After a twenty-minute drive, as dusk fell, the wild and powerful black SUV and the sexy red Porsche stopped at the same time in front of a Ming and Qing Dynasty house with green bricks and black tiles.
There was an energetic old man and two middle-aged women at the door who seemed to have been waiting for a long time. When they saw the two cars from a distance, they came to meet them.
"We're here!" Xiao Xingyu unbuckled his seat belt. After the battle just now, Zhang Moyan clearly felt that Xiao Xingyu's attitude towards her had warmed up a lot. That was great. She didn't have to follow him dejectedly anymore.
"Is this... your home?" Zhang Moyan stared in shock at the building outside the car window that looked like it could be rated as a cultural relic protection unit, her mouth hanging open.
Xiao Xingyu reached out and grabbed FENDI and her things from the back seat: "Yeah, quite surprised, right?"
"Yes!" Zhang Moyan took the initiative to take her work bag. Xiao Xingyu's ability to talk to her normally greatly encouraged Zhang Moyan, who had been looking at Xiao Xingyu's cold face all day. Of course, she responded positively: "Your house looks like it has a lot of historical heritage!"
Xiao Xingyu smiled at her, his smile was clean and confident, then pushed the door and got out of the car. As soon as his feet touched the ground, he was surrounded by uncles and aunts waiting at the car door.
"Xingyu, we heard you'd come back and we've been waiting for you for so long that our eyes are sore!"
"Uncle Chai, Aunt Wang, Aunt Yao!"
"Hey! Hurry, go home and wash your face first!"
Zhang Moyan also took her things and got out of the car. She stood still, staring intently at the incredible Xiao family mansion in front of her.
The fully enclosed wall is five or six meters high and is estimated to be more than a hundred meters long. The dark gate is built like an ancient city gate. On the left and right of the gate, there is a four-lion drum stone, which symbolizes "four generations living under one roof". The lights on the door are bright, illuminating the four large characters "respectful, frugal, solemn and quiet" inscribed on the lintel. It looks like it has been there for quite some time. It looks like a family motto, and also like the owner's expression of his indifferent and aspirational mind.
The evening breeze is cool and the air is fresh.
Looking around where the Xiao family lived, it should still be in the suburbs of the city, but there were already green hills all around. In the dim twilight, one could see the undulating mountain ridges in the distance, the lush forests, and faint clear sounds in the distance. Although it could not be seen with the naked eye, there should still be green water rippling across the water.
Ruzhou is a place with clear and majestic mountains and rivers, and has been a place of outstanding people since ancient times. A porcelain gate that has lasted for thousands of years is thus secluded and detached from the world, nestled among the green mountains and clear waters.
"Are we going to live here?" Zhang Moyan murmured as if talking to herself.
Xiao Xingyu tilted his head: "You look very excited!"
?
When a big pot lid was lifted, Zhang Moyan instantly came out of her poetic and picturesque mood. She probably didn't show any excitement, right?
She couldn't say she was excited, but it was indeed a special experience to be able to live in a mansion that was probably hundreds of years old, so she nodded.
"Don't be happy too soon," Xiao Xingyu leaned over and suddenly said to her in a child-like tone, "I'm telling you, someone has died in every house here!"
Huh? Zhang Moyan didn't know what expression to make.
Is this person childish?
Someone has died in every house, he thinks his house is the Forbidden City!
"Xingyu, what are you talking about?" Uncle Chai saw injustice and stood up to help. He was more fierce than Xiao Xingyu and came over to greet Zhang Moyan with a smile. "Who is this girl?"
There was a bang of a car door slamming shut, and Xiao Mumu answered loudly, "This is Miss Zhang, Big Brother's personal female bodyguard!"
He walked up with a smile, carrying the souvenirs Zhang Moyan had bought, and boasted to Uncle Chai and the two aunts, "She's amazing! I've just witnessed her skills!"
Zhang Moyan's hair was covered with vertical lines, and Uncle Chai and the two aunts looked at her with strange eyes.
"Oh, welcome, welcome!" Aunt Wang was stunned for a second, then came forward warmly to help Zhang Moyan get her things.
Zhang Moyan's mind immediately echoed with Xiao Xingyu's words, "Hide your thing, don't scare my family." She quickly waved her hand and declined, "No, I can do it myself. It's not serious."
Zhang Moyan had a fairy-like appearance with a cold and aloof look, and her refusal seemed to be unconditional. So Aunt Wang didn't insist and instead waved them in, "Come in quickly, I'll make you a pot of good tea!"
"Don't worry," Xiao Xingyu handed the bag to Uncle Chai, "Where is Grandpa?"
"The old man is in the kiln. He just went to the kiln today and is guarding it there every step of the way."
When Xiao Xingyu heard this, he said, "Then I'll go see grandpa first!"
Uncle Chai led the way, slowly pushing open the heavily closed gate of the Xiao family's house. Zhang Moyan followed behind, and the moment she stepped over the high threshold of the Xiao family's house, she felt a sense of joy, as if she had stepped into a treasure trove of time.
The Xiao family mansion was magnificent from the outside, and even more impressive from the inside. Deep gates and multiple buildings, several large courtyards within a dozen smaller ones, countless corridors, archways, and houses, along with piles of rocks and grass and flowers, it took Zhang Moyan only a few minutes to get dazzled.
Perhaps Zhang Moyan's confused expression was too obvious, so Uncle Chai gave her a brief introduction. The Xiao family's head branch basically lived in this house. The courtyard was divided into left, middle and right. The eldest son and grandson of the eldest house were all on the east side, while people like Xiao Huai and Xiao Mumu lived on the west side. The middle part was mainly some functional main halls and living rooms, and at the back there were gardens, study rooms, and grandfather's kiln room.
Xiao Guotao didn't like to be disturbed while he was firing the kiln, so Xiao Mumu excused herself to go back to see her seven-month-old son. Xiao Xingyu and Uncle Chai, illuminated by moonlight and lantern lights, walked past the intricately carved screen wall that greeted the entrance, with Zhang Moyan following silently behind them.
She knew she probably shouldn't follow him, should actively avoid him, but the temptation to meet Mr. Xiao Guotao, a reclusive and rarely seen representative of China's Ru porcelain intangible cultural heritage, was too great. She had made up her mind: as long as Xiao Xingyu didn't tell her to get out, she would shamelessly follow him.
