Chapter 139: Always Waiting for That Person

"Isn't that the reason?"

Xiao Xingyu lowered his eyelids, politely declining the nice guy card: "I don't have a Saint Father complex. Next time I'll have to talk to her properly. If this kind of imaginary plot is spread everywhere, people will think that even if I'm not a Saint Father, it will be considered a conspiracy theory!"

Zhang Moyan choked and said, "Don't say that about Zhou Xia. Maybe I didn't convey it well. She didn't mean that at all."

Xiao Xingyu glanced at her sideways and said nothing.

"Then," Zhang Moyan asked tentatively, "what's the reason for you quitting the porcelain industry?"

Xiao Xingyu was silent for a moment, then lifted the little aunt up with one hand and said, "Haven't you heard the truth? To casually reveal your innermost thoughts to others is to show them your weaknesses. This weakness will make people subconsciously look down on you, and may even become a tool for others to exploit you in the future."

Zhang Moyan was stunned by his unexpected philosophy of life.

What he meant was that Xiao Xingyu didn't want to tell her the reason why he quit.

Zhang Moyan did not force it. She knew herself well. Even people were guessing that Zhou Xia was his relative. How could he be so open and honest to her, someone he had only known for a few days? What's more, she was a reporter who relied on traffic to compete for her KPI.

"Xingyu, will Guotao's name be written there in the future?" The little aunt asked, pointing to the place behind the last name on the stone tablet.

Zhang Moyan nearly bit her tongue off. What a child's unbridled words! How could they discuss this when Xiao Guotao was still alive and well?!

But looking at Xiao Xingyu's expression, it seemed that he didn't have the same concerns as her.

The three people's eyes were all fixed on that place. The temperature in the air seemed to drop by several degrees, and it felt cool when they inhaled it into their chests.

"It doesn't necessarily have to be here," Xiao Xingyu raised his hand and pointed to the empty space above the sixteen names, "Maybe it's there."

Both girls were surprised.

The area Xiao Xingyu pointed out was decorated with some twined branches. Zhang Moyan initially thought it was just a decoration, but she didn't expect it could also be engraved with words. However, once she accepted this setting, she felt that there seemed to be something missing in that place.

Imagine adding a name there, the entire stele will form a pattern of hundreds of birds paying homage to the phoenix and hundreds responding to one call.

"Why? Why can Guo Tao choose from both sides, but they can only write here?" the little aunt asked curiously, drawing a circle around the sixteen names in the air with her little hand.

The little aunt asked the question that Zhang Moyan wanted to ask.

"Because," Xiao Xingyu's smile looked a bit complicated, "he might be able to find the formula for the azure glaze, and then his name can be written in that place on it."

That person was slightly higher than Xiao Xingyu. He raised his head slightly, and the light reflected from the stone tablet enveloped his elegant profile like smoke.

Zhang Moyan was shocked when she heard this: "You mean, that place is reserved for the person who will finally uncover the secrets of the celadon porcelain craftsmanship?"

"Yes," Xiao Xingyu sighed slightly, "That position has been waiting for that person."

Zhang Moyan opened her mouth, wanting to say something but couldn't.

I have been waiting for that person, how long has it been hanging in the balance?

She couldn't imagine that number.

"Only when there are names there, can all the names on this monument usher in a glorious moment." Xiao Xingyu said slowly and melancholy.

Zhang Moyan turned around in surprise: "You...you think these names are not honorable?"

Xiao Xingyu pursed his lips. "It's a mixture of emotions, isn't it? But ultimately, the sadness outweighs the joy. When this monument was erected, it was indeed intended as an honor to inspire future generations. It's not topped with a house, but a pavilion. Any villager can come and admire it."

"Then how did it become a house?"

"It is said that only two hundred years later, our ancestors built a house to cover it up."

Zhang Moyan had a vague feeling: "Because it's been so long, and my great work still hasn't been accomplished, it's a bit embarrassing."

"That's about right," Xiao Xingyu sighed. "The longer time passes, the more incompetent it becomes. The ancestors who built this house probably felt that the sages inscribed on the stele didn't want many people to see them!"

It sounds a bit heartless, but if you think about it, it's probably true. The more names and the longer the time span on this monument, the more difficult it is. So, how can it possibly inspire future generations?

Maybe some unworthy descendants will point at them and say, "Look, so many talented people before us couldn't do it, so why can we? This is simply an impossible task, don't waste your time."

It is completely understandable why the Xiao family locked up this stele with their house.

This place already makes people feel heavy and depressed, and hearing these things now makes people feel even more breathless.

Xiao Xingyu also noticed this, so he cheered himself up and said, "Only when we look back on the day of victory will these names have meaning. Then people will see that it was because of their perseverance, the mission passed down from generation to generation, and the cumulative effect of each generation that we finally achieved the final victory."

"Yes!" Zhang Moyan nodded affirmatively and said encouragingly, "Regardless of whether the formula for the azure glaze has been researched or not, the ancestors on these tablets have at least left hope for future generations. When future generations see the azure glaze porcelain they fired, they will at least believe that it is possible to reproduce the azure glaze porcelain!"

Zhang Moyan originally wanted to boost her fighting spirit, but unexpectedly Xiao Xingyu's eyebrows fell when she spoke.

"What's wrong?" Zhang Moyan asked in confusion.

Xiao Xingyu said calmly, "The celadon porcelain they fired won't be left behind."
