fight
After Zhou Lexing sorted out his relationship with Li Hubing, they were already some distance away from the threshing ground, but they could still see the golden wheat grains and many figures peeking in their direction.
He Huaizhi followed at a distance, and when he saw them stop, he immediately perked up, ready to rush into the fighting area and perform some kind of 'hero saves the beauty' scene. However, Zhou Lexing suddenly reached out and patted Liu Wu on the shoulder, saying something. Liu Wu showed no sign of annoyance and even nodded at him.
He Huaizhi was dumbfounded: What's going on?
In his mind, these two people were irreconcilable enemies, sworn enemies who would either die or be killed.
If the local bullies in Lucheng were the big bosses that He Huaizhi was leveling up, then Liu Wu was undoubtedly the small bosses that Zhou Lexing was leveling up. There was no way they could get along.
But now it seems that these two people, if not close, are at least on good terms.
He Huaizhi was wondering what was going on and was about to step forward to hear more about the situation when he saw one of the henchmen following behind Liu Wu walk away.
Zhou Lexing followed Liu Wu and continued walking out, seemingly heading in the direction of Zhoujia Village.
Could it be that he's mistaken?
Did the two just confirm the location for their fight?
Is it normal to discuss things before a fight?
Unable to understand, He Huaizhi quickly took a few steps, pushed aside the group of thugs trying to stop him, and forced his way to Zhou Lexing's side, feigning concern as he asked, "Are you alright? What are they going to do to you?!"
Zhou Lexing glanced at He Huaizhi, then suddenly punched him.
He Huaizhi was completely unprepared, and the punch landed squarely on his nose. The pain brought tears to his eyes, and he covered his nose, unable to speak for a long time. He could only point at Zhou Lexing with a trembling finger, as if he was about to go crazy with anger.
Zhou Lexing: "Don't try to act in front of me. If you bother me again, I'll break your legs."
This superficial and fake concern is something that only the simple-minded Gu Jiansheng would buy into.
But that's just how illogical the plot is.
Zhou Lexing looked at He Huaizhi to confirm the location of his injury, and just then saw two tubes of blood flowing down from his nose. He looked away in disgust.
This guy seems to have the ability to heal quickly; it's probably the protagonist's halo at work.
The saying goes, "Know yourself and know your enemy, and you will never be defeated." Zhou Lexing didn't mind knowing He Huaizhi's weaknesses and advantages, but he had no interest in having any more interactions with such a person. In fact, because of He Huaizhi's face, Zhou Lexing felt that his temper had become more volatile these past two days. He was easily angered and always wanted to lose his temper for no reason. On the other hand, he couldn't muster any energy to do anything and felt so frustrated that he was going crazy. It was only because of his self-control that he didn't beat He Huaizhi to death.
Zhou Lexing hit someone and, without any hesitation, strode forward.
Liu Wu felt inexplicably cheerful and followed behind Zhou Lexing with a smug look on his face, which made He Huaizhi grit his teeth in anger.
This guy, this guy...
He will definitely make Zhou Lexing regret it!
Whether Zhou Lexing regrets it now is unknown, but he did experience a brief moment of pleasure.
Zhou Dongqiang's house looked like a bare shell. They were just lucky. The henchmen who came to arrest him saw Zhou Dongqiang and a group of burly men walking out and heading menacingly towards Zhou Lexing's house.
Realizing he couldn't capture such a large group on his own, he immediately turned and ran back to inform Liu Wu.
“Looks like it won’t work.” Liu Wu turned to Zhou Lexing, who was clearly in a bad mood. “I know you don’t want your mother to worry, but given the current situation, taking such a large group of people outside the village…”
Zhou Lexing waved his hand, quickened his pace, and headed directly in the direction the henchmen pointed. It seemed he really wanted to drive the group of people out of the village by himself.
Liu Wu quickly led his men to follow.
In the threshing ground, Aunt Lihua watched with her own eyes as Zhou Lexing left with a group of hooligans from the neighboring village. It would be a lie to say she wasn't worried. Without the slightest hesitation, she quickly and quietly called the younger members of her family to find someone to help, and then personally went to communicate with Zhou Yuanxiang.
She was getting on in years and couldn't walk as fast as the young people. From afar, she saw Zhou Dongqiang, the old widower from the village, leading a group of people toward the Gu family's house.
Aunt Lihua's eyelids twitched as she watched, her heart pounding with panic. Then she saw Zhou Lexing running straight toward the group of men, seemingly oblivious to the burly men carrying weapons. Behind Zhou Lexing, a string of men were relentlessly pursuing him, creating a terrifying scene of being caught between a rock and a hard place.
Aunt Lihua was so frightened she almost screamed. She cursed herself for what she had done, but there was really nothing she could do in this crisis. She didn't even have a hoe or sickle in her hand. Just as she was pacing around anxiously, she saw Zhou Lexing rush to Zhou Dongqiang, who was walking at the front, and kick him away.
Things happened too fast. Zhou Lexing had long arms and legs, and his running speed was not to be underestimated. He rushed forward like a gust of wind, while Liu Wu and the others were still chasing after him. He had already started fighting with the group of strong men who couldn't react in time.
These men with weapons were specially sent by the town to collect debts. They didn't have any particular rules, except for one thing: they wouldn't stop until they got the money.
They were skeptical of what Zhou Dongqiang said, but rather than keeping their doubts to themselves, it was their style to confront the people who owed Zhou Dongqiang money face to face and try to get the money back.
But they never expected that they would run into something on the street, and that this thing that ran into them was a tough nut to crack.
"Who are you?! What do you want?!" This group of people usually only saw gamblers who fawned over them. This was the first time they had ever seen a madman who suddenly appeared without saying a word, who was also agile and could break a person's bones with a single punch.
Zhou Lexing ignored him, grabbed the stick from the man who rushed in front of him, and twisted it in his hand. The man cried out in pain and dropped the stick. With a weapon, Zhou Lexing became even more like a demon, and even several skilled fighters couldn't hold him down.
Liu Wu was out of breath from running, and before he could even catch his breath, he waved his hand to signal his brothers behind him to come forward and help. But everyone was panting heavily, covered in sweat, and their legs were still weak. They didn't have the strength to read Liu Wu's hand gestures.
This delay meant that by the time Liu Wu caught his breath and looked up, the war was nearing its end.
Zhou Lexing lifted Zhou Dongqiang, who was huddled in the corner, his face full of hostility: "You're bringing people to my house as guests?"
Previously, Zhou Lexing hadn't entirely believed Liu Wu's words, treating them merely as a pastime. He'd just watch how the show went, as it was just a way to pass the time. However, the henchman's words immediately reminded him of the night Zhou Shusheng was terrified by the Zhou family. The anger in his heart instantly consumed Zhou Lexing's rationality. Not to mention, he could tell at a glance that this group was aggressive and had ill intentions. In his mind, their leader, Zhou Dongqiang, immediately lost any reason to live.
Zhou Dongqiang was in pain and terrified, trembling all over, even his genitals were trembling: "No, no, no..."
Zhou Dongqiang shook his head frantically.
Zhou Lexing, however, grabbed him by the neck.
Zhou Dongqiang quickly rolled his eyes, his face turned red and purple, his feet kicked the ground, and he gasped for breath, which startled Liu Wu.
"Are you crazy?!" Liu Wu, having just caught his breath, rushed forward and grabbed Zhou Lexing's hand. "Don't be impulsive! We have plenty of ways to deal with him! Don't end up with a life in our hands!"
Liu Wu had previously thought that Zhou Lexing was two-faced, good-looking but rotten to the core, and that he had one wicked trick after another. But after the battle at the warehouse, he felt that Zhou Lexing was true to his name. Although his actions were absurd, they always had an indescribable charm that made people want to get closer and see him more clearly. But the Zhou Lexing he saw now made Liu Wu feel like he was back when they first met. That sinister energy was almost chilling.
Liu Wu's action of stopping him was almost instinctive. When Zhou Lexing's somewhat red eyes looked at him, he seemed to wake up in shock and was so frightened by that look that he almost let go.
Fortunately, Zhou Lexing regained some of his rationality after being stopped.
As soon as he let go, Zhou Dongqiang collapsed to the ground like a rag doll.
A scarred man, barely able to sit up, seized the opportunity and lunged at Zhou Lexing from behind, grabbing his neck. Zhou Lexing frowned, raised his hand to grab the tightening arm, and pushed off the ground with both feet to quickly retreat, slamming the man against the wall with an elbow strike. Then, he leaned forward and pulled the man over like a piece of paper, letting out a muffled groan as he collapsed to the ground.
The combo was so smooth and fluid that Liu Wu opened his mouth, momentarily stunned. He suddenly recalled the battle at the warehouse and realized that Zhou Lexing was very special to him. Otherwise, given Zhou Lexing's skills, he probably would have been beaten to death long ago.
The leader of the thugs clutched his stomach and retreated to sit against the wall. Seeing Zhou Lexing's skills, he knew they had encountered a tough nut to crack. Moreover, judging from his attitude towards Zhou Dongqiang, he knew that the root of the problem was not with them at all, and they were probably being used as pawns by Zhou Dongqiang.
After pausing for a moment, he asked in a surprisingly polite tone, "Brother, which gang are you from?"
When Zhou Lexing heard this gangster-like tone in real life, he felt completely out of place. If he hadn't been still angry, he probably would have gotten goosebumps.
He glanced at the man, but before he could say anything, he heard a commotion coming from not far away. Turning around, he saw villagers rushing towards him with their tools.
Aunt Lihua was still standing there in a daze when she heard her child calling for help. She suddenly came to her senses and quickly called everyone over.
"Lexing, are you... alright?" Zhou Lihua asked with difficulty, because anyone with eyes could see the horrific scene, a horrific tragedy that she had personally witnessed Zhou Lexing orchestrate.
Zhou Lexing noticed a hint of fear in Aunt Lihua's eyes.
He shook his head slightly and said nothing more.
The villagers asked all sorts of questions about what was going on. The people from Lijia Village that Liu Wu brought saw that they were coming in a menacing manner and were afraid of being caught in the crossfire. They quickly explained the situation in a few words. When they heard that Zhou Dongqiang had come to the village with debt collectors to extort money, they were all filled with righteous indignation.
The previous incident in Zhoulaozhuang could be described as an internal dispute within Zhoujia Village, which wouldn't sound good if it got out. But this group of outsiders causing trouble in their village was a real blunder that offended the villagers.
"Take them to the town police station!"
"That's right, anyone who dares to cause trouble in our village should be sent to jail!"
At this moment, the thugs were either lying down or sitting, looking like spineless shrimps. The villagers were not afraid of them and reached out to pull them away one by one.
This group of people had been collecting debts for years and had encountered troublemakers and problems before. When things got out of hand, they knew they should back down. Anyway, once they got to town, their boss would naturally protect them.
Thinking about it that way, everyone became obedient and did as they were told. Only Zhou Dongqiang was so frightened that he burst into tears and kept begging for mercy. Finally, he suddenly raised his voice and said, "It was all Li Hubing's doing that made me do it! It has nothing to do with me!"
"It was Li Hubing who told me to trick the debt collectors into causing trouble for Zhou Lexing! It was also Li Hubing who told me to ruin the crops! It's all Li Hubing's fault! He's the one who wanted the land and fields, it has nothing to do with me!"
Zhou Dongqiang's voice was hoarse from shouting, his face was covered in tears and snot, and bloody saliva dripped from his mouth as he opened and closed it. He was being pulled by the villagers, like a dehydrated fish struggling incessantly. Zhou Lexing's murderous look had already terrified him, and now that he was being dragged to squat by the fence, he was even more frightened and uttered all sorts of pleas for mercy.
The leader of the thugs spat at his pathetic appearance, cursing his bad luck in his heart. His gaze then fixed on Zhou Lexing's tall and straight back, and he kept repeating Zhou Lexing's name in his mind.
He really bit the hand that feeds him this time. Before things even got out of hand, he was beaten badly. He had to give his boss an explanation for this, and Zhou Lexing was undoubtedly a better excuse to get away with it than Zhou Dongqiang, that good-for-nothing.
