The Seventh Night [Chapter 76 available]

Fang Rong laughed, "When did you become a celebrity?"

"Yesterday's match?" the female said excitedly. "By the way, you know Fang Hua, right? Could you get me his autograph? I like him the most."

"Okay," Fang Rong agreed. "I'll do this."

"Okay." The female quickly completed the formalities for him. "By the way, my name is San San, I'm the third child in my family, everyone calls me San San, you can call me San San too."

"Hmm." Fang Rong casually glanced around the lobby and accidentally noticed a cat sitting on the chair at the front desk. It was snow-white and very cute.

“This is my cat, Yezi, meow.” San San quickly called to it.

"Meow~" Leaf responded very cooperatively.

Fang Rong found it amusing and beckoned to it. The cat, quite intelligent, nimbly jumped up, came over, rubbed against his chest, and even licked his neck.

San San was dumbfounded. "Damn it, I didn't even lick it, and you licked it first!!!"

Is there no reasoning involved?

As soon as Fang Rong left, he immediately went over and asked, "What does it taste like?"

Meow~

Fang Rong had already walked far away and could no longer hear their whispers.

The job he took was relatively easy; it was a missing persons case. The file showed a village called Xingfu Village where everyone had disappeared overnight.

With so many people, it's impossible for them to magically transform into living people, right?

They must be hiding somewhere, or part of some organization?

Because the target is so large, the task is not difficult. Of course, because the target is so large, there must be something fishy about it that it could disappear so suddenly.

Moreover, they are very capable, after all, they represent the entire village.

To save energy, Fang Rong took a maglev train directly. The village was quite far from the military region, and the mecha would run out of power after just one round trip, let alone when facing the enemy.

It's noon now, and the maglev train has traveled along without a single person in sight, but there are quite a few cats around, which is very strange.

Logically speaking, if there are no people around, how do these cats survive?

If there were one cat per household, there would be at least several hundred households, right? There are only a dozen or twenty households here, which doesn't make sense.

He got off the bus early and walked over, taking the opportunity to see the village.

Some doors were wide open, some were half-open, and some were completely closed. Fang Rong pushed one open and went inside. Sure enough, there was no one there, except for a few cats that jumped down from the wall and stared at him with hostility.

Could it be a cat village?

There are too many cats.

He randomly checked a few houses, and they were all filled with cats; there wasn't a single person in them.

Fang Rong thought and thought but couldn't figure out the reason, so she simply kept it to herself and got up to go to another village.

It was the same as before; there was no one there, the whole village was deserted, money was lying around, the TV was still playing advertisements, and there were bowls and chopsticks on the table, so it didn't seem like a temporary evacuation.

What exactly is the reason?

Did they all disappear overnight?

"There's a ghost! There's a ghost! Help me! Is there anyone who can help me?" A voice suddenly came from next door.

Fang Rong climbed over the wall in a few steps. The other side was a mess, clearly indicating that a struggle had taken place.

His face lit up with joy; he had found a clue.

"There's a ghost! There's a ghost! Help me! Is there anyone who can help me?"

This sentence keeps repeating itself like a parrot, but there's no one around. What's going on?

They were so happy for nothing, thinking they had found a clue.

Fang Rong pushed open the small door and went inside. Like the other house, it was full of cats and there was no one else around. There was a parrot, though, tied to the window and kept repeating the same phrase.

This sentence must have been left by its owner; a parrot cannot lie.

So what happened to his owner?

Would that make him shout out the words "There's a ghost?"

He must have been frightened by something.

Fang Rong searched carefully and found many scratch marks on the floor and sofa, which looked like cat scratches. Could it be the cats causing this?

Fang Rong couldn't understand why a cat would yell that there was a ghost.

It must have been frightened by something.

Fang Rong took the birdcage down and teased the parrot.

"Go ahead and shout, no one will save you even if you shout until you're hoarse." Most parrots can mimic their owner's speech and actions. If the parrot can recreate the scene and language of that time, it might be able to reveal more information.

"You idiot, I won't shout." The parrot was quite clever; it actually understood what he was saying.

"You're such an idiot, you didn't even know your owner was in trouble." Since the parrot can communicate normally, it means it's not unintelligent. Maybe it really can pull something out of it?

“I know, that idiot is dead.” The parrot shook its colorful head. “He deserved it, he deserved it, he abused me.”

"Huh?" This is unexpected. "How did he mistreat you?"

"He won't give me any food, he won't give me any food." The parrot tilted its head and looked at him, its head twitching.

"Then you're lucky to have met me." Fang Rong took out a bag of sunflower seeds and waved it in front of it. Because of Fang Hua, he always carried some snacks with him, such as cakes, bread, sunflower seeds, and lollipops, filling a whole box. "If you can answer my question, I'll give them to you."

"What do you want to ask?" The parrot was quite intelligent and could actually communicate with him normally.

"I want to ask what happened here?" Fang Rong peeled a sunflower seed for it. "You've been here all along, you should know, right?"

"It's so dark, and there are so many eyes, it's scary." Being a parrot, it couldn't fully express what it wanted to say.

"Hmm." Fang Rong peeled another one. "Are there any others?"

"No, I'm too scared to look." The parrot was still a little timid when it talked about it, and it tucked its head into its neck in fright. "It climbed up and tried to grab me, I was so scared."
