fang Rong, I don't have high expectations for you, just be a little better than the average person."

He didn't have high expectations for Fang Rong, so he always favored him. Sometimes, being too indulgent is also harmful, since Fang Hua is enough for him.

Fang Hua is like a 10, while the other elite soldiers are like separate 10s, 1 and 0, which together equal 1 plus 0.

But Fang Hua is inseparable; he's always a 10, whether together or apart, he's always a 10.

10 is better than 1.0, or 1 is better than 10.

Meng Xiuyuan had always known this, so he had high expectations for Fang Hua, requiring not only that the instructors keep a close eye on him, but also that his adjutant report to him at any time.

On the contrary, Fang Rong is like a tutor who accompanies a prince in ancient times. He is just a supporting character, and the only requirement for a supporting character is to avoid making mistakes.

Fang Rong lowered his arm, feeling a wave of disappointment. Even Meng Xiuyuan didn't think highly of him.

He was already exhausted, and on top of that, he was utterly disappointed in himself. As soon as he got back, he didn't want to move. He lay on the bed with his eyes closed, pressing his eyes down with his arm.

I don't want to listen, I don't want to see, and I don't want to think.

He remained in this empty state for a while, and he didn't know how much time had passed when suddenly a weight came down on him, the bed creaked and groaned as if it couldn't bear the weight. Fang Hua was pressing down on him and looked up at him.

“I’m not in the mood to cook today. Here’s some money, go buy it yourself.” He forced a smile, took a whole bill from the bedside table drawer, and handed it to Fang Hua. “Buy a lot and put it in the fridge. You can eat it if you get hungry tonight.”
