One o'clock in the morning.
Ruzhou People's Hospital.
In the intensive care unit No. 708 in the ward building, the two curtains were drawn tightly, and in the pitch-black darkness where one could not see one's hand in front of one's face, only the red indicator lights of a few monitoring instruments were flashing faintly.
Suddenly, a blue light flickered on the low cabinet beside the nurse's bed, and a cell phone vibrated on the countertop. The rhythmic vibrations resonated with the wooden planks, creating a distinct sound in the still night.
However, the owner of the phone on the accompanying bed was sleeping soundly and was not disturbed by the call at all. The phone continued to vibrate for more than a minute, and he was still immersed in a sweet dream.
He was not the only one who was not woken up by the ringing of the alarm. There was also another caregiver who was snoring loudly on the long sofa next to him, and an elderly man lying on the hospital bed with a ventilator.
After the ringing time reached the upper limit, the vibration stopped abruptly. However, one minute later, the blue screen lit up again and the phone vibrated again. This cycle repeated three times. It seemed that the caller had finally given up and did not call again.
Five minutes later, there was a slight "click" sound, and the door of the ward was opened a crack. A dark shadow sneaked in quickly like a ghost, and the door was then gently closed.
Avoiding the glass window on the door, the black shadow stood by the wall for a moment. After making sure that no one inside or outside the room noticed him, he took out a penlight from his trouser pocket and turned it on.
The beam of light hit the ground, illuminating the surrounding area, but the figure was still submerged in endless darkness.
Without further delay, the shadowy figure walked straight towards the bed, finally pausing there, staring at the elderly man lying face down on the bed like the approaching god of death. A moment later, the shadowy figure bit the penlight into its mouth, and its cold hand reached for the respirator covering the elderly man's face and lifted it.
Bang!
Just as he was about to bring something close to the old man's nose, a rough big hand grabbed his wrist. Intense panic surged from the shadow's eyes. He quickly retracted his hand, but it was not so easy to escape the grip on his wrist.
"You're finally here."
The old man, who had been unconscious just now, suddenly made a dull sound.
The shadow was caught off guard and knew he had been exposed. In a hurry, he simply covered the old man's mouth and nose. However, it was too late. The old man pressed the call button with his other hand, and the next second the whole room was suddenly bright.
Xiao Mumu was dressed in black and his face was pale, exposed in the light!
After a moment of hesitation, he struggled to break free from Xiao Guotao's shackles and ran towards the door in an attempt to escape, but it was too late. Before he reached the door, Geng Jun in a white robe had already pushed the door open hurriedly with security guards and nurses, blocking him head-on.
"Where else do you want to go?" Geng Jun asked with a cold gaze.
Xiao Mumu was stunned. Seeing such a quick reaction, he immediately knew that he had fallen into a trap of waiting for the rabbit to come out of the jar!
Xiao Mumu, who was unable to escape, turned around and ran to the window. The window had a safety device that could only be opened to a 30-degree angle, so he let go of the curtains and directly picked up a chair next to him and smashed it on the glass window with all his might.
Bang!
The glass immediately shattered into pieces, revealing a large hole. Xiao Mumu raised his foot to climb up, but four or five security guards had already rushed behind him, pulled him hard, and threw him to the ground!
"Let me go!" Xiao Mumu crawled on the ground, struggling desperately, his fair face twisted beyond recognition. Amidst the fierce pressure and resistance, a larger security guard simply sat on his back, while several others pinned his hands and feet.
"What is this?" A young security guard took out a bottle the size of oral liquid from Xiao Mumu's left hand.
"Don't open it!"
Geng Jun was shaking Xiao Huai awake by the bedside when he saw the young security guard's actions and immediately scolded him to stop. The young security guard was frightened and squatted on the ground, not daring to move.
Xiao Huai held his forehead and propped himself up. He was surprised to find the room bright and bustling with activity. "What are they doing?" He shook his heavy head vigorously and asked, "When did you come in? I didn't even notice... Mu Mu?!"
By this time, Xiao Mumu had been pulled up from the ground by several security guards. Xiao Huai saw that he was being forced to put his hands behind his back, and his handsome little wolf tail was loose and tilted behind his head like a small broom. He stood up in shock and asked, "What's going on? What happened?"
"You were drugged. If nothing goes wrong, it's him." Geng Jun answered calmly and briefly. He patted the stunned Xiao Huai on the shoulder twice and gestured to Xiao Weijiang, who was still sleeping soundly on the sofa. "Go wake up your father too. People who have taken sleeping pills can be woken up normally. Besides, Mr. Xiao has already woken up."
Xiao Huai's eyes lit up, and he turned around to see Xiao Guotao already standing up with the help of a nurse. He trotted over and said, "Grandpa Guotao, you're awake! That's great! When did you wake up?!"
Geng Junze walked up to the security guards and pointed his finger at the young security guard he had just stopped. "Let me see this bottle."
"Okay." The young security guard handed the small bottle to Geng Jun tremblingly.
It was a plastic spray bottle with a lid. Geng Jun took off the lid and held it in his left hand. He fanned the air with his right hand, then raised his eyebrows and looked at Xiao Mumu: "Hydrocarbons."
The next moment, he lowered his head and said to the security guard, "Call the police!"
"Okay!" The young security guard immediately picked up the walkie-talkie.
"What's wrong with hydrocarbons?" Xiao Huai stopped supporting Xiao Guotao's backrest.
Anyone with common sense would know what was going on in the current situation. Xiao Huai now wanted to know how serious this matter was.
