"What are you doing there?" She could still trust Fang Hua completely, even though he had been acting a bit strange lately. "He almost scared me to death."
The night was dimly lit, with only the lights from the four corner towers occasionally flickering. Fang Hua stood still, half of his body hidden in the darkness, his gaze somber.
"What are you doing?" Fang Rong said, a little uncomfortable. "Come here."
Fang Hua walked slowly, step by step, with a cat-like gait.
Fang Rong couldn't wait any longer and walked over to her. "Why didn't you answer me when I asked you a question?"
Fang Hua remained silent, and small bloodstains appeared on his white shirt.
“You…” Fang Rong stopped in her tracks, a sense of unease creeping into her heart.
He always felt that this wasn't Fang Hua. Fang Hua would never be so cold to him and ignore him when he spoke.
Although he has been acting a bit strange lately, old habits die hard, and we can still occasionally see his innocent side.
With a flick of her finger, Fang Rong sent a stone flying from the corner and landing behind Fang Hua's head.
Fang Hua seemed not to notice, and reached out his slender, fair hand to stroke Fang Rong's face, then down his cheek to his chin and chest.
He moved closer and whispered in Fang Rong's ear, "Looks like my acting wasn't very successful; you noticed."
Fang Rong clenched his fist, ready to strike at any moment.
"Hahahaha~" A magnetic laugh rang out, and 'Fang Hua' underwent a change, slowly growing taller and eventually becoming Li Wenyang.
"You don't even recognize me anymore." Li Wenyang shook his head. "You're so stupid."
Fang Rong was furious, "What are you doing here in the middle of the night, transforming into Fang Hua?"
"Shh!" Li Wenyang covered his mouth. "I just saw Fang Hua get up. He seemed to be awakened by some noise, so he got up too."
He was afraid of getting into trouble by himself, so he transformed into Fang Hua's appearance to bolster his courage. At least if he encountered that fire dragon again, the fire dragon wouldn't dare to make any rash moves.
"Oh, I see." Fang Rong looked completely bewildered. "Then where did he go?"
“I don’t know, but I found some traces here.” Li Wenyang led him to the hole. “The newspapers I stuffed in yesterday are gone.”
"It really is." Fang Rong leaned over for a look. "Do you think that person is crazy, deliberately trying to scare us?"
“I was just trying to scare you,” Li Wenyang corrected him. “I’m not female.”
"Me neither." The people in the orc world must have never seen real females; they are all soft, cute, and beautiful. They, as grown men, really don't fit the aesthetic standards.
Wait a minute, speaking of aesthetics, isn't Fang Hua's aesthetic sense also problematic?
Just as he thought Fang Hua was very beautiful, Fang Hua also thought he was very beautiful. Something must be wrong.
Are all orcs gossiping about the extreme?
I don't like cute, soft, and easily manipulated pretty females; I prefer a tough, masculine guy like him.
That's absolutely infuriating.
"Looking back now, it's strange that the people who were sent back to their countries during training a few days ago were all superhumans who couldn't transform," Li Wenyang said, stroking his chin.
"What's so strange about that? Superhumans are naturally weaker than mutants." As a fellow superhuman, Fang Rong understood this point; there was simply no comparison.
"That's what they say, but the number is too big. Sometimes a dozen or twenty people are missing in one night, and this has continued for several days, including today when four or five people are missing."
Logically speaking, after seven days, one should be able to adapt to life here and there shouldn't be any major problems. How could there be any shortage?
But if there are really fewer of them, then that means one thing: they weren't sent back home because they were sick; they were captured by beastmen who infiltrated the country.
“I suspect the army is hiding something from us? Some of those repatriated were actually kidnapped by the orcs.” His conjecture was too audacious.
"Impossible, the army isn't something to be trifled with." Such a large army couldn't possibly be unaware of this and simply let it go unchecked.
"Of course I know, but if there are spies in the army..." Li Wenyang didn't finish his sentence.
"How could there be spies in the army?" Everyone longed to live in this forest and have a place there, and they were willing to risk their lives for it. It was impossible for anyone to betray them.
“Maybe they weren’t doing it willingly,” Li Wenyang reminded him. “Have you forgotten about that fire dragon?”
High-ranking orcs can use their mental power to control low-ranking orcs. If those who come to kidnap people are all of that type, someone will definitely be manipulated.
Now that he put it that way, it seems so. "Then what can we do? Just leave it to fate?"
"In short, stay away from the orcs around you, and even if you're in the same dormitory, try not to huddle together," Li Wenyang said solemnly.
"Hmm." Fang Rong knew this, fearing being attacked from the shadows.
"Are you saying the military doesn't care?"
"The military wants to intervene, but it can't, and they're prepared to take advantage of the situation."
"What's the meaning?"
"Think about it, these people, once they're taken over, will definitely be on the bottom side. They're all males, so who would accept it? If there are too many of them, they'll definitely form cliques and start plotting a rebellion. If the army then lends a hand, with inside help and outside support, taking over the primeval forest will be just around the corner." Li Wenyang's imagination was wild, yet his analysis was remarkably logical.
"Holy crap." Fang Rong was completely in awe. "How can you be so amazing? It's a shame you're not a politician."
Li Wenyang glanced at him and said, "I don't like being restricted."
He crouched down and searched for something in the malnourished, low-lying grass.
"What are you looking for?" Fang Rong asked, following behind him.
"Let's see if there are any more clues." Li Wenyang shook his head. "It's a pity. Fang Hua definitely knows more than we do. If only he would tell us."
