The valley was very quiet after the sound of blacksmithing was silenced.
Ani stiffly raised her head.
"You are students of the Fifth Grade Academy."
"Greetings, seniors." The two bowed discreetly.
"What are you doing here? Who sent you?"
"The teacher hopes you can go back," Xiao He said, making up a story with a sincere expression.
"Teacher...teacher...teacher..."
Ani kept repeating it, his gaze growing increasingly cloudy.
Jia Bo, inside the temple, had already stared wide-eyed.
He didn't understand why this strange man, who was clearly ignoring him, would suddenly start talking to Xiao He and the other person.
After a long while, Ani lowered his head and continued forging.
Xiao He and Wang Xuefeng exchanged a glance, both somewhat surprised.
[Xiao He: Why did he suddenly stop talking to us?]
[Wang Xuefeng: His thoughts were somewhat confused; he himself couldn't sort them out.]
[Xiao He: So he won't attack us...? What will happen if we go into the temple?]
[Wang Xuefeng: Don't move, I'll go try.]
Xiao He: Good.
Wang Xuefeng silently bypassed Ani and slowly stepped into the temple like an ordinary person.
Xiao He kept a close eye on the latter's movements, and she would stop him immediately if he made a move.
However, she miscalculated again.
Ani acted as if she hadn't seen anything, treating the two of them like they were invisible.
Wang Xuefeng walked to the iron cage, shot the lock, and pulled Jia Bo out.
"Thank you! Thank you!" Jia Bo was overwhelmed with gratitude. "I almost thought I was going to die here..."
"Don't speak, come with me."
"Uh-huh."
As the two of them walked out of the gate without incident, Xiao He's suspicions grew stronger.
She looked at Ani again, but he didn't react at all, as if the cage inside wasn't his responsibility.
Her heart skipped a beat for no apparent reason.
[Xiao He: There might be a trap!]
[Xiao He: It's most likely that the Bluebird deliberately lured us here!]
[Wang Xuefeng: No matter what, get Jia Bo away first.]
"clang!"
Ani diligently continued tapping away. Aside from greeting the two of them, he remained completely indifferent to the "hostage's" escape.
-
The three of them stopped when they reached a safe place.
Jia Bo was panting heavily, as if running this short distance had taken half his life.
"How are you? Are you alright?" Wang Xuefeng asked with concern.
"Hoo! Hoo! These people! How come they're like ghosts?! They're all so weird..." Jia Bo couldn't help but curse.
“Them?” Wang Xuefeng immediately grasped the key word.
“Yeah, there are at least several hundred strange people like those at the entrance, and I haven’t even seen them clearly yet!” Jia Bo felt a chill run down his spine just from mentioning it.
"They didn't do anything to you, did they?" Xiao He asked.
“No, I suspect they just want to starve me to death,” Jia Bo said through gritted teeth.
"Do you know where the other strange people went?" Xiao He asked again.
Jia Bo thought about it carefully: "There was a hole under that thick iron chain. Those strange men grabbed one end of the chain and jumped down one after another."
Upon hearing this, the two immediately frowned.
The most prominent characteristic of the Gray lineage is their great strength, but this refers to their ancestors, not their current descendants.
Annie Gray is a descendant of modern people, and even though he has awakened his powers, their purity is far inferior to that of his ancestors.
"So those strange people are resurrected ancient people?!" Xiao He exclaimed in shock.
Legend has it that their ancestors possessed immense strength, capable of splitting mountains and moving seas. They even pieced together the original continent of Nuojin.
However, it was eventually occupied by the Flying Dragon Clan, and it was only after countless tens of thousands of years that their descendants came to reclaim their territory with their ancestral teachings.
This led to the fierce war between humans and dragons in the early stages of this era.
"The continent of Nojin was created by the Gray family in ancient times. Now, Annie Gray is here, while the others are dragging a mysterious iron chain as they jump underground...?"
Xiao He carefully organized his thoughts.
"Could it be... that the recent changes on the mainland are related to them?!"
“That’s highly likely,” Wang Xuefeng replied.
"That bluebird deliberately lured us here..."
Xiao He didn't finish speaking, clearly still hesitant: "We can't just stand by and watch, can we?"
"Furthermore, if she can guess that we can guess what she's planning to do..."
"Then she must have known we would stop her."
"If she knows we will stop her, but leaves only one person here to wait for us, then she is condoning our obstruction."
"So...we can't stop it??"
After saying all that, Xiao He silently looked up at Wang Xuefeng.
"Does not stopping her mean you can stop her plan?" The latter winked mischievously, seemingly trying to play games with her.
"But if we stop her, wouldn't we become part of her plan?" Xiao He didn't dare to decide for the time being.
"But what if she guesses that we guessed her strategy and then bets that we won't stop her?" Wang Xuefeng laughed as he spoke.
"Then why did she lead us here?" Xiao He asked expressionlessly, his language system seemingly having given up the struggle.
Wang Xuefeng looked up into the distance: "If she is really that confident, then the only reason she would deliberately lure us here is... to show off."
Upon hearing this, Xiao He was somewhat taken aback.
"If it's gotten to the point where she can boast about it, does that mean the situation is beyond repair?" She felt a little thirsty.
