Is there no solution to this problem?
Nobody knows.
Lucadi had just stepped out of the cabin when he heard about the topic that was spreading across the deck.
He was taken aback, because he had never thought about these things before.
"Commander." Wang Xuefeng waved.
Lucadi snapped out of his daze upon hearing his call and continued walking towards the two of them.
"How's the analysis going?"
"We'll probably have to be extra careful with this mission."
"How so?"
"The current situation in the mainland is extremely serious. The Millennium Resurgence always attacks multiple cities simultaneously, resulting in insufficient support from Yanluo Military City to all sides. It seems that the root of all these problems lies in the mastermind behind the Millennium Resurgence, but upon closer examination, the motives of this mastermind are quite perplexing."
“Motive…” Lucadi frowned: “The Church of Resurrection has its eye on Yanluo Military City? They want to take it for themselves?”
Wang Xuefeng didn't say anything, but simply handed his draft paper, along with the list of members, to Lucadi.
As shown on the map, Yanluo Military City is located on the Yanluo Plateau, making it easy to defend and difficult to attack, but this is only true in the context of human warfare.
For example, when the millennium revival arrives and the entire Flying Dragon Clan awakens, the first to die will be Yanluo Army City.
The continent of Nuojin is a giant island, where a wide variety of monsters have been revived, but the older they are, the more they tend to be flying.
Seabirds, bats, flying fish... and countless sub-pterosaurs, like flying species hybridized with something.
Under such circumstances, it is clearly unsuitable for human cities to be located in such high-altitude terrain.
Unless it's not inhabited by humans.
Lucadi's brow furrowed deeper and deeper. It was obvious to anyone with eyes that Yanluo City was in danger, but they still spared no effort in sending troops to aid the surrounding cities.
If these were the leaders of these cities, their gratitude towards Yanluo Military City would probably go far beyond kneeling and kowtowing.
All of this seemed normal, even exciting, but Lucadi didn't understand what Wang Xuefeng meant by "keeping a watchful eye."
He carefully reviewed all the annotations on the draft paper again.
“What I mean is, the situation at the Nuojin Committee is unclear right now, so we shouldn’t blindly believe what those who are asking for help say. Otherwise, our well-intentioned support troops might end up being someone’s accomplices, and that would be a disgrace to us…” Wang Xuefeng explained softly.
“Okay, I understand.” Lucadi nodded slightly, his gaze on the map somewhat serious.
“By the way, do you have any suggestions regarding this group assignment?” Lucadi asked.
"Me?" Wang Xuefeng was taken aback. "I suggest that Xiao He and I form a separate group."
"Two people per group?" Lucadi asked in surprise.
"Yes, treat it as a special operations team, responsible for investigating the whole story, not primarily for participating in one-sided support operations," Wang Xuefeng explained.
"Only two people?" Lucadi asked with some concern. "Should we allocate some more players?"
"No need," Wang Xuefeng declined his offer, "the two of us can move very quickly, and any other people would only be a burden." He believed that the fewer people who knew Xiao He's secret, the better.
"Okay! As long as you have confidence, that's enough!"
Lucadi didn't insist; he preferred members who were easy to manage.
With Wang Xuefeng's reminder, he felt he needed to go back and analyze the situation, so he didn't linger on the deck and turned back to the cabin.
Valerie, who had just stepped out of the cabin, brushed past him and greeted him, but only received a perfunctory response.
She was a little confused, so she turned her gaze to the two people leaning against the railing.
Hey! What are you guys doing?
"It's windy."
"Seriously? You're a wind-type character, why would you need to stand outside in the wind?"
"It saves effort."
Valerie pouted, walked to Xiao He's side, and leaned weakly against the railing, facing outwards.
"What's wrong? Seasick?" Xiao He asked with a smile.
"It's alright, I don't feel seasick, but... this ship is so boring!"
Valerie made no attempt to hide her complaints.
Last time, she was driven almost crazy after just a few hours. This time, it's going to take three days, and she feels like crying.
"Then find yourself something to do," Xiao He shrugged.
"Hey, you just keep getting chilled by the wind, don't you get tired of it?" Valerie asked, full of questions.
“Nutritious? Ask the people on the ship, who complains about it?” Xiao He retorted.
Valerie paused, then turned around and, like her, leaned against the railing, her gaze slowly sweeping over the small groups of people on the deck.
Most of them were chatting, while a few sat in the middle of the deck playing chess or cards.
It wasn't boring, but it wasn't particularly exciting either.
Aside from the occasional person who wins a game and lets out a loud shout, only a few people get any attention.
"Is this how the support troops usually are?" Valerie stroked her chin.
"Yes," Xiao He shrugged. "What else did you think?"
“I…I thought?” Valerie scratched her head. “I don’t know either. I thought they would arrive in a flash, because they always arrive in a flash…”
"What you're talking about is a teleportation array." Xiao He rolled his eyes at her.
"Oh! Right! A teleportation array!"
Valerie's eyes lit up; she was very familiar with that word!
"Why can't we use the teleportation portal?"
"Because there isn't."
"Why not? Hasn't this always been there?"
Xiao He burped: "Because it's been blocked."
"Huh?" Valerie tilted her head.
She couldn't understand why people would ban something so useful and then choose this long and arduous journey.
"This is hard to explain." Xiao He felt a headache coming on just thinking about having to say such a thing.
"No, no, I want to know, otherwise my learning of teleportation arrays will be useless!" Valerie immediately got stuck on this obsession.
Xiao He waved his hands repeatedly, replying with a look of resistance, "This is a political issue, it has nothing to do with your studies. You can study it, you'll still be able to use it in the future."
"Really?" Valerie was skeptical, then muttered to herself, "Sigh... and they said I just invented a teleportation portal..."
"A teleportation portal?" Xiao He raised an eyebrow and casually asked, "Is it any different from a teleportation array?"
“Of course!” Valerie said firmly.
What's the difference?
"The teleportation array is on the ground, but the teleportation portal is on the wall!"
"Pfft—" Xiao He was immediately amused by her.
"I haven't finished yet!" Valerie said, hands on her hips, clearly annoyed. "Since it's a door in the wall, it definitely needs a lock and a peephole! When someone knocks, you can look through the peephole first before deciding whether to open the door!"
"..." Xiao He and Wang Xuefeng were both stunned.
"This is what I invented! It's just that currently it can only be done by one person..."
"Oh dear, this kind of experiment can be improved gradually!"
Valerie's rambling became increasingly incoherent, sounding like a PhD lecturing elementary school students on advanced mathematics.
