Chapter 196 The Dream Reappears
The next day, Geng Jun stayed in the staff apartment of Ruzhou People's Hospital in Ruzhou.
In a trance, I returned to the summer evening bathed in the sunset, with the breeze blowing slowly through the green shade and the sound of cicadas chirping.
In the small courtyard with pink walls and black tiles, a chubby little girl is lying on a low table, her fleshy little hands holding crayons and drawing on paper. The afterglow of the sunset shines on her black and soft hair, giving off a thin layer of golden light.
Two voices were heard from the room, mumbling something. The little girl put down her paintbrush and turned to look...
Zhang Moyan trembled her long eyelashes and slowly opened her eyes.
The snow-white ceiling, the rotating clock on the wall, the slightly fluttering blue curtains...all came into view one by one, and the ears slowly heard soft music.
"How was it? Did you enter that dream?" Geng Jun's gentle voice cut in seamlessly.
Zhang Moyan turned her head on the sofa and looked at Geng Jun, who was sitting in a chair beside her. Dean Geng was not wearing a white coat, but casual clothes, his legs crossed. His left hand was holding a pocket watch chain, and his right hand was holding a pen on the notebook on his knees. He looked exactly the same as she had seen him before she fell asleep.
After a brief moment of drowsiness, Zhang Moyan remembered where she was and what she had done. Recalling this moment, her eyes suddenly lit up, and she excitedly slapped the armrest of the sofa: "It's me! I see clearly! It's me!"
"What are you?" Geng Jun paused: "You entered that dream, right?"
"Yes," Zhang Moyan's slender back left the sofa and she sat up straight from a half-lying position. "It's amazing! I just entered that dream I often have!"
Zhang Moyan was as excited as if she had broken through the Goldbach conjecture, and her whole face was glowing.
Geng Jun smiled with relief, put away the pocket watch and placed it on the coffee table beside him: "What did you just say was it you?"
"Oh!" Zhang Moyan nodded vigorously, and her long black hair moved slightly twice like a cat crawling on her chest.
"That's the little girl I described to you, the one drawing in the yard. I saw her turn around!" Zhang Moyan's eyes sparkled, and she placed her right hand on her chest. "She's actually me! That's what I looked like when I was a kid. I've seen a lot of photos of me at that age at home.
I always thought it was someone else's little girl, but I never expected it to be me. It's incredible..." The mystery that had troubled Zhang Moyan for years was finally solved. She couldn't help but ponder it for a moment before asking Geng Jun, "Dean Geng, how could this be? I could actually see myself in my dream. I was like a bystander watching a movie."
"This is very common," Geng Jun made a reassuring gesture to her. "This involves the integration of dreams."
"Dreams originate from memory, and memory can be perceived from different perspectives. The first is your own first-person perspective memory, which refers to your personal experiences and what you witnessed. Because this material is based on what you heard and saw, it is rich in detail, clear and vivid, and can best restore the real scene.
In contrast to first-person perspective memory, there's also observer perspective memory. As the name suggests, this type of memory often draws on the information provided by others. For example, we might not even remember some embarrassing childhood incidents ourselves, but through recounting by parents and friends, the time, place, and plot details are incredibly detailed. These details can be integrated with your first-person perspective memory to create a vivid, third-person perspective. In this way, you'll see yourself through the lens of an observer.
Zhang Moyan nodded, seeming to understand, and then asked thoughtfully, "You said... Is this the scene in my memory?"
"Isn't it?" Geng Jun looked at her with questioning eyes.
Zhang Moyan stared at it for a moment and shook her head. "I don't think I've ever seen this courtyard in my dream in real life... My house isn't like this, and neither are my grandparents' or my grandparents' houses. It seems... I don't remember anyone's house being like this either."
Geng Jun pondered, "Maybe it's a place you lived in when you were very young. Maybe you were too young to remember it, or maybe you didn't live there very long, so it left no impression. If you're confused, you can go back and ask your parents."
Zhang Moyan didn't respond. She was concentrating on something, not knowing what she was thinking about. Her black, silky hair fell down her tilted head like a waterfall.
"Besides seeing yourself, did you discover anything else?" Geng Jun asked.
Zhang Moyan thought for a moment and said, "I heard someone talking to that little me in the distance. I didn't catch what they said, but I turned around and ran over from the small table... Then," Zhang Moyan raised her eyelashes and said with great regret, "I woke up when I got here."
Geng Jun nodded in understanding and smiled easily. "It's okay. Today, we were able to hypnotize you into a dream state on our first attempt, and we were able to collect new information. The results are very satisfactory. At least it proves that this method is effective for you. As for the next analysis, we can arrange another time to try and explore it."
Zhang Moyan was delighted again after hearing this, and looked around the room: "Where's Xingyu?"
The one-bedroom apartment of more than 30 square meters could be scanned at a glance, and Xiao Xingyu was not seen.
Geng Jun closed the notebook and pointed towards the balcony with his clear jaw raised: "He is on the balcony, probably smoking."
"Well, I'll go see him. He must be bored after being for so long." Zhang Moyan lifted the thin blanket covering her body and got off the sofa.
Geng Jun stood up with her and said with a smile, "After meeting Miss Zhang, I really have to look at Xiao Xingyu in a different light."
