Chapter 157: Reporter's Identity Exposed

Zhang Moyan invited Zhou Xia into the house. As soon as Zhou Xia entered the room, she saw her packed luggage, a black work bag. She brought things with her on the first day she arrived, and a rather large shopping bag filled with clothes.

"Mo Yan, are you... leaving?" Zhou Xia leaned closer to her, tilting his head to look at her face carefully. "What happened just now? Why is Brother Xingyu so angry?"

Zhang Moyan looked at the luggage, was silent for a moment, and said vaguely: "I made a mistake at work and made Teacher Xiao angry."

"So he drove you away?" Zhou Xia stared at her with her beautifully curled eyelashes. "Why are you crying?"

Zhang Moyan turned away and rubbed his eyes: "No, he didn't chase me away, I was too embarrassed to stay."

After saying this, it seemed very unreasonable. Xiao Xingyu didn't kick her out, but she left on her own, just like an employee who did something wrong and was fired by her boss.

So Zhou Xia also showed a confused expression, but Zhang Moyan didn't care what others thought now.

I just want to leave quickly.

I carried the black work bag to the table, unzipped it, and put the headphones and charger on the bedside table into it.

Zhou Xia didn't dwell on the bug too much. He leaned over and pulled out a square box from his Boston bag. "Mo Yan, the museum director asked me to bring this to you. I heard it's your work. He originally wanted Brother Xingyu to bring it to you, but Brother Xingyu hasn't been there these days, so he asked me to give it to you."

Zhang Moyan took the square box with both hands and opened the lid with a white jade buckle. The silk gift box contained the bent-waist bowl that she had made that day in the museum. It had already been fired, with a green and lustrous glaze, as smooth as jade, and there were also ink strokes by Xiao Xingyu on it.

"This is actually Teacher Xiao's work. I can't possibly create something this amazing," Zhang Moyan said truthfully, closing the box and setting it aside. The finished product was even more perfect than she'd imagined, but now she felt like she wasn't worthy enough to collect it.

"You... don't want it?" Zhou Xia stared at the abandoned box for a long time, a little absent-minded. She had already seen the things in it yesterday.

Zhang Moyan didn't say anything. She felt annoyed when she saw the headphones and charging cables mixed together in her bag. As if she had obsessive-compulsive disorder, she took them out again.

Bang!

Along with the charging cable, something was hooked out and fell to the ground.

When Zhang Moyan saw the dark blue plastic cover, her heart skipped a beat. Just as she was about to bend down to pick it up, Zhou Xia had already picked it up for her.

"Thank you!" Zhang Moyan stretched out her hand hastily, and Zhou Xia handed her something thin with a smile. Just when it was about to touch her hand, Zhou Xia took a look at the thing in her hand, then her face froze and she took it back.

"Press ID?" Zhou Xia lowered her head and frowned, looking carefully at the document in her hand, reading the few words and a photo on it, then slowly raised her head.

The two of them were silent for about a minute.

"Zhou Xia, listen to me." Zhang Moyan's voice was a little weak, and she reached out to take the thing back, but Zhou Xia immediately took a step back vigilantly, holding the press card tightly in his hand.

She leaned against the wall, her delicate face stern. "Aren't you Brother Xingyu's bodyguard? Are you pretending to be him?! What's your purpose in sneaking into the Xiao family?"

Zhang Moyan's heart skipped a beat, and she immediately said, "I'm not sneaking in. Teacher Xiao knows I'm a reporter! Bodyguards... It's hard to explain, but what I said is true. Teacher Xiao does know who I am. I'm a reporter who wants to interview him. I have no other purpose, and I'm not hiding anything from him." She lowered her voice, her eyes pleading, "Please don't tell anyone, okay?"

Zhou Xia was in disbelief. Zhang Moyan picked up the phone on the table with a trembling hand: "Trust me, I'll call Teacher Xiao right now and have him verify this with you. Please wait a moment!"

He clicked on Xiao Xingyu's WeChat avatar and dialed the number. The music played for more than ten seconds before being cut off with a beep. A line of words popped up on the dark screen: "The other party rejected your voice call request." Zhang Moyan's heart sank. He dialed again, but this time the call was cut off within three seconds.

Xiao Xingyu didn't answer her call.

Zhang Moyan was so anxious that sweat broke out on her forehead: "He didn't answer my call, Zhou Xia, you should call Teacher Xiao, he will definitely answer your call. Believe me, I didn't lie to you!"

After the last sentence was uttered, both of them were stunned. This sentence really had no credibility at all at the moment!

Zhou Xia was on guard. She fished out her phone from her bag and dialed the number while looking at Zhang Moyan. Zhang Moyan looked at her with a hint of gratitude, waiting with hope. However, within 10 seconds, Zhou Xia put down the phone. "He didn't answer my call either. Does anyone else know your identity?"

Zhang Moyan's eyes dropped: "...No."

Zhou Xia dialed again and hung up this time: "Brother Xingyu's phone is turned off."

Zhang Moyan was stunned and suddenly didn't know what to do.

Zhou Xia looked at her gravely, then lowered her gaze to examine the work bag she had opened. After a moment, she dialed her cell phone again, and this time the call was quickly connected.

"Hello, is this 110? I want to call the police. We've been scammed here. The address is..." Zhou Xia's voice was unusually calm and composed.

Zhang Moyan looked at Zhou Xia's red lips moving up and down in astonishment, her mind went blank for a moment, and it was not until she hung up the phone that she suddenly realized what she had done!

"Zhou Xia...what are you doing?" Zhang Moyan looked at Zhou Xia in confusion.

"Ms. Zhang, when I encounter something like this, I have no choice but to call the police." Zhou Xia raised her neck, and this action made her look a little arrogant, which was contrary to her usual friendliness.
