Chapter 28 The Arrogant Tang Shaorong

Xia Yaqin's eyes were bloodshot and filled with murderous intent as she stared intently at Tang Shaorong.

Qin Feng had never seen his mother with such an expression before, and he too felt a surge of murderous intent. However, Xia Yaqin held him back, saying as they walked:

"Go see your grandfather first, don't worry about him."

Helpless, Qin Feng could only do as his mother said for now, hoping that the young master of the Tang family wouldn't court death. He couldn't guarantee that he could hold back.

Tang Shaorong said to Xia Kai, "Greetings, Patriarch Xia. I am honored to meet you."

Although the man spoke politely, he lacked sincerity, and his bowing was extremely perfunctory.

"I was unaware of Young Master Tang's arrival. My apologies for my rudeness. May I ask what brings Young Master Tang to my Xia residence?"

"Hehe, does Patriarch Xia not welcome me, Tang?"

"I wouldn't dare. I'm certainly happy to welcome Young Master Tang. May I ask what brings you here?"

Tang Shaorong said with a smug look on his face: "Great thing, great thing! I plan to form a marriage alliance with your Xia family. Isn't that a good thing? I just wanted to talk to you, the head of the Xia family, about this matter, and then you showed up. Isn't that a coincidence?"

Xia Kai looked puzzled upon hearing this and asked, "Is it my Xia family's young lady who has caught Young Master Tang's eye?"

"It's Xia Yunkai's granddaughter, Xia Shihan. I think we're a good match. What does the Xia family head think?"

Xia Kai frowned, uncertainly asking, "Is it Xia Shihhan, who is not yet 14 years old?"

Tang Shaorong sensed the displeasure in Xia Kai's tone, and his voice turned cold as he said indifferently:

"What, does Patriarch Xia think there's a problem? Our marriage will be of great benefit to your Xia family. I don't need to say more about how the Xia family has fared these past years."

Xia Kai was furious. This was a threat, a blatant threat. But what could he do? His Xia family was too weak to contend with the Tang family. They could easily get many people to work for the Tang family without the Tang family having to get involved themselves. This had been proven over the years.

Xia Kai felt sad. Should the weak be bullied? He thought that if his Xia family produced a prodigy in the future, he would definitely settle this score. Unfortunately, this was just wishful thinking on his part.

Xia Kai suppressed his resentment and replied, "As long as both parties are willing, there is no problem."

This was the only excuse he could think of. If all else failed, he would have to repeat what happened more than ten years ago. But would the Tang family spare the Xia family this time?

Tang Shaorong seemed to have anticipated his reaction and said coldly, "I have already discussed it with Xia Yunliang, and he agreed."

Xia Kaixin's heart sank. He knew his younger brother Xia Yunliang's temperament. Under normal circumstances, he would not agree. Tang Shaorong must have used some underhanded means, coercing and enticing him to agree.

Seeing that Xia Kai remained silent, Tang Shaorong turned and left arrogantly, completely ignoring him, as if he had come to issue a notice rather than to discuss matters.

That's the truth. The Xia and Tang families are vastly different in strength and incomparable. If the Tang family wants to take the lead, the Xia family can't compete.

Xia Kai was both angry and resentful. Watching Tang Shaorong's triumphant departure, he took deep breaths to calm himself down.

"Master, this is a good thing, why do you seem a little downcast?"

"Yes, our marriage alliance with the Tang family has been a great help to our Xia family."

Xia Kai was even more enraged upon hearing these people's remarks, pointing at them and cursing:

"You are all short-sighted. Do you think he genuinely wants to form a marriage alliance with us? This is the attitude of a marriage alliance. As the head of the family, I only found out about the marriage at the very end. Do you think this is normal?"

And what do you think you've managed to curry favor with the Tang family? If we're incompetent, do you think the Tang family would even look at people like you? What use are you to him? Are you just sycophants?

After he finished cursing, he turned and walked away, leaving everyone looking at each other.

Xia Kai's scathing rebuke left them speechless, and they lowered their heads in shame and embarrassment.

People are always different; they are diverse.

"He just takes his anger out on us. Why wasn't he so arrogant when Young Master Tang was here?"

"Exactly, what's the use of just being a bully at home?"

These are just people who talk about others; aren't they also bullies among their own? They're arrogant and haughty towards Xia Yaqin, but servile and obsequious towards the Tang family.

...

Xia Yaqin led Qin Feng and the others to Xia Yunliang's courtyard.

There is a maple tree in the yard.

She was a little nervous and didn't know how to start the conversation.

Fortunately, Qin Feng helped her solve the problem.

"Grandpa, my mother, Xia Yaqin, has come back to visit you."

The Xia Yunliang family, who were worrying, suddenly became excited when they heard the name Yaqin and rushed out of the yard.

Xia Yunliang stared blankly at Xia Yaqin, who was now a married woman, and remained silent for a long time.

Looking at her father's aged appearance, Xia Yaqin's tears welled up in her eyes and slid down her cheeks.

In her memory, her father was still in his prime, but now his hair has started to turn white. Normally, he shouldn't be like this at his age; it must be due to restlessness and mental strain.

She felt very guilty looking at her aging father.

Xia Yunliang was very happy. Coming to his senses, he quickly said, "It's good that you're back, it's good that you're back. Come on in, don't just stand there like idiots."

Back in the courtyard, Xia Yunliang asked hesitantly, "Yaqin, which one is your husband?"

Qin Yi slapped his forehead and immediately stood up to bow to his father-in-law: "Your son-in-law Qin Yi greets your father-in-law and mother-in-law."

"Good, good, get up, not bad, not bad." The two elderly people were also very happy.

Qin Yi was quite good-looking, tall and slender, slim when dressed but muscular when undressed, with a dignified appearance and imposing presence.
