Chapter 268 It’s quite regrettable

After a solid and efficient meeting, the participants dispersed, each receiving their own assignments. Zhang Moyan stared at the filled page in her notebook, frowning in silence. It was unclear whether Jin Xueyang had planned to bring her along or had made the arrangements based on her arrival, but the tasks he assigned her actually permeated Chen Guanfu's entire journey back to China to search for his relatives.

The resistance in my heart was very strong, and I was even angry about using so much manpower and resources to provide services to that bad guy!

So she was even more confused about why she had come to this meeting. What was she trying to achieve? She hadn't even bothered to search online for the name "Chen Guanfu," yet now she had to participate in this entire project.

Zhang Moyan closed her notebook in frustration and stood up, planning to go back to the office to calm down first, organize her words, and find time to talk to Jin Xueyang about whether she could take on less responsibility, or better yet, quit directly.

As she walked out of the meeting room, her mind still pounding, she was stopped at the door by a voice calling out, "Xiao Zhang!" Editor-in-Chief Wu approached her with documents in his hands. "You haven't thanked me yet. Help us push the materials up!"

"You're welcome. It's just a small favor."

Editor Wu smiled and turned to the side, waving his hand. Two energetic young men came over immediately.

"Xiao Zhang, these are the new management trainees who joined our team last year. They all graduated from Communication University of China and are the ones our department focuses on training," Editor-in-Chief Wu introduced Zhang Moyan enthusiastically. "I'll let them practice on this project. You can give them more guidance when the time comes."

The two energetic young men immediately came up to Zhang Moyan and called her "Teacher" in a sweet voice.

Zhang Moyan remained noncommittal, thinking that if she didn't even want to participate in the project, how could she possibly be leading someone? She quickly declined, saying, "I'm also a newbie who only graduated three years ago. I don't dare to be a teacher!"

Upon hearing this, the two young men immediately changed their tone and called Zhang Moyan "sister", and said, "It's such an honor to have the opportunity to work with such a beautiful sister."

Zhang Moyan was at a loss, wondering why all the boys who had just graduated from school were going for the "little milk dog" look these days? What a perverse trend! If these two were graduate students, who knows who would be older!

Although they are both men, they are far inferior to Xiao Xingyu.

"Aren't these two kids smart?" Editor-in-Chief Wu was grinning from ear to ear, seemingly liking the little puppy. "You're Editor-in-Chief Li's favorite, so don't be too modest. You're about the same age, so communication and cooperation will definitely be smooth. Besides, working together as a man and a woman is easy..."

Editor-in-Chief Wu led them forward as he spoke, heading straight for the elevator.

Zhang Moyan was suddenly apprehensive and hesitated. As soon as Chief Editor Wu finished his lengthy pleasantries, she immediately said, "Sorry, Chief Editor Wu, I left my keys in the conference room. I have to go back and get them!"

Editor-in-Chief Wu's enthusiastic expression paused for a moment: "Oh, okay."

Zhang Moyan said goodbye quickly and slipped away.

I returned to the meeting room under the watchful eyes of Editor-in-Chief Wu and two young men, and happened to run into Jin Xueyang who was about to leave with a notebook in his hand.

"Why did you come back?"

"I think I forgot to take something." Zhang Moyan was too hasty to find another excuse. She walked to the place where she had just sat, bent down and looked up and down, and then came back angrily, "I don't think I have it. Maybe I remembered it wrong."

Jin Xueyang looked at her suspiciously: "With your memory, how could you forget something?"

Zhang Moyan shuddered when she heard this. It was such a great irony.

Did she have a good memory? If so, how could she have forgotten her biological mother? How could she have forgotten so much of her past? She remembered so many trivial things, but she had forgotten the most important things.

She didn't answer Jin Xueyang's question. Instead, she turned off the light switch on the wall, closed the door, and said, "Shall we take the stairs?"

Jin Xueyang glared at her and turned his back: "Nonsense!"

The two walked side by side in the empty stairwell. Jin Xueyang kept turning his head to look Zhang Moyan up and down. Finally, he said, "Why do you look so listless? Did Teacher Xiao make things too much last night?"

Zhang Moyan was stunned for a moment, surprised by Jin Xueyang's blunt statement: "Don't talk nonsense!"

Jin Xueyang snorted, "How can I say anything about what you did? Look at how exhausted you are. Can you hide it?"

Zhang Moyan lowered her head and took a few steps behind Jin Xueyang. After a moment of silence, she whispered, "Xueyang, Xiao Xingyu and I broke up."

Sooner or later, I can't hide this from Jin Xueyang, so I might as well tell him...

Besides, she didn't want to keep it all to herself, she was about to get sick!

It was clearly just a simple arrangement of a few words, but when spoken, they echoed back and forth in the space like a collision. Jin Xueyang, who was walking in front, paused, turned around, and stared at Zhang Moyan with open eyes for more than ten seconds.

"Is this true?"

Zhang Moyan walked down the steps between them: "Really."

She walked past Jin Xueyang and continued walking down.

"No way," Jin Xueyang hurriedly chased after him, "Didn't he just come back last Thursday, and you went on a business trip on Friday. When did you break up? Did he break up with you as soon as he came back?"

Zhang Moyan paused, it was obvious that Jin Xueyang also thought that Xiao Xingyu wanted to break up with her.

That's right. Last time, it was Liming who dumped her, so Jin Xueyang would naturally think that this time, Xiao Xingyu had also dumped her. Zhang Moyan smiled bitterly and didn't explain. Given how much Jin Xueyang servilely treated Xiao Xingyu, if he knew that it was her who broke up with him, he would definitely resent her to death and would ask her to get to the bottom of it.

"You two have only been dating for a short time and you've already broken up. What's the reason? It's too fast!" Jin Xueyang asked.

Zhang Moyan's expression was calm as she simply said, "I think these things are normal in a relationship."
