Chapter 361: Weaving a Net

The glass door between the balcony and the living room was closed tightly. The autumn sun shone into the house, shining on the neatly arranged tables and chairs, and casting quiet shadows on the spotless ground.

The security door rang twice in the silence and was pushed open. A pair of black men's sneakers walked into the house.

He walked in the dark, with familiar steps, and inspected the door of each room, even the balcony. After confirming that there was no one else in the room, he went straight into the bedroom.

The upper layer of the storage cabinet against the wall was opened, and the books and medicines inside were clearly visible. There was nothing needed, so the cabinet door was closed again.

Then the lower layer of the locker was opened, and a white suitcase and several bags were arranged in an orderly manner. The visitor reached out and took out the white suitcase without any hesitation.

The man in black sneakers walked out of the bedroom. When he was a few steps away from the door, the door suddenly opened with a "click" and the man in black sneakers stopped abruptly.

Outside the door frame, Zhang Moyan was standing there with a backpack on her back!

"Xueyang, why are you here with me?" Zhang Moyan's voice was emotionless, and her eyes moved from the man opposite to his hands. "What are you doing with this box?"

Jin Xueyang was stunned, unable to react. His stagnant movements made him look guilty. "Mo Yan, why are you back? Didn't you take the bus to Wuxi?"

"The family suddenly had to deal with something and said they would pick me up again in the afternoon."

"I see," Jin Xueyang cleared his throat and shook off his awkwardness, grinning, "I got a call from Professor Chen. He said he needed something in this suitcase, and since he couldn't reach you, he called me to deliver it to him."

"Oh," Zhang Moyan said numbly as she turned around and closed the door, "I don't want to give it to him. Don't give it to him."

"Why?" Jin Xueyang looked puzzled. "Maybe he needs it urgently?"

Zhang Moyan took off her backpack and placed it on the shoe bench in the entrance hall, calm and natural. "Maybe the things inside are really not as simple as Geng Baishan said. He must be regretting giving it back to me. I made up my mind a few days ago. I plan to give this suitcase to Xiao Xingyu's grandfather and have him examine it and study it."

"Give it to Xiao Guotao?" Jin Xueyang followed Zhang Moyan to the living room in astonishment. "What are you going to give it to him for?"

Zhang Moyan took the kettle and went to the kitchen to fill it with water. "You know, our family has done something wrong to the Xiao family. I want to see if I can repair our relationship with them by doing this. Even if I can't, at least I can express my attitude to Mr. Xiao."

Jin Xueyang was completely baffled. "Repair the relationship? How is that even possible? Chen Yun killed a member of the Xiao family. That was Xiao Guotao's biological brother. How could they possibly wipe out such a deep hatred just because of this?"

Zhang Moyan paused as she pressed the faucet valve, and the sound of running water stopped abruptly.

The sudden silence made Jin Xueyang feel strange, but he didn't know what was wrong, so he stood there in a daze.

I don’t know how much time has passed, but Zhang Moyan still maintains the action of receiving water, motionless like a cement sculpture, and even the air around her seems to turn dark.

"Mo Yan?" Jin Xueyang approached cautiously, "What's wrong with you?"

Zhang Moyan placed the kettle steadily on the table, lowered her head and supported the sink with both hands. After a long time, she turned around and her voice was hoarse when she spoke.

"Xueyang, how do you know that the person Chen Yun killed was Xiao Guoxi?"

Jin Xueyang froze with his pupils dilated as if struck by lightning.

"I probably never told you, did I?" Zhang Moyan's lips trembled slightly. "I only told you that our Chen family and the Xiao family had a feud, but I never told you the details of my biological mother's relationship with the Xiao family."

Zhang Moyan was too familiar with Jin Xueyang and could tell from his subtle expression that he was flustered.

Something seemed to be surging violently in the suffocating space.

"Jin Xueyang, how much do you know?" Zhang Moyan asked bitterly, "Who are you?"

Jin Xueyang hadn't recovered from the previous question yet, and this one hit him right in the heart. His face turned pale and he was speechless.

Zhang Moyan frowned at him. "You changed your major in your sophomore year just to get closer to me, right? You've already confirmed that I'm Chen Yun's daughter and my relationship with Chen Guanfu, right? ... Could it be that you're after the celadon porcelain, too?"

Jin Xueyang loosened his grip and the white suitcase fell to the ground with a thud.

"Mo Yan is not what you think. Let me explain!" He took a hurried step forward and wanted to hug Zhang Mo Yan.

Zhang Moyan hunched her body and stepped back, making way for him. "What do you want to explain? You just said that Chen Guanfu asked you to deliver this box to him. Do you dare to ask him to verify it now?"

Jin Xueyang froze, large beads of sweat oozing out of his forehead.

Zhang Moyan looked at Jin Xueyang's expression, and her heart sank. She knew that Jin Xueyang would be exposed, but when he was exposed so easily, she felt really sad.

"Jin Xueyang, you're such a liar! You lie to me so often, right? ... Sorry, I lied to you too. The boss doesn't have any relatives in Wuxi getting married," she pointed to a small vase on the shelf in the entrance hall. "I put a camera there, and I came to stop you when I saw you taking something."

Jin Xueyang looked at Zhang Moyan in disbelief.

Zhang Moyan's expression was indescribably desolate. "Actually, I've long seen that there's something wrong with you. My social relationships aren't complicated, so it's easy to eliminate them. But even if I could sense that you had a problem, I couldn't bear to expose you, because you're my best and only confidant. I figured that as long as you didn't do anything else in the future, I'd forget about the past. I'd even be willing to satisfy you and be with you just so you can get back on track."
