"Just now, I lost to a metal car without a logo on Yunduan East Street."
"He used inertial drift to corner."
"His car is very fast."
"All I saw was a sign on the roof of the car advertising for workers at the Beihu Factory."
"If we knew who he was."
"Please tell him."
"I'll be waiting for him in the expedition team heading west of the city tomorrow for the hunt."
...
Xiao He pushed open the gate of Fiesburg like a gust of wind.
Dai Lele stopped the stopwatch at just the right moment: "You pass."
"Here...here you go..." Xiao He panted as he handed over what he was holding.
"Okay, let's go eat." Dai Lele took the bag and casually sent him away.
"Wait a minute—"
Xiao He's hair stood on end, and he immediately turned around: "Did you buy the wrong thing?"
“That’s right.” Dai Lele smiled with satisfaction.
However, Xiao He noticed something hidden in her eyes.
"What's wrong?"
Dai Lele opened her mouth, then sighed softly after a long while: "Let's step back for a bit first."
"Take a step back?" Xiao He was taken aback. "Back to the present world?"
"Um."
"good."
[Team: Dai Le'er is offline]
[Team: Xiaohe is offline]
Xiao He took off his headphones, rubbed his temples, and turned his head to see that Dai Lele had already left her seat.
"I just received a call from my dad's house." Dai Lele's expression was clearly not good as she explained to Xiao He while packing her things.
"Uncle Dai?" Xiao He was taken aback.
Dai Lele didn't seem to want to mention him, but she couldn't avoid making things clear to Xiao He.
"He's had another accident, I have to go there, the game will probably be offline for a while."
"I didn't want you to worry, so I just wanted to let you know. It's nothing serious, I should be back soon."
"Also, I've spoken to Instructor Honglian, and she said she'll find you replacements. You can decide for yourself then."
"Alright." Xiao He nodded: "Then you should take care of your uncle's matter first."
After saying that, the two fell silent.
Dai Lele and Xiao He are siblings, but they share the same mother but different fathers.
The "dad" she referred to was not Xiao He's father, but her own biological father—the one who had long since divorced her mother and, in principle, had no further connection with her.
After his mother divorced him, she married Xiao He's father and gave birth to his younger brother, Xiao He.
However, after the siblings' mother passed away, Dai Lele moved out on her own.
Xiao He chose his sister over his father, which led to the creation of this old house "studio".
This is Dai Lele's matter, and Xiao He has no right to advise her to give up on this hopeless biological father. He can only silently offer her some help.
"Take this card. The PIN is Mom's birthday." Xiao He took a bank card out of the drawer.
It's impossible for Dai Lele not to need money to resolve her father's issues.
But Dai Lele shook her head: "You need to go to the hospital for a blood transfusion and buy medicine. Keep the money for yourself, I have enough here."
"I'm fine," Xiao He said.
“Really, it’s not necessary.” Dai Lele paused, then added softly, “It’s just a funeral.”
"What?"
"Okay, that's it. I'll be right back."
After saying that, Dai Lele wiped her face and continued packing her things into her backpack.
Xiao He looked at her with concern: "Then I'll go with you."
“No, they don’t like you anyway, I’m fine,” Dai Lele insisted.
Xiao He could only nod helplessly: "Send me your location when you arrive, and call me if anything happens."
"Okay, I got it." Dai Lele quickly packed her things, picked up her coat from the chair and put it on, while putting on her backpack and shoes. "By the way, don't tell them about this."
"good."
Xiao He watched silently as she closed the door. After a series of footsteps descending the stairs, the room fell silent again.
Their childhoods were indeed not good, but they managed to get through them by finding joy in hardship.
"It's good for her to go out and clear her head..."
Xiao He sighed softly, turned around and went back to his computer, putting his headphones back on.
[System notification: Xiaohe is now online]
Each square grid is like a string of codes, eventually forming the shape of Xiao He.
In the Netherworld system, being offline is different from being in standby mode.
The latter will remain stationary, while the former will exit this world directly unless the account logs back into the system.
"Where did you two go?" Huo Lei was watching TV in the living room and noticed that only Xiao He was online. He asked in confusion, "Where's Sister Le?"
"She's out running some errands, so she won't be coming with us this time," Xiao He explained.
"Oh, okay." Horry nodded without thinking much of it. "Everything we need is in the warehouse. Check if anything is missing. If so, we can still prepare it now."
"Okay, I'll take a look in a bit," Xiao He replied casually.
-
The next day.
The sky was just beginning to lighten.
A deep and long horn sounded throughout Flying Dragon City.
The main road in the west of the city has been blocked off, and only students from Cloud Academy can pass through.
Beside an ordinary Buick, Xiao He installed the modification kit given to him by Yang Xing, but only Wang Xuefeng got into the car.
Because Horatio silently summoned his horse, which was said to have been repaired overnight using Netherworld Coins.
"Huh? There are only three of us?" Wang Xuefeng asked in surprise.
"I don't know. Instructor Honglian said she would make up the five-person groups for us." Horry scratched his head.
Looking around, all they saw were five people in each of their Black cars, lined up on the school road waiting to depart, but their group still had two vacancies.
