Chapter 177 The Committee's Spy (Part 1)

Instead of driving straight back to the academy, Xiao He found a comfortable restaurant to welcome the two back.

Patika listened to their conversation silently the whole time, never interrupting once.

According to the agreement between Xiao He and Valerie to take turns, Valerie will accompany Patika to the classroom to study in the afternoon.

"Didn't you say you brought me something?" Xiao He asked Wang Xuefeng while eating.

The latter took out a badge with the Nobel Committee logo and handed it to her from under the table.

“This…” Xiao He looked astonished.

[Xiao He: Where did you get this? What level is it?]

[Wang Xuefeng: Among the group of believers last night, one was a mole within the committee. When he realized he had nowhere to escape, he hurriedly hid the badge underground.]

[Wang Xuefeng: I dug it out when no one was paying attention, and I didn't tell anyone else, so I don't know its level.]

[Xiao He: Great!! I'll check what level it is in a bit, as long as we can get into the committee building!]

[Xiao He: By the way, where will these people be sent for interrogation?]

[Wang Xuefeng: Committee's Judicial Department]

[Xiao He: Wouldn't that be like releasing a tiger back into the mountains?]

[Wang Xuefeng: So I applied for escort duty, the time is after school in the evening, just the two of us.]

[Xiao He: As expected of you]

Upon hearing this news, Xiao He's mind immediately began to stir.

What she wants to do most right now is to infiltrate the committee's database and modify her information...

Pattika ate at her usual slow pace.

By the time the four of them rushed back to the High Court, the countdown to class had just begun.

Xiao He diligently played the role of driver, first taking Patika and the other two girls to the Water Academy, then taking Wang Xuefeng to the Wind Academy, and finally driving alone to the library.

Surprisingly few books are available about the committee here; they mainly consist of its development history and key personnel changes.

Fortunately, a book about recent history briefly mentions the department corresponding to each badge design.

"Sure enough, this is the patrol team's badge." Xiao He's eyes lit up.

The book contains only a few words, but it is still possible to see that the inspection team is divided into various positions, although they are not listed in detail.

"There are too few clues...this is a bit troublesome..."

"It seems we need to approach this from other angles..."

Xiao He silently made plans in his mind.

-

It had just gotten dark.

A vehicle transporting prisoners was parked in front of the east gate of the Nobel Committee building.

All the prisoners had their heads covered with black cloth and were linked together by a chain, walking off the train one by one.

Wang Xuefeng led the way, holding the chain, while Xiao He followed at the very back of the procession.

After verifying their identities, the guard leader allowed them to pass, and also sent two other people to accompany the group, one in front and one behind. Wang Xuefeng took the opportunity to inquire about some seemingly unimportant information from the guards.

In less than ten minutes, with the help of the two men, the prisoners were locked into temporary solitary cells one by one.

Back in the train carriage, Wang Xuefeng had already secretly placed a "disposable listening device" on the spy.

This is a handy little tool that Yang Xing provided for him before he left.

Its fatal flaws were its range and duration, so it wasn't until the very last moment that he installed it on the spy.

After doing everything, the two left the building obediently, leaving no doubts for anyone.

As a result, the two had only been out for a short while when they quietly hid in the darkness and put on a ghostly cloak that could block out their presence.

"Do you think they'll be interrogated overnight?" Xiao He asked, hiding among the dense foliage and peering through the gaps at the still-lit building.

“No, not normally. The guard said the interrogation process is public, so we’ll wait until tomorrow morning,” Wang Xuefeng whispered, squatting down beside her.

Xiao He nodded silently. Although she was already fairly certain that the contact person was Wan Anna, she still wanted to hear what was wrong with this woman.

"Then we can only wait and see if the person who colluded with him will show up tonight."

“Definitely.” Wang Xuefeng explained, “If we miss tonight, after the interrogation tomorrow, they will die, and there will be no chance to communicate intelligence.”

"Okay! Then we'll wait here for the night."

After Xiao He finished speaking, he sat down directly on the branch.

The scene inside the building kept replaying in her mind; this was the "division of labor" she and Wang Xuefeng had agreed upon.

While escorting the prisoners, Wang Xuefeng was responsible for gathering information, while Xiao He pretended to be curious, looking around. In reality, her system's recording function had already been activated.

Others glanced at her casually, so they had no suspicions about her whatsoever.

With a little free time, she used the "replay video" function to carefully observe the building's structure.

Although the committee building is also called a "building", it is not comparable to an ordinary building.

According to Wang Xuefeng's perception, each floor of this building has a different height, and there are also many underground floors, making it impossible to estimate its total area.

Therefore, Xiao He currently only knows the route from the east gate of the building to the temporary prison; he knows nothing else.

"Sigh... If Xiao Xing had his advanced technology, he could have cracked it in no time." Xiao He sighed helplessly.

After an unknown amount of time, Wang Xuefeng's expression suddenly changed.

The "listening device" feedback came to his mind, which made him immediately hold his breath and concentrate.

Although Xiao He couldn't hear it, he knew something must have happened, so he waited patiently by the side...

"Squeak—"

The silent cell echoed with the faint sound of a door opening; there seemed to be no one else nearby, perhaps they had been sent away.

"Mmm...mmm..."

The prisoner, whose mouth was gagged, became somewhat agitated.

"What's wrong with you? How could this possibly go wrong?"

Wan Anna's rebuke wasn't loud, but you could hear the extreme anger in her voice.

After a while, the man whose mouth had been sealed was panting heavily, as if he had been freed from his restraints.

"How was I supposed to know their formation team would be this powerful!"

"Didn't you say you had extremely high skill in formations?"

"But this time we've really met our match!" the man tried to argue.

“Even I can’t break the chains on you,” Wan Anna said coldly.

"What should we do?!" The man panicked again.

“I’ve found you a defense attorney. During tomorrow’s interrogation, just say you were arrested and know nothing else, understand?”

"No? This? Will this work?"

"This is the only way now. I've gathered the evidence, and I guarantee you'll be released without charge."

"Okay... fine..." The man sounded somewhat dejected.

"How much do you know about the girl I want?" Wan Anna asked bluntly.

"Well... I haven't been able to find out anything about her identity yet; the situation was urgent at the time..."

The man's tone was somewhat evasive, as if he still harbored a sliver of hope.
