"Go pack anything you want to take now," Fang Rong said, ruffling his hair.
He used to do this often when Fang Hua was little, but he was very well-behaved back then. Now that he's grown up, it feels weird to touch his head like that.
"Okay." Feitian had very little stuff, just a few clothes. He originally planned to bring his blankets and such, but Fang Rong didn't agree. These were too many things in the dilapidated military area, and bringing them would only be a burden.
"The military region may be more complex than you imagine, so you should be prepared."
"Oh." Feitian probably couldn't imagine what the military region was like yet, and there was a hint of longing in his eyes.
He's just a little kid, surely no one would bully him?
Although there are scumbags everywhere, most of the men in the military region are chauvinistic and rarely bother with a child.
“Come with me to the South District.” Fang Rong took his hand.
"No." Fang Hua separated the two of them. "Feitian, come with me to the East District."
"Do you believe it?" Fang Rong asked skeptically.
"I can do it," Fang Hua said, patting his chest.
Fang Rong was still a little worried. "Let's go to the South District together."
"No," Fang Hua disagreed. "You have to come with me."
He was particularly insistent on this matter, and it's easy to guess that he was afraid that Feitian was getting too close to Fang Rong.
Fang Rong narrowed her eyes. "Alright, if you insist on doing this, you must take good care of Feitian."
"Mm." Fang Hua smiled.
Feitian didn't have any objections, nor did she insist on following Fang Rong. In fact, saying that she liked him didn't make any sense at all.
He's just a kid who hasn't even grown his first hair yet; admiration is more likely than liking.
When the three of them left, they hitched a ride and arrived at the city gate. Two superhumans led them around, and the gatekeepers didn't give them any trouble.
Moreover, the two men were carrying soldier IDs and said that Feitian was a prisoner they had captured. The men quickly opened the door for them and let them in.
Things went much more smoothly after that. Feitian already had superpowers, so he was recruited immediately after a little mention.
His ability is a rare one, the kind the team is in need of. That afternoon, they called to tell him the good news that he had been assigned to the logistics unit.
The logistics unit is the kind of auxiliary unit, and there are many extraordinary people and things in it, such as those who control the wind and clouds, those who control lightning, those who control the amplitude of magnetic fields, and now there is another one who budgets for the future.
Fang Rong hadn't been to the army for a long time, so he felt a bit unfamiliar with the place. The main problem was that everyone thought he was dead, so seeing him alive and kicking was quite unbelievable.
He wasn't fired, though, as his absence for so many days seemed a bit odd. However, I later heard that Li Wenyang had helped him out.
Li Wenyang was quite helpful; during the days he was away, he covered for him, fooling the instructor by saying he was helping to handle matters related to the World Society.
The World Society only had one undercover agent, Li Wenyang. The instructor had once said that he could allocate manpower as needed, so he pretended to allocate Fang Rong.
In fact, Li Wenyang was even more impressive than he had imagined; he was a double agent and a spy.
In his early years, the military region sent him on a mission to infiltrate the Tianxia Society and investigate the truth. Who knew that after he rose to a high position, the Tianxia Society would send him to infiltrate the military region again, thus making him a double agent.
He's quite capable; he managed to handle the relationship between the two sides very well, and his scheme hasn't been exposed yet. No wonder he was entrusted with important responsibilities. He really did a good job; he even saved Fang Rong's life at that hotel.
No wonder he said he would know he was a good person once he returned to the military region.
He is indeed a good person.
After settling things at the military region, Fang Rong thought about going back to his grandfather's house to apologize. He felt it was too unfair of him to just disappear like that.
The old man didn't mind at all. He himself came from the military region and knew that sometimes training was busy and there were also some dangerous missions to perform.
"It's good that you can come back." The old man pulled him to sit down. "You don't know, it's so quiet here without you and Fang Hua. I miss the days when you were both here, and your cooking, hahaha."
Fang Rong smiled as well, "I'm glad the old man doesn't mind us bothering him."
The old man not only didn't mind, but he was very welcoming. He loved lively atmospheres. There were some young people or left-behind children in the neighborhood, and whenever he had free time, he would use candy to lure them over to play together and listen to their antics.
"Oh, it's almost evening. Grandpa must be hungry. I'll go cook." They set off at eight in the morning, arrived at their destination around one in the afternoon, then went to the military base to report for duty and rehearse, only returning in the evening.
"Alright, go ahead." The old man smiled at him. "Where's Fang Hua? Why hasn't he come back?"
"He might not be back for a while." The old man clearly preferred Fang Hua a bit more, beating around the bush before asking casually. Was he being shy?
Fang Rong went into the kitchen to prepare dinner. He had been away for a while, and the old man had only cooked a little something by himself. There were no ingredients left in the kitchen, only some noodles.
"Let's have some cold noodles." It's summer, and even though the air conditioning is on, sometimes I still don't want to eat anything hot, so cold noodles are a good choice.
Fang Rong cooked the noodles, took them out and cooled them with cold water. Finally, she minced the garlic, added some seasonings, and poured the mixture over the cold noodles. That made the cold noodles quite satisfying.
Fang Rong scooped up two bowls, one for the old man and one for himself. But Fang Hua had already returned and was sitting in a chair chatting with the old man.
Fang Rong simply gave him hers and went to the kitchen to get another bowl.
When he arrived, the father and son were sitting at the table, staring longingly at the noodles, but not touching them.
Fang Rong was taken aback. "What's wrong? Is the noodle not good?"
"No, Fang Hua said this makes the noodles look like there's more." The old man looked confused. "Does this really make more?"
"..."
"Fang Hua, you idiot!" Fang Rong slapped him. "What do you think this is? Cold noodles won't swell up from being soaked."
"Huh?!!" Fang Hua was completely dumbfounded.
