Chapter 41 Green River Town (Part 1)

Xiao He stood on Huo Lei's horse, his gaze following the silk threads through the lotus jade, guiding Huo Lei in the right direction.

He wanted to sit down, but "Xiao He" was so short and small that if Horry, who was so big, sat down behind her, he wouldn't be able to see anything.

"I feel like I've gone back to being eight years old," Xiao He suddenly complained.

"Isn't that great?" Horry laughed heartily. "With your appearance, you're perfect at playing dumb to fool others!"

"Pretending to be a pig is almost enough." Xiao He became depressed when he thought about how he almost got a game over.

"Hey, I heard about this from them too. What happened?" Horry said, "Really, if I hadn't heard them say there was a problem, I wouldn't have been able to get here so quickly!"

Xiao He shook his head and sighed, "I never expected that the world would change so drastically in just half a day."

"It's not a big problem. It's better than starting in hell right away. At least it gives us time to adapt, right?"

"If it were a hellish start, I probably wouldn't be so careless..." Xiao He looked at his undamaged hand, which was still a bloody mess last night.

He couldn't help but think of the person who started this whole thing.

What was his purpose? And why did he want to save himself? Was he an NPC in the "game"? Or a GM?

Whoever he is, given my current strength, I have no way of getting close to him.

To be blunt, this catastrophe was indeed a major disaster in the eyes of the natives of this world. But in the eyes of the five-person team that took the job, it seemed like a fast-track leveling-up specially arranged by the system.

No matter how real the world is, or how realistic the tactile sensation is, it cannot escape their definition of "Game".

"Just think of it as experiencing a game device from thousands of years in the future!" Horry laughed heartily.

The two chatted idly as they traveled upstream along the river.

"Wait a minute," Xiao He suddenly called out to him.

When Horae was alone, he didn't need to shout "Whoa!" to stop the horse whenever he wanted.

Xiao He leaped down and retrieved a shawl from the riverbank.

The shawl was brand new, just like the ones they had just given out.

The junior college students' capes have single bars along the edges, while the intermediate college students' capes have parallel bars.

Xiao He turned the shawl over and the element on it was marked "thunder".

"Oh, what a pity, we don't have this element, so we can't use it." Xiao He shook his head in disappointment.

Horry, standing nearby, blinked and asked curiously, "What's this? A school uniform?"

“Yes.” Xiao He had just taken a step when he felt his right foot step on something hard.

Looking down, I saw what appeared to be a piece of metal in the mud, and its shape seemed somewhat familiar.

"This is... the school badge?"

Xiao He was stunned for a moment, then casually washed himself in a puddle nearby.

Even the school badge is brand new.

"Who is it?" Horry asked casually.

Upon seeing the name, Xiao He's eyes widened in shock: "No way?!"

Horry was startled: "What do you mean, 'not'?"

On the back of the school badge in Xiao He's hand was a familiar name—Nan Bai.

"Holy crap! That chubby kid!!" Xiao He suddenly stood up.

"Which chubby kid?" Horry scratched his head. Of the five, only he could be called "chubby kid." Wasn't he right here?

"It's a friend of the account owner, and she even wanted to protect him... My God, I feel like I'm about to have to restart the game..." Xiao He slapped his forehead, feeling utterly hopeless.

"He's dead?" Horry raised an eyebrow.

Xiao He paused, then examined the shawl again. There was no damage or bloodstains, but the current situation was certainly not optimistic: "I'm afraid the worst is yet to come..."

“There’s nothing we can do about it, it’s all up to fate!” Horry said, turning his gaze to the winding upper reaches of the river.

The river isn't very clear, perhaps because it leads to the town, and often some household garbage floats down with the current.

“I have a feeling that old geezer is in Green River Town up ahead!” Horry narrowed his eyes, quite certain of his idea.
