Wang's old lady Yuan Hongying invited Zhang Moyan and Xiao Xingyu to dinner, and they drove there.
At five o'clock in the evening, the sun was setting. Xiao Xingyu leaned on the passenger seat, squinting his eyes and watching the cars passing by one by one in the rearview mirror outside the window.
"Brother Yu, what are you looking at?"
"Shh," Xiao Xingyu moved his lips, his expression and posture unchanged, "Don't disturb Mo Yan who's resting in the back."
"Oh." Xiao Wa inexplicably felt that his brother Yu's tone was serious, as if something was wrong, but he couldn't tell what was wrong. Obviously, everyone was fine when they got on the car separately just now.
As soon as Zhang Moyan and Xiao Xingyu walked into the magnificent private room, they saw an old lady with white hair and a youthful face, waiting inside. The table was already filled with dishes.
"Finally, you're here. Welcome, welcome," said Old Mrs. Yuan, smiling broadly as she stood up to greet them. She looked quite healthy. "Come here, my two good children, so I can take a closer look!"
The Wang family is half involved in the real estate circle and is very good at making friends. The old lady acted as if the matter of asking Wang Wenlong to test them had never happened. She affectionately held Zhang Moyan with one hand and Xiao Xingyu with the other.
"Hello."
"Hello, old man."
Zhang Moyan and Xiao Xingyu both greeted Old Lady Yuan.
Yuan Hongying gently shook their hands and looked at Zhang Moyan several times with deep emotion: "Well, you two are really a perfect match! One has real talent and the other can stick to the bottom line. You are a match made in heaven. You two can't live without each other!"
"You're absolutely right," Xiao Xingyu's words really touched his heart. He agreed, "If my wife hadn't been here today, I'm afraid I wouldn't have been able to get past you!"
Xiao Wa complained angrily, "Grandma, you and Uncle should have at least informed my dad about this scheme. You kept us in the dark and scared us to death!"
Wang Zhongguo understood very well: "You silly boy, how can the story you tell be so convincing?"
"It's all my fault, it's all my fault," Yuan Hongying said with a hint of embarrassment on her face. She put Zhang Moyan and Xiao Xingyu's hands together, "But it's better to be safe than sorry. We've never met before and don't know each other well enough. I really had to do this. Please don't feel bad!"
Xiao Xingyu took the opportunity to grab his wife's hand, smiling brightly, "I understand, I understand. You've been very thoughtful. We are truly strong and can withstand any test. Doesn't this prove that I'm a good person and have passed the test?"
"Yes, yes." Yuan Hongying affirmed, "True gold fears no fire."
"Everyone, please don't stand around," Wang Wenlong said, "Hurry up and take a seat while you eat and chat. The food will get cold soon!"
Since the dishes had been served long ago and the door of the private room was closed, no outsiders were allowed to enter, so it became a top-secret place for conversation.
The Wang family is indeed a family of businessmen, and they are well aware of the benefits of arranging conversations at the dinner table. After chatting about all sorts of things, the distance between them seemed to be shortened a lot. However, Zhang Moyan was most afraid of this kind of forced conversation. Fortunately, Xiao Xingyu was good at handling things, so she didn't need to do anything, just nod and smile at the right time.
Looking at the man who could handle things with ease, Zhang Moyan silently admitted that she could not do without Xiao Xingyu in the future.
"My grandfather said Mo Yan looks a lot like my mother-in-law," Xiao Xingyu said, bringing the conversation to a head naturally. "You've all seen my mother-in-law in person. Is that true?"
The table suddenly became quiet, and several eyes focused on Zhang Moyan. Zhang Moyan was like a vase, quietly accepting everyone's gaze.
"The face shape is a bit similar," Wang Wenlong sipped his wine, "but not exactly. My niece's wife is prettier!"
Wang Zhongguo stared at them for a long time, then added softly, "Their temperaments are quite similar. This kind of distance isn't something you see often."
"Yeah, that's true." Xiao Xingyu agreed deeply. He thought that he couldn't even see what Zhang Moyan looked like back then, but he was able to recognize her in the crowd at a glance three years later. It was all because of his recognition of her unique temperament.
Zhang Moyan waited for an opportunity to bring up the past. "You said before that my biological mother seemed to deliberately keep her distance from others. If that's the case, how did you get to know her, uncle?"
"Uh..." Wang Zhongguo stopped abruptly. This time, he stopped talking without the urban management captain reminding him, and his eyes involuntarily glanced at his old mother.
Yuan Hongying caught his gaze, nodded slightly, put down her chopsticks, wiped her mouth with a napkin, and looked up at Zhang Moyan with a hint of sadness in her eyes: "Where is your mother's grave now? I want to go and pay my respects to her when I have time."
"..." Zhang Moyan didn't expect the old lady to ask this out of the blue. She was stunned for a moment, then answered truthfully, "I don't know the exact location yet. She disappeared for a long time before her death. No one knew whether she was alive or dead, otherwise grandpa wouldn't have been looking for her all this time. As for the cemetery, it was only recently discovered thanks to grandpa's efforts. I need to ask for details."
Zhang Moyan suppressed her inner resistance and calmly called Chen Guanfu "Grandpa" in front of outsiders.
"Oh, you haven't been there either..." Yuan Hongying listened more patiently than anyone else, and then solemnly and regretfully asked, "Then when you ask, please let me know."
Zhang Moyan sensed something unusual and immediately asked, "You're going to pay your respects to her. Do you have a good impression of her? So...what do you think of her as a person?"
Zhang Moyan looked at the old lady eagerly. Unknowingly, she actually hoped to hear others express different opinions about Chen Yun.
"I know what you mean, but judging a person requires looking at their entire life. The time we spent with Chen Yunji was very short, not enough to judge whether she was good or bad," Yuan Hongying looked back at Zhang Moyan. "The only thing we can be sure of is that your mother is a capable person, someone our Wang family should be grateful to."
