Chapter 99 Xu Hongrui's Neurotic History

He felt much more relaxed after Xu Hongrui left, and even ginseng chicken soup tasted better.

To be honest, this soup was really well made, with excellent color, aroma, and taste. If my stomach allowed it, I would have loved to drink it all.

Li Wenyang lay in bed, sipping his chicken soup slowly, and it took him more than an hour to finish a bowl.

She's still quite fragile. If she eats even a little too much, she gets bloated and aches, though it's not a lot of pain. It's more like a throbbing, pulsating pain, like her heart.

There were still a few bones inside, and it would be a shame to throw them away. After thinking about it for a moment, Li Wenyang decided to put them by his bedside and eat them after he woke up.

By then, he had almost recovered enough to eat a piece or two of ribs without any problem.

He covered himself with the blanket and closed his eyes to sleep, but the pain in his stomach was so intense that he couldn't fall asleep no matter how much he tossed and turned.

Li Wenyang forced himself to sleep, but at first he still couldn't fall asleep. However, he gradually lost all sense of his surroundings.

I can't sleep soundly, there's always a medicinal smell, and my stomach is burning.

He opened his eyes groggily and saw Xu Hongrui sitting by the bed, bending down to apply medicated wine to him. However, Xu Hongrui was probably afraid of hurting him, so he rubbed very lightly, relying entirely on the spiciness of the medicated wine itself to work.

"You were the one who hit it, so what's the point of doing this now?" Li Wenyang couldn't understand.

When something happens to him, he loses his judgment; the motto is that only by having self-awareness can one live a long life.

I've always followed this principle over the years: by narrowing down my capabilities, I can reap greater rewards after success.

“If you don’t provoke me, I won’t hit you.” Xu Hongrui intensified his movements, rubbing his abdomen in circles.

Li Wenyang thought carefully about which of his words had angered him, and finally concluded that none of them had. Every word he said was for self-preservation, and he had never used any kind of provocation.

"Are you mistaken? I only said a few words." Li Wenyang looked at him suspiciously.

Xu Hongrui avoided his gaze, "There are bruises on it, they need to be dissolved first."

"You..." Li Wenyang seemed to have received an answer, "Do you like me?"

Honestly, after all these years of being a playboy, there aren't many people who genuinely like him. Even if there are, they have ulterior motives, such as being attracted to his physique, appearance, or simply liking the fabricated backstory he created.

Each time he changes his identity, he also makes up a profession, such as doctor, model, or celebrity, and finally he simply makes up a CEO.

Most people are attracted to his appearance, and over time he came to believe that no one would like his plain and unassuming personality.

It is said that people nowadays still dislike having multiple partners at the same time. Li Wenyang, who was dating several men and women at the same time, was very self-aware and knew that he was just trying to make money and didn't dare to have such extravagant hopes.

After all, they had different goals. One wanted his body, and the other wanted to swindle his money. It was a case of mutual consent, like Zhou Yu beating Huang Gai.

Xu Hongrui paused in his hand movements. "You can think of it that way too."

This statement seems to be an ambiguous answer; it can be said to be yes, and it can also be said not to be.

Li Wenyang struggled to sit up, placed the pillow beside him behind his back, kicked off the blanket, spread his legs, revealing a voluptuous figure, and asked, "Want to do it?"

Xu Hongrui's expression froze slightly, and he stopped what he was doing, silently covering it up again.

"There will be many more opportunities in the future, so there's no need to rush today."

“That’s true.” Li Wenyang laughed and became honest. “I just want to pay off my debts as soon as possible. It’s really annoying to have you chasing after me all the time.”

He carefully observed Xu Hongrui's expression. Xu Hongrui's face showed a slight movement, but no extra emotion.

However, Li Wenyang still guessed something: Xu Hongrui seemed to like him.

And it seems she's liked him for a long time; her stalking and getting close to him were all for his sake, and she even went so far as to pretend to be someone else and sleep with him.

No wonder I feel an incredibly strong sense of familiarity with everyone I'm with, especially their eyes, which are always the same, as if I've seen them before.

I should have realized this a long time ago. There's no such thing as a coincidence in the world. It's one thing if one or two things look alike, but if it keeps happening like this, even a pig would have guessed it.

So, it seems Xu Hongrui has been abandoned by him at least twenty or thirty times. Over the years, he has been running around and has deceived many people, but he hasn't actually slept with many. Moreover, once he gets what he wants, he loses interest and is even more ruthless than the people he sleeps with.

In general, the one who initiates the relationship abandons the one who is not. He seemed to know this rule, so after having sex with her, he left decisively, without giving her a chance to back out.

With this in mind, it's no wonder that Xu Hongrui would get angry and embarrassed every time he faced Xu Hongrui's cold back, and couldn't help but beat him up.

It's such a pity for such a person, yet I still like him.

Li Wenyang's mood improved. More than being beaten, he cared about the feeling of being liked, as if he were being loved and his flaws were being tolerated.

He felt that the meal wasn't a waste of time, as it allowed him to test the sincerity of others.

Living in a world of deception, we can no longer distinguish between sincerity and falsehood; most of it is just playing along and shouldn't be taken seriously.

Li Wenyang lay back on the bed with a clear conscience, enjoying the massage Xu Hongrui was giving him.

"A little above..."

Xu Hongrui glared at him, but still moved his hand up a little as instructed.

"It's a little itchy, can you scratch it for me?" Li Wenyang spread his hands. "If you hurt me, you have to take responsibility, right?"

"You're pushing your luck." Xu Hongrui scratched him. "Is this alright?"

"Hmm." Li Wenyang turned to look at the table; the soup bowl that had been there was gone. "Where's my chicken soup?"
