A light rain in the hot summer washes away the scorching heat of many days. The sky is gray and the raindrops are dripping.
Zhang Moyan stood in front of an antique gate with an umbrella. A row of thin water droplets dripped from the black tiles, and green bamboos peeked out from the blue brick courtyard wall. However, when she turned her eyes slightly, she saw that not far away was a landmark business district like an architectural art exhibition. The golden brick skyscraper of Shiyue Group stood out from the crowd. This teahouse was incredibly quiet in this precious land where every inch of land was valuable.
Zhang Moyan took a deep breath, stepped onto the stairs, and rang the doorknob of the dark door in front of him.
A response came from inside the door, and soon a graceful beauty wearing a white printed cheongsam and holding a paper umbrella opened the door. After asking Zhang Moyan a few questions, she politely welcomed her in.
Inside the gate was even more tranquil and beautiful, with rockery, flowers, and pavilions all in the style of Suzhou gardens. Led by a welcoming lady, Zhang Moyan walked along a cobblestone path, passed through a winding corridor, passed several uniquely shaped archways, and walked along a winding plank road before arriving at the door of an elegant room set on the water.
Zhang Moyan had previously declined Chen Guanfu's suggestion to visit or go to his house, but now she couldn't help but sigh that Chen Guanfu really knew how to find a place. This teahouse was not only in a prime location with excellent transportation, but also so secluded. This small pavilion on the water was truly a perfect place to discuss things that were not to be shared. Discussions here were truly kept secret from everyone, from heaven to earth, from you to me.
Chen Guanfu and Fujiwara Nanako were already waiting there, and were reviewing a couplet in the hall with a waitress in cheongsam. When they heard voices approaching, they both turned around.
"Xiao Qi, you're here! Is it convenient for you to come here?" Ms. Fujiwara walked towards Zhang Moyan enthusiastically, and the receptionist who came with her folded the umbrella for Zhang Moyan.
The word "Xiao Qi" made Zhang Moyan stunned. She subconsciously looked at Chen Guanfu, and Chen Guanfu was also looking at her.
Professor Chen's leg injury should have healed. He didn't have a cane with him today, which made him look even taller. Adding to his already extraordinary temperament, he even looked down on people with a sense of superiority.
Zhang Moyan suddenly felt tense. Now that their identities were clear, she didn't know how to deal with Chen Guanfu. In short, she didn't want to greet him and call him grandpa, so she turned around and replied to Fujiwara Nanako: "It's convenient. This place is not far from where I live."
"Three guests, please take a seat!" The graceful receptionist guided them to sit down at a round mahogany tea table. After a while, several beautiful waiters came in one after another and served tea, tea sets and exquisite snacks.
After everything was settled, the first greeter washed his hands and prepared to make tea. At this time, Fujiwara Nanako stood up and said politely, "Leave this to me, we will do it ourselves. You guys take a rest first!"
The receptionist who worked here probably encountered this kind of tactful dismissal often. She smiled and nodded with great understanding, and handed Ms. Fujiwara a gourd-shaped button device: "Thank you, ma'am. If you need any service, please feel free to call us. We will leave first." After that, she waved her slender hand, and all the service staff present withdrew. She also said her goodbye, stepped out of the threshold, and closed the door for them in a well-trained manner.
As the beauties left, the three of them were left in an unusually quiet room. Zhang Moyan felt Chen Guanfu's gaze fixed on her, and she felt like she was being pricked.
"Come, the tea I ordered is Jin Jun Mei. I wonder if Xiao Qi would like some?" Fujiwara Nanako stood up and took out a small white porcelain teapot.
Xiao Qi replaced Zhang Moyan here today, but it seems nothing wrong.
"Oh, I'm fine with anything." Zhang Moyan thought, "I didn't come here just to drink tea."
"Then I'll show you how to do it," Ms. Fujiwara said, smiling as she scooped a few coins of tea leaves from a bamboo tea spoon. She warmed up the atmosphere as she did so. "I particularly like the Chinese tea ceremony. The core of the Chinese tea ceremony is harmony. The pursuit of harmony, respect, and beauty is a very wise attitude and approach to doing things."
Zhang Moyan felt that there was something else behind Fujiwara Nanako's words.
"Jin Jun Mei is my husband's favorite tea. It has a unique floral and fruity aroma that is fresh, elegant, delicate and fragrant. One sip of it makes you feel as if you are in a secluded valley and forest.
Fujiwara Nanako looked at Chen Guanfu seeking interaction, and Chen Guanfu nodded slightly in cooperation.
Chen Guanfu's favorite tea? Zhang Moyan suddenly felt a little reluctant to drink it.
Then, Ms. Fujiwara demonstrated to Zhang Moyan her skillful techniques for warming the teapot, washing the tea, brewing the tea, and serving the tea. This visually pleasing demonstration dispelled the awkward silence between them. When the tea-making process was complete, Ms. Fujiwara Nanako stood up and politely said to Chen Guanfu, "Sir, I will be leaving now. You two can chat for a while."
"No need," Chen Guanfu said his first words of the day, his voice as bright and gentle as before, "Just sit here!"
Ms. Fujiwara was slightly surprised.
Chen Guanfu added, "If you are mine, there is nothing I cannot let you know. If you are not mine, I am afraid you know more than what we are going to talk about right now. So what is there that I cannot let you know?"
A chill ran down her spine, and Ms. Fujiwara froze in her tracks, staring blankly at Chen Guanfu as he met her gaze. Although Zhang Moyan didn't understand why Chen Guanfu said that, she also got goosebumps all over her body.
"Oh... okay." Fujiwara Nanako sat down obediently, her nervousness almost visible to the naked eye.
"Xiao Qi, this is our kinship test report," Chen Guanfu handed a document from under the table to Zhang Moyan, "It contains the photos we took of you earlier."
There was no change in Zhang Moyan's cold face. She took the document, opened it to the last page, and saw the two lines of words that she had read countless times on her phone before. She felt mixed emotions and didn't know how to describe her current mood.
