Chapter 10 The Mysterious Man

Talk is cheap; practice will tell.

Honglian led the three to the backyard of the villa, which led to the depths of the forest.

"You all know about slimes, right?" Honglian asked as she walked.

"Yes." The three nodded.

"Slimes are the most numerous elemental spirits on the continent, and this forest is no exception."

As Honglian spoke, she glanced at Xiao He meaningfully.

“They can at least improve their levels by hunting, but you are different.”

"The element is just a name; there is no such substance in reality. Therefore, '生' here is not a noun but more like a verb."

"It's like fertilizer, possessing the power to make any element grow and multiply. It's invisible and intangible, yet it's everywhere. Because the life element is the most difficult to cultivate, priests are also the rarest on the continent."

Xiao He nodded. In fact, this body's memories didn't contain much knowledge about elementalists.

He only had a vague recollection of the basics Honglian had mentioned.

Because similar explanations can be found in textbooks for novice pastors.

However, perhaps because Xiao He had poor comprehension skills, he did not retain this knowledge in his mind.

She started learning at age 6, and even now at 15, she has only managed to slowly climb to level 5, and that was only after using magic potions bought by Nanbo...

Honglian could tell that Xiao He didn't have much of a foundation, so she could only patiently teach him from the basics.

"Okay, do you see those two water slimes by the stream ahead?"

“We saw it,” Xiao He and Nan Bai replied.

"Come on! Let's test it out."

After Honglian finished speaking, she turned her head and called out, "Xuefeng, can you hear where they are?"

Wang Xuefeng nodded slightly: "Yes."

"Just shoot one, don't kill it."

"good."

The forest was very quiet; if you listened carefully, you could hear the "gurgling" sound made by the slime.

This was not a difficult task for Wang Xuefeng.

He pulled a revolver from his waist and casually tossed it around.

After the gunshots rang out, the slimes realized they were under attack.

"Excellent marksmanship!" Honglian praised without reservation, then turned around and said, "Xiaohe, try the question you just mentioned."

Xiao He nodded and silently opened his palm.

A completely black lotus flower quietly appeared in his palm.

"this?!"

Honglian and Nanbai both widened their eyes in unison.

Just a moment ago, this lotus flower was clearly as white as jade, how could it have changed so much in the blink of an eye...?

"Please wait a moment."

After Xiao He finished speaking, he walked straight to the stream, where two water slimes were still frantically spinning on the surface of the water.

They have no eyes or noses, but are simply clumps of elements. They don't even have consciousness; all their actions stem from their perception of the elements.

Because they are extremely weak and contain very little elemental energy, they have become the most common "experience babies" for beginners.

If you're diligent enough and farm slimes every day to absorb their elemental power, you can level up from zero to around level ten in three to five years.

The Minor Restoration Spell is still the same Minor Restoration Spell.

Having already experienced this once, Xiao He did not notice any changes during the casting of the Minor Restoration spell.

Although the target water slime was wandering around, it did not affect the accuracy of the skill's aim.

"laugh--"

With a strange noise, Honglian's eyes widened in shock.

The water slime actually turned into water vapor and evaporated?

"That's the problem."

Xiao He turned around and scratched his head helplessly.

"This?" Nan Bai, standing to the side, rubbed his eyes, completely baffled.

Logically speaking, a simple healing spell might not be enough to fully restore the injured slime, but it shouldn't have killed it outright...

Honglian has lived most of her life and has seen all sorts of things, from all over the country.

She couldn't explain this bizarre phenomenon no matter how hard she tried, and could only stare at each other blankly at the equally bewildered Nanbo.

Xiao He lowered his head, quietly looking at the flower in his palm, while his mind began to rapidly calculate the various data from earlier.

"Does this mean the healing amount is converted into actual damage?"

"None of the healing skills can be blocked by shields. If the current mutated healing spell is still considered a healing skill, then it's equivalent to true damage that ignores defense..."

Thinking this, Xiao He raised his hand and cast a "Bright Light of Protection" to shield the other slime.

Immediately afterwards, another beam of light from a minor healing spell descended.

0.8 seconds.

It evaporated at the exact same speed as the slime from before.

"The shield doesn't seem to offer any resistance, but it's also possible that the slime's base health is too low to meet the experimental criteria..."

Honglian stepped forward and overheard him muttering to himself. She couldn't help but ask in confusion, "What experimental standards?"

Xiao He turned to the side, his gaze falling on a large tree beside him.

"Mentor, look."

After saying that, he cast a healing spell on the tree trunk.

Honglian looked in the direction he was pointing and her pupils immediately contracted.

The once vibrant tree was now visibly withering, its leaves falling in large swaths, as if bringing late autumn forward.

"you……"

It took Honglian a while to come to her senses: "What kind of evil and heretical doctrine is this? Even a wizard isn't like this."

She saw it clearly; it was the King of Heaven himself who had arrived, and it was also a minor restoration spell cast by a novice priest!
