Chapter 11: Start to Hook

In the police station, twelve large characters are written on the snow-white wall: "Any case must be accepted, any accepted case must be verified, and any filed case must be investigated." Next to the large characters are the work flow for accepting and filing cases, the rights and obligations of the reporter, and the telephone number for complaints and reports.

Xiao Xingyu and Jin Xueyang sat side by side opposite two policemen, a man and a woman.

The female police officer was in her thirties and was in charge of questioning, while the male police officer was a newly recruited trainee police officer who was only responsible for taking notes.

"Is that person a fan of secret color porcelain?" Xiao Xingyu leaned back in his chair with his long legs spread out, looking at the policewoman opposite him with dissatisfaction.

The policewoman confirmed this statement: "According to the suspect's confession, he obtained his identity by bidding on other porcelain pieces to attend the auction. His main purpose was to witness the secret color porcelain set a new record for ancient porcelain today. Through relevant evidence collection and interviews, we have confirmed that the suspect is indeed a fan of secret color porcelain and is very interested in the auction of the lotus brush washer."

Although the policewoman has a high level of professionalism, she probably saw today's trending searches and couldn't help but stare at the internet celebrity.

But unfortunately, this internet celebrity is a species that has become a hot search topic because of his good looks. It is easy to get distracted if you look at him too much, and when your eyes meet his, your heart will be even more shaken. Therefore, the policewoman had to concentrate extra attention.

Xiao Xingyu grasped the key point: "Are you saying that this suspect is also today's buyer?"

"It has been verified, yes."

"He's capable," Xiao Xingyu said, half-smiling, "He's quite generous."

"The suspect attended the auction with a purpose, but your appearance, Mr. Xiao, disrupted his expectations. So, in anger, he attacked you with the pen he was carrying."

"Pen?" Xiao Xingyu frowned.

The policewoman said: "Yes, don't underestimate a tool like a pen. It can cause serious injury or even death if it hits a vital part."

Xiao Xingyu stared at the policewoman in silence for a moment, until her face flushed and she lowered her head. He suddenly asked, "You just said you wanted to understand it from his perspective. Why should I understand the perpetrator's mindset?"

The policewoman choked, feeling her intelligence being suppressed. She glanced at the trainee police officer and said urgently, "I'm just stating the case. Please don't interpret it in a divergent way."

"Okay," Xiao Xingyu smiled, "Even porcelain has its share of die-hard fans. This is a valid reason!"

This statement was met with considerable skepticism, and the policewoman was unable to react. The trainee officer, full of rage, couldn't help but blurt out, "The evidence shows that this is the truth. This is the truth. How could we possibly fool you?"

Xiao Xingyu: "That's not what I said."

Trainee Police Officer: “You!…”

The atmosphere is tense.

"Well, this isn't surprising," Jin Xueyang interjected like a peacemaker. "Nowadays, everyone, whether living or dead, has fans. Those with a bit of IQ are considered brainless fans. Celebrities, celebrities, gaming brands, and trendy brands are all out there; even Pluto, the planet that kicked out the nine planets, has a ton of fans! There are so many people who have nothing better to do these days. When I was on the entertainment section, even two rivals who had nothing in common and were even fighting over resources could have CP fans!"

Xiao Xingyu didn't quite believe it, but he didn't want to get hung up on it. He changed the subject and asked the two policemen, "How are you going to deal with the criminals?"

His voice was powerful and unavoidable, a tone that could only be cultivated through long-term leadership.

The policewoman sat up straight. "That's exactly what we wanted to tell you. According to our investigation, this suspect has a history of mental illness. His family said he hasn't had an attack in years. This time, it might be a triggered attack. Next, we'll send him to a mental hospital for examination and treatment."

"Is that all?" Xiao Xingyu stood up suddenly, with a "duang" sound, and with both hands on the table, he questioned the policewoman from below, "The little girl is still lying in the hospital. If you send the criminals to a mental hospital, who will she go to for revenge?!"

The policewoman was caught off guard and stunned by the shouting. The trainee police officer stood up and said, "Please pay attention to your attitude!"

"What attitude?" Xiao Xingyu's voice was even louder than his: "Tell me what attitude I should have!"

The victim looked like he was about to cause trouble, and the filter created by Xiao Xingyu's stunning beauty was on the verge of being shattered in front of the police.

"Teacher Xiao, Teacher Xiao," Jin Xueyang quickly stood up to calm the situation. "Don't get angry. Let's talk to the police." He finally managed to get Xiao Xingyu to sit down. He turned around and asked the female officer in confusion, "Shouldn't they detain him for at least seven days before sending him to the mental hospital?"

The female police officer came to her senses and gestured for the trainee officer to sit down. Her attitude had been professionally corrected: "Mental illness patients are not detained. Besides, Mr. Xiao broke two ribs and he is still receiving treatment."

"He got a good deal!" Xiao Xingyu said.

The policewoman steadied her tone, "I understand your feelings, but our police have a system for handling cases. Regarding the victim's subsequent compensation and medical expenses, we will assist you in interviewing his family."

The two policemen were ready to dismiss Xiao Xingyu, but he just leaned back in his chair and didn't move. The next time they spoke, they only heard him say, "What's the procedure for applying for citizen recognition for heroic acts?"

The air was still for a moment.

Jin Xueyang looked at Xiao Xingyu, then at the police, and felt his ears numb.

He tried to make peace with both sides and asked, "Miss Zhang's heroic act of saving people should be considered a courageous act, right?"

The policewoman confirmed, "Of course it's a brave act! It's just that our annual selection for brave citizens isn't until the end of the year, and the number of spots is limited, so the competition is fierce. Normally, we judge based on the severity of the case..."

"It's my fault that I wasn't stabbed to death." Xiao Xingyu said coldly.

The policewoman coughed, sweat visible on her forehead. "That's not right. It's not like there's no chance. We'll definitely consider it comprehensively by the end of the year."
