Black Water Alley
Even when driving, Fang Huai was vigilantly paying attention to the surrounding situation. The stalker had become more and more arrogant during this period, but he was too cunning, so it was difficult for him to determine whether the man was someone he knew.
He was so cunning that he avoided all surveillance and there was no clue left.
Fang Huai took advantage of Kong Lingyu being harassed and drove away decisively. Sure enough, not long after he left, that uncomfortable gaze appeared again.
The stalker's car was some distance away from him and he couldn't shake it off. Fang Huai's eyes flashed and he simply changed direction, deliberately keeping a certain distance from the car. At the next intersection, he chose the right time to shake off the taxi behind him.
After getting rid of the man, he stopped the car and sat in it waiting. He was sure that the man would catch up with him.
During the rush hour, the crowds of people overwhelmed the vehicles.
The taxi driver lit a cigarette impatiently and secretly glanced at the passengers in the back seat through the rearview mirror.
Logically, the temperature today is not low, but this person, whose gender cannot be identified, is wrapped tightly and wearing a pair of sunglasses, making himself look like a ghost.
He took a slow drag on his cigarette, opened the car window, rested his arm beside it, and asked curiously, "Hey, isn't it hot?"
The driver looked at the weather forecast and saw that it was 28 degrees today!
The person sitting in the back seat smelled the pungent secondhand smoke, frowned impatiently, rolled down the window, and had no intention of paying any attention to the driver. However, when he saw Fang Huai's car gradually driving out of sight, he rubbed his head irritably.
A hoarse, unpleasant voice came from the back seat. The man picked up the camera beside him and said impatiently, "Open the car door."
The driver was so frightened that he almost dropped the cigarette in his hand. He turned around and said in astonishment: "Get out of the car?"
The passenger nodded, and in an unhappy tone, urged: "Hurry up, don't waste my time."
The driver unlocked the car in a daze, and only realized after the passenger got out, "Hey, you haven't paid yet."
A fifty-dollar bill was thrown in from outside the car, and the passenger ran away without looking back.
Fang Huai deliberately parked his car in a conspicuous place so that the man could find it easily. He then hid not far away, waiting for the mouse to appear. As expected, a hurried figure appeared and cautiously approached the car, raising his camera to aim at the driver's seat.
"No one!" The man in black, knowing that he had been deceived, quickly squeezed into the crowd and ran away very quickly, but Fang Huai was not much behind. Relying on his height and long legs, he squeezed out of the crowd and quickly locked onto the man.
Now he was sure that the man was about 1.7 meters tall and very thin.
What exactly does he want to do? What is the purpose of following him for so long?
Fang Huai chased the stalker all the way and saw the man come to the entrance of a shabby alley. He turned back to look at him provocatively, shook the camera in his hand and ran in.
He hesitated for a moment at the entrance of the alley and then ran in.
Fang Huai felt uneasy in the intricate alleys. The man seemed very familiar with the place and disappeared in a flash. When Fang Huai saw him at another fork in the road, he was about to chase him deeper when his hand was grabbed.
Just as Fang Huai was about to shake him off, he heard Kong Lingyu's voice, anxious and worried, "What are you doing here?"
"I'm looking for someone." Fang Huai broke free from Kong Lingyu's hand, took a step back, and looked at Kong Lingyu suspiciously: "Are you following me?"
Seeing Fang Huai's reaction, Kong Lingyu laughed out of anger. For the first time, his tone was filled with anger when he spoke to Fang Huai. "Do you know where this is?"
"I don't know." Fang Huai looked around at the dilapidated environment and the deep alley with no end in sight. Only then did he realize and feel scared. He had come in impulsively and wanted to follow an unidentified stalker in.
He still felt a little guilty, and secretly glanced at Kong Lingyu's expression. Seeing the anxiety and worry on the man's face, he felt even more guilty.
"well."
A light sigh came from his ears. Fang Huai looked up into the distance and felt a sense of loss in his heart: he lost him.
"Fang Huai, who are you looking for?" Kong Lingyu grabbed Fang Huai's wrist and said softly, "I'll help you, but don't come here again."
After shaking off the troublesome Deng Yu, he followed the direction Fang Huai left and finally found the car, but discovered that Fang Huai got out of the car and ran wildly after someone. His heart was about to jump out.
Especially when he saw Fang Huai walking towards the depths of Black Water Lane regardless of anything, Kong Lingyu broke out in a cold sweat.
"Nothing, I just..." Fang Huai's first reaction was that he didn't want Kong Lingyu to know about the stalking. Just as he was about to find a random excuse to get away with it, Kong Lingyu held his face and forced him to look directly into Kong Lingyu's eyes.
His eyes were like a pool of water shrouded in black fog. Beneath the fog, a ferocious beast seemed poised to strike. The beast stirred up the fog. Kong Lingyu gently coaxed him, "Is someone following you?"
"Yes." Fang Huai was distracted for a moment, and when he came to his senses, he realized that he had let the cat out of the bag.
He waved Kong Lingyu's hand away in frustration, pursed his lips and said, "I'm leaving first."
"Maimai, do you know how dangerous it is here? There are all kinds of people here, and none of them are good people. You have to be careful." Kong Lingyu knew that Fang Huai didn't like the tone of command, so when he said the last sentence, he chose the most tactful method.
"You have to believe me." Seeing Fang Huai hesitate, Kong Lingyu continued, "Have you forgotten the patient who was severely burned a few days ago?"
Of course Fang Huai didn't forget, because the patient's case was so terrible that it made headlines, and he was admitted to their department. How could he not remember it?
He recalled the burns on the patient's body, the pungent smell of gasoline and burnt flesh still lingering in his nose. He looked around, his thoughts surfacing. He suddenly looked up, seeking truth from Kong Lingyu.
Kong Lingyu nodded. "That man was drunk late at night and passed by Heishui Alley. All his valuables were stolen. He was also stabbed and doused with gasoline..."
Fang Huai suddenly felt creepy. He looked around and saw that the alley, which was originally shabby and had no end in sight, looked like a man-eating monster as the sky darkened.
The place was in a state of disrepair, with sewage seeping into the raised bricks, emitting a foul odor. There wasn't a single surveillance camera in the entire Blackwater Alley. The victim hadn't woken up yet, and the scene was destroyed, leaving no clues.
The police investigated door to door, but were met with failure.
"Why do you know so much?" Fang Huai had never heard so much information in the hospital, especially about Black Water Alley. If he hadn't accidentally entered this time, he would never have known that there was such a chaotic place.
Kong Lingyu seemed to know this place very well.
Kong Lingyu was startled by the question. Seeing his frozen expression, Fang Huai keenly sensed his emotions. He seemed reluctant to speak. Fang Huai said, "Just pretend I didn't ask. Go out."
Fang Huai turned around and wanted to go out when he heard a low voice behind him.
"I used to live here." Kong Lingyu's throat was dry. He looked at Fang Huai's back and repeated, "I used to be a gangster and pickpocket there too."
He stood there with his fists clenched, tearing open his past, revealing its unbearable depths. The usually fearless Kong Lingyu was actually timid. He was afraid that if he spoke out, Fang Huai would be afraid of him.
Fang Huai stopped walking and said nothing for a long time. Kong Lingyu lowered his head in frustration, "I'm sorry..."
"Why apologize?"
Fang Huai turned his head to look at Kong Lingyu. He didn't know what Kong Lingyu's life was like after leaving the welfare home, but he got a glimpse of it from the director's mother last time.
"Kong Lingyu, please go out." Fang Huai saw Kong Lingyu still standing there, and couldn't help but frowned and reminded him, "It's dark."
After saying that, he ignored Kong Lingyu and walked straight out of the alley.
The flickering street lights made a crackling sound, distorting the shadows of the two people. The people walked a long way away, but their shadows were still in front of Kong Lingyu, but they were much more vague.
"You're still blaming me for using your patients for marketing, right?"
Kong Lingyu gritted his teeth, quickly caught up with Fang Huai, and whispered, "So you haven't wanted to see me these past few days, and now you don't care about me, right?"
"You're always avoiding me."
"If it weren't for what happened today, you still wouldn't want to bother with me, right?"
Questions filled with grievance and unwillingness were thrown at Fang Huai, catching him off guard.
Fang Huai, whose thoughts had been seen through, turned his head away and didn't look into Kong Lingyu's eyes. As an adult, he knew that Kong Lingyu's behavior was a win-win situation, but he didn't know if he was too idealistic, he actually felt a little disgusted by this behavior.
His ideas are too naive, but stubborn.
Fang Huai shook his head and said, "Kong Lingyu, this has nothing to do with me."
In fact, they are related. At first, Fang Huai thought that the marketing of the shipping schedule was only targeted at the sponsored families, but he did not expect that their company would also single out Ding Ling's case for publicity. Perhaps their original intention was good, to help Ding Ling attract social attention.
But during this period, their company's momentum was too strong, and many people were eyeing this piece of fat meat. As long as their company leaked a little information, those "blood-eating" bad reporters would rush into the hospital like flies, pointing their cameras at the timid girl, and their sharp interview sentences would once again reveal the girl's healed scars.
Bad and terrible.
He knew that businessmen valued profits and would use all available resources to gain benefits. Perhaps this was not their original intention, but when Fang Huai thought of Ding Ling's cautious look, he couldn't help but vent his anger on Kong Lingyu.
The girl, who had once been optimistic and cheerful, huddled at the foot of the bed again, crying and hugging herself, feeling insecure. She lived in fear every day, afraid that reporters would come in again and embarrass her with tricky and harsh questions.
Fang Huai glanced at Kong Lingyu coldly and said without any emotion, "You are a successful businessman."
"How dare I blame you?"
Kong Lingyu wanted to explain, but found that the words were too flimsy, so flimsy that the naked reality could be seen. "I'm sorry."
Fang Huai pinched the bridge of his nose tiredly and said, "You haven't done anything wrong to me."
"Kong Lingyu, let's not meet again. Maybe my behavior is childish, but I really don't want to see you again."
