Lame man

Lame man

Kong Lingyu was stunned for a moment, and said indifferently: "Like other children, I wanted to make money and make a lot of money after leaving the welfare home." He downplayed his experience: he was so ambitious that he left the welfare home, but because he was not an adult, no regular factory dared to accept him.

He started out as a dishwasher in a restaurant, earning half the salary of the average employee. After a year, he didn't get paid, and the boss demanded he pay for accommodation. Outraged, he beat up his boss and ran away. Then, while wandering around, he met his teacher—an unemployed vagrant in his thirties. After his teacher died, he started a business with his friend, and then... it all ended up like this.

The words were light, but Fang Huai felt that his understatement contained too much hardship. Kong Lingyu didn't say anything, and he didn't ask any further questions.

Kong Lingyu had been focusing on Fang Huai. Seeing his expression soften, he pretended to be pitiful and said, "Those years were really not easy for me. I suffered a lot."

At first Fang Huai tried to comfort him, but since this guy was addicted to pretending, he simply stopped and watched him perform.

"Uncle Zhou seemed to say just now: Another boss has come to donate money. A lot of people have come to the welfare home recently, did you know that?" Fang Huai interrupted Kong Lingyu and asked when he saw that the director was not coming back for a long time.

"Maimai—" Kong Lingyu looked at Fang Huai resentfully, "So you haven't been listening to me. Isn't my tragic story eye-catching enough?"

Fang Huai turned his head away from him, feeling uneasy, and said awkwardly, "Then I'll be more accommodating to you in the future."

Kong Lingyu immediately became alert: "How?"

This guy must have been a snake in his previous life, so good at climbing up the pole! Fang Huai glanced at Kong Lingyu, he hadn't thought it through.

"It's all because of Ling Yu." The dean's voice came from afar. She smiled and said, "Those bosses are all here for him. They're trying to get close to me and ask me to say good things about you."

Fang Huai understood that Kong Lingyu is now the boss of a game company. Those people wanted to cooperate with Kong Lingyu, but they had no channels. They found out that Kong Lingyu was close to Huaihua Welfare Home, so they wanted to get in touch with Kong Lingyu through the welfare home.

"Please stop making fun of me." Kong Lingyu said helplessly.

The director also mentioned a strange "boss" who was not as anxious as others to ask for cooperation information or Kong Lingyu's contact information. He only asked Kong Lingyu when he was adopted, inquired about Kong Lingyu's life experience, and whether he had any close friends in the welfare home.

She recalled: "He was a thin middle-aged man, and he had a limp in his left leg."

After hearing the message from that person, Kong Lingyu's eyes darkened, but he didn't say much to the two of them. He just told the dean: "If they come to donate in the future, just accept it. Don't waste it."

"As for that lame man, ignore him."

His cold attitude made it difficult for Fang Huai and the dean to adapt. The dean tried to smooth things over by saying, "I know. After all, I've lived for so many years. I understand the truth."

Fang Huai stood aside and looked at Kong Lingyu's cold expression. He was not surprised at all. The real Kong Lingyu was indeed like this.

Kong Lingyu's smile never reaches his eyes, which only contain endless indifference, perhaps he himself does not even realize it.

"What are you looking at?" Kong Lingyu asked.

Fang Huai took a step back and looked into Kong Lingyu's eyes again, "Nothing."

Kong Lingyu's brows were furrowed tightly, but after a moment they relaxed, and he said thoughtfully, "Maimai, I've got it."

Fang Huai looked up at him, puzzled, "What did you think of?"

"You just said let me." Kong Lingyu raised an eyebrow: "Then you can't hide from me or alienate me in the future."

Feeling that wasn't enough, he added: "No matter who says something bad about me, you can't hide from me."

It seems this guy still remembers what happened a few days ago. He really holds a grudge, Fang Huai thought gloomily, and agreed: "Yeah."

"Why would I hide from you? I haven't done anything wrong."

Kong Lingyu stared at Fang Huai's fair neck with amusement. The coldness in his eyes melted away, turning into puddles of soft water. He continued, "Yeah, Maimai hasn't done anything wrong, so how could he hide from me?"

"Then it's a deal, you can't hide from me from now on." No matter what I do, you can't hide from me.

After saying goodbye to the people in the welfare home, Fang Huai took Kong Lingyu home.

Why do we say “with”?

Because this guy said with confidence that he didn't know the way.

Along the way, the unknown tune hummed by Kong Lingyu kept repeating in Fang Huai's ears. He still leaned slightly to the side to listen to this inexplicably beautiful tune.

In front of him, Kong Lingyu rarely seemed serious. Fang Huai looked helplessly at the man opposite him while talking on the phone. He was almost losing his temper.

The point is, this guy was considerate enough to ask, "What's wrong?"

Fang Huai pursed his lips, his cold eyes filled with helplessness. The person on the other end of the phone also guessed Fang Huai's situation and asked in an unhappy tone, "Hasn't his apartment been cleaned up yet?"

The volume on his phone was at a moderate level, but Kong Lingyu listened to everything Li Xuan said. A sarcastic smile appeared on his lips as he said coldly, "It seems that Maimai's friends have a lot of complaints about me."

Fang Huai felt the sofa next to him sink. The next second, Kong Lingyu asked him, "Are you urging me to leave too?"

"Me?" Fang Huai's expression was stiff. Caught between the two of them, he felt stuck. He looked at Li Xuan, then at Kong Lingyu, and carefully considered his words: "No."

He turned to Li Xuan and said, "The maintenance worker accidentally blew up a water pipe a few days ago. We'll need another two days."

Kong Lingyu leaned against the sofa, clenched his fist to his lips, staring straight at Fang Huai, very deliberately entering the camera. Li Xuan politely asked: "Hey - Xiao Huai's friend, can I have a private chat with Fang Huai for a while?"

Fang Huai looked back at Kong Lingyu, who shrugged indifferently, spread his hands and said in Fang Huai's direction, "Do you need me to step aside?"

Fang Huai was in a dilemma and felt his head was about to explode. He sat up straight and avoided her gaze. "It just so happens that the salt in the kitchen is used up. Could you please go downstairs and buy a bag?"

The corners of Kong Lingyu's mouth twitched, and an ambiguous emotion flashed in his eyes. Just when Fang Huai thought he was going to refuse, Kong Lingyu stood up and walked out the door. The sound of the door closing was not loud, but it still revealed a sense of resentment.

He stood at the door, looked up, and slowly exhaled the anger in his chest. His expression could not be seen clearly.

He flipped open his phone, the pale, aggressive face illuminated by the whitish light, making it appear menacing and fierce. Densely packed with information filled the screen, Kong Lingyu's eyes quickly scanned it, a flicker of resentment in their eyes.

Kong Lingyu slowly exhaled, took out a box of mints from his pocket, threw a handful into his mouth, and his white teeth chewed the hard candies with a crackling sound. The refreshing coolness calmed him down.

"Too anxious."

Kong Lingyu murmured, "It shouldn't be like this. He won't like it."
