Emotional Conflict

Emotional Conflict

Fang Huai turned his back to the closed door and recovered from the lingering shock of the noise. Li Xuan frowned slightly, showing a hint of displeasure. Fang Huai shook his head to indicate that everything was fine.

Kong Lingyu and Li Xuan clearly had no contact, but there was a strong smell of gunpowder between them. Because of the last incident, Li Xuan never mentioned the topic of asking Fang Huai to stay away from Kong Lingyu, but he obviously had no good feelings towards Kong Lingyu and his attitude was cold.

Based on Kong Lingyu's previous way of thinking, Fang Huai speculated and concluded that he just disliked Li Xuan.

"Xiao Huai?"

Fang Huai sat cross-legged on the sofa, holding up his phone and looking intently at Li Xuan across from him. When he heard Li Xuan calling him, he subconsciously responded, "I'm here."

Li Xuan turned off the microphone in advance and turned the camera to face the dark night sky.

There was no sound, but clusters of fireworks exploded and dissipated, even more dazzling and colorful than in the previous video. Slender, radiant hands supported a delicate face, thick lashes casting a shadow under her eyes. The fireworks reflected a dazzling light in her gentle eyes, adding to the breathtaking feeling. This contradictory astonishment made Li Xuan's heart suffocate.

There was surprise and longing in Fang Huai's eyes, which quickly turned into loss. He quickly regained control of his emotions and concentrated on appreciating the fireworks.

After the fireworks completely dissipated, Li Xuan turned the camera towards himself and turned on the microphone. "We didn't get the chance last time, this time we'll watch it together."

Li Xuan's voice was deep and magnetic, trying to draw Fang Huai's attention to himself. He tilted his head, tapped the screen, and said lovingly, "Come back to your senses."

Li Xuan's mother is German. His chiseled face perfectly inherited his mother's advantages. His three-dimensional facial contours are integrated with his father's affectionate eyebrows and eyes. He is a mature, steady and handsome mixed-race man, like a deeply affectionate and compassionate king.

At this moment, the "King" was leaning over and looking at his lover. "The fireworks here are beautiful. I have recorded countless moments, but I have never had the chance to share them with you. I am very sorry. So I want you to enjoy these fireworks together. It is not too late."

"Fang Huai, do you have anything to tell me?"

Fang Huai was visibly stunned, looking at the camera with confusion. Li Xuan patiently coaxed him, "During the time you were away from me, you didn't learn to take care of yourself."

His eyes fell on Fang Huai, and he said with a hint of disapproval: "You wouldn't sit in the living room in your pajamas before, especially when there are guests at home. Fang Huai, your current condition is not good." He emphasized the word "guest".

Fang Huai followed his gaze, looked at her pajamas, and lowered her head awkwardly.

Li Xuan was right. He certainly wouldn't be sitting in the living room talking on the phone with Li Xuan like this before going home. Li Xuan was considerate and meticulous. He would provide outfit suggestions based on Fang Huai's schedule and arrange their rest time and date time in an orderly manner.

Under his influence, Fang Huai also always cares about his image, but this time——

"Someone has affected you," Li Xuan said in a gentle voice. He took in Fang Huai's awkwardness and said softly, "It's okay."

"This is just a minor change. It will disappear soon, and everything will return to normal. But Fang Huai, the one who caused the change, is not from the same world as us, at least not now."

Li Xuan cruelly dissected the reality. He didn't like Kong Lingyu, a rude guy.

He had investigated Kong Lingyu and knew his true face. This vicious dog who would do anything to climb up the ladder was not suitable to associate with Fang Huai. He did not want Fang Huai, who was as clean as a piece of paper, to be contaminated.

Fang Huaicai had been with Kong Lingyu for some time and had become disobedient. This feeling of being out of his control made him unhappy. He wanted to get everything back on track and bring Fang Huai back to his original position.

Fang Huai raised his head stiffly and looked at Li Xuan on the other end of the phone, "Li Xuan, I..."

Li Xuan placed his index finger on his lips, signaling Fang Huai not to speak. He called out the name that bothered him: "Maimai."

The tone brooks no refusal: “You know what I’m talking about.”

"I know." Fang Huai uttered these two words with difficulty. He felt embarrassed and stood up stiffly and returned to his room. He changed out of his pajamas and changed into decent home clothes. He had bought this set of clothes with Li Xuan before the New Year.

Seeing Fang Huai change out of his pajamas, Li Xuan's expression relaxed a little. He said, "It suits you very well."

Li Xuan said gently, "You used to love fireworks the most. I've recorded a lot of them. When we get back, I'll watch them with you."

After returning, they were still the same as before. They could spend a lot of time together, and he would not let that uninvited guest leave any traces during this long time. The only person who could leave a trace in Fang Huai's world was him - Li Xuan.

Li Xuan had watched Fang Huai grow up, and he knew him too well. If someone gave Fang Huai a little sweetness, he would do his best to be kind to them. He remembered the good things, but not the hurt they caused him.

Fang Huai pulled the corner of his mouth and smiled: "Okay."

At that moment, fireworks exploded in the sky over Li Xuan's phone, their deafening blast echoing through the room. Fang Huai quickly covered his head, suppressing the urge to vomit. His face paled, his hands trembling uncontrollably. Li Xuan immediately turned off the microphone and tried to comfort Fang Huai.

The phone slipped and fell on his legs. Fang Huai stared at the flashing light on the screen, which was not as loud as that year.

When he was young, Fang Huai would always stare at the fireworks in the sky, no matter how cold the weather was.

But after that incident, Fang Huai began to fear the sound of fireworks. That year was the coldest year since Fang Huai came to the Fang family. He lay in the dark bed, enduring the burning pain on his back and swallowing his groans. That year, he was humbled and thankful: the city banned the use of fireworks.

This hobby disappeared along with the inflamed wound on his back, leaving behind an ugly scar.

After a long while, Fang Huai raised his head, his fair and plump forehead covered with cold sweat. He weakly picked up his mobile phone, poured a glass of cold water and drank it to barely suppress the churning in his stomach.

Li Xuan looked at Fang Huai with pity across the screen, regretting his own carelessness. "Sorry."

Fang Huai's voice was hoarse, "Li Xuan, I'm fine."

Fang Huai returned to the room holding his stomach. The two looked at each other in silence. Fang Huai opened his pale lips and was about to say something when he was interrupted by a hurried knock on the door.

Li Xuan was feeling irritated at the moment. He looked at Fang Huai with a complicated expression, "I think it's your friend. Can we discuss any issues when we're together?"

The words were swallowed, and he didn't know when he would have the courage to bring them up again. Fang Huai pressed his aching stomach and agreed in a low voice, "Okay."

Li Xuan had seen him in countless miserable states, and he was grateful to Li Xuan. Whenever he was in trouble, Li Xuan was always the first to rush over and pick him up.

It seemed like he could never be tough in front of Li Xuan. During this period, he vaguely sensed the problems between them and wanted to find a chance to have a good chat with Li Xuan, but he was interrupted every time.

This time too, the timing was wrong, the scene was wrong, everything was wrong.

Li Xuan hesitated to speak, and finally hung up the phone. "Good night, go to bed early."

"good evening."

Kong Lingyu was standing outside the door, his tall figure blocking the light in the corridor and casting a huge shadow on the door panel. His cold facial features were submerged in the shadow, and only the scarlet spot on his fingertips could be seen.

He held the salt in one hand and lit a cigarette with the other, then stood quietly outside the door, waiting for the cigarette to burn out without saying a word.

Only now did he realize that Fang Huai liked fireworks. That guy knew Fang Huai better than he did. A fleeting display of fireworks could coax someone into submission. When Kong Lingyu thought of this, a mocking arc appeared at the corner of his lips. What an arrogant guy.

He leaned against the door frame and thought until he felt a burning pain in his fingertips. He came to his senses and raised his hand to knock on the door.

After putting out the cigarette, he did not forget to fan his clothes to cover his ears and steal the bell.

Hearing the sound of slippers rubbing against the floor, he quickly threw away the cigarette butt in his hand, took out the mints from his pocket, poured out a handful and threw them into his mouth. His white teeth bit through the hard candy coating, and a chilling feeling rushed straight to his brain.

The door was opened, and Fang Huai, wearing a coat, looked at him tiredly.

The lingering smell of cigarettes and cool mint candy outside the door hit Fang Huai in the face. He took a step back, frowned, and looked up.

Kong Lingyu was startled by his gaze, and met Fang Huai's clear eyes, feeling somewhat bewildered. The candy in his mouth melted, the sweetness blending with the coolness as it slid down his throat. His throat was still dry, trying to hide something.

After thinking for a long time, he stammered, "Maimai, I don't smoke."

"Don't you have your keys?"

They both spoke at the same time. Kong Lingyu ignored the key in his pocket and swallowed the candy. "I forgot."

"Thank you, Mai Mai, for picking me up."

Fang Huai glanced at him, stepped aside to let him in, and said, "You're welcome."

"Have you changed your clothes?"

Kong Lingyu walked in, put the salt into the kitchen, and saw Fang Huai changed into home clothes and asked.

Fang Huai pulled his coat closer unnaturally, and then heard Kong Lingyu say, "It's so late, do you still want to go out?"

"No." Fang Huai poured himself a cup of hot water, which made a crisp sound when placed on the coffee table. He said seriously, "Because it's not suitable."

Kong Lingyu is a guest, even if he is a friend, it would not be appropriate.

The man stood in front of the kitchen door, waiting leisurely for Fang Huai's next words, but after a long time, Fang Huai did not speak.

"Are you thinking about him?" Kong Lingyu saw through Fang Huai's thoughts and said firmly, "Is it related to him?"

Fang Huai turned his head to look at Kong Lingyu and retorted: "It has nothing to do with him."
