Chapter 138 Monument (Important)

It was as if he knew why she was crying, so he tried to comfort and enlighten her.

Indeed, Zhang Moyan was heartbroken to the point of crying. What hurt her was that the coloring mechanism of celadon glaze porcelain was still a world problem. Therefore, although the predecessors on these steles had occasionally fired celadon glaze porcelain, as far as exploring the formula of porcelain glaze was concerned, none of them were spared and all ended up in failure.

He spent his whole life searching but to no avail, his hope burned brightly but ultimately died out. When he thought of this, Zhang Moyan felt so heartbroken that his chest hurt when he breathed.

The sages named on the stele are just a few of the rare ones, and there are many more craftsmen who have been lost in time and are not mentioned.

She didn't know which type of people was more miserable, those who tried to fire celadon porcelain but ultimately failed, or those who never fired a piece of celadon porcelain in their entire life?

"Why don't you study celadon glaze anymore?" Zhang Moyan's eyes turned red with tears as she asked Xiao Xingyu, "I've noticed that almost everyone in your family works in the porcelain industry. Why are you doing something else when you're so talented?"

Xiao Xingyu was stunned for a moment. The little aunt thought the question was quite explosive, so she frowned and waited attentively for the answer.

Zhang Moyan felt very sorry for asking the question that everyone asked Xiao Xingyu at the dinner table that day, but looking at the monument in front of her, she really couldn't help but ask him this question.

The picture was still for a while.

A moment later,

"I'm afraid it's too outstanding." Xiao Xingyu said.

Hearing this response, Zhang Moyan was really a little angry, but she held it in and said in a good temper, "Zhou Xia said that because of your high talent and strong ability, you attracted all the hopes and expectations of the family, causing the other younger generations to lose interest in reviving Tianqing glaze. So, you deliberately stopped yourself so that they could refocus on this matter. Once everyone is united, you will return to continue researching Tianqing porcelain, right?"

Zhang Moyan's eyes were eager, almost writing "I want a positive answer", but Xiao Xingyu frowned, his face full of question marks: "Zhou Xia is talking nonsense?"

------Digression------

I would like to share with you my original intention of writing this novel.

The last book was finished, and I had no intention of starting a new one so soon.

Later, he was assigned by the unit to coordinate the training of craftsmen.

I was exposed to the spirit of craftsmanship, and its spiritual core includes such as striving for excellence, facing challenges head-on, disregarding gains and losses, fulfilling one's duties, and silently dedicating oneself... It makes me feel so noble and great!

I wanted to write a novel that could embody this spirit.

Why can’t sweet stories have such a noble core?

Why must topics with lofty values be written as glorious and righteous without sweet love stories?

Why can’t the male protagonist of a novel be a craftsman?

Why can’t craftsmen be beautiful and cool?

Wouldn’t it be great if girls could watch a sweet romance while also receiving an education in craftsmanship?

Actually, no one has asked me the above questions, I just asked and answered them myself, haha.

But that doesn’t stop me from thinking it’s a good challenge!

I like to do challenging things when writing.

This is why I had to write about the male protagonist taking care of a baby in my last book, and the baby is not the female protagonist's.

Because it’s challenging! Writing is difficult!

My thinking is: What's the point of writing something in the normal way, and what sense of accomplishment will I get from writing it?

It is a skill to make people like something that everyone thinks is definitely not good.

Then,

I started writing this book excitedly.

As for why I wrote about celadon,

Because when I wanted to write this, I happened to see a documentary about the secret formula of Song Dynasty celadon glaze, which has not been solved to this day.

So it’s all fate!

I hope I can finally write what I want.

Don’t pretend to fail!
