Chapter 8 Eating

Chapter 8 Eating

◎Leave early◎

Zhao Yan hesitated for a moment, his brows curved, and he said jokingly: "If I were your teacher, I would definitely reply: classmate, damn, damn." The fiery red sunset spread behind him, and the golden light floated, diluting his alienated feeling.

They had known each other for so long, but this was the first time Jiang Siyue saw him smile so happily. It was like spring snow melting and a gentle breeze blowing on her face.

After a moment, she came back to her senses and said in surprise: "You are exactly the same as what my linear algebra teacher said--" Her feet suddenly slipped, and she screamed and fell backwards. Zhao Yan's eyes flashed and he reached out to grab her.

All in vain.

Jiang Siyue fell into the green belt next to her. The snow was very thick. It didn't hurt, but the snow on the bushes fell down and landed on her. In a panic, she was pulled up by a hand.

Zhao Yan brushed the snow off her body with a stern face. Jiang Siyue chose to keep quiet and stood still. The snowflakes flowed down her neck and melted into water. She shivered in the cold.

Zhao Yan sighed deeply, let go of the suitcase, took out a tissue from his pocket, and wiped the snow water off her neck. "You're a grown-up now, calm down."

"Oh." Jiang Siyue agreed obediently.

The situation was handled in time and Jiang Siyue's body did not get wet. She didn't dare to do it again and took every step very carefully. But maybe it was because she had started it, she slipped every two steps. Fortunately, she was alert enough and was able to control herself in time.

Zhao Yan watched her movements from the side and sighed silently in his heart, thinking that her slip just now might not have been her fault.

After she stumbled again, Zhao Yan held her hand and led her forward without saying a word. Jiang Siyue looked at his stern face, thought for a moment, and decided to turn off the microphone.

She threw away the shoes when she got home!

The car drove steadily on the road. Snowflakes began to fall outside. Jiang Siyue observed Zhao Yan's expression with her peripheral vision. After stopping at a red light, Jiang Siyue pretended to look at the snow and asked, "Are you angry?"

Zhao Yan held the steering wheel and said, "No."

Jiang Siyue tilted her head to look at him and explained, "Actually, I'm not usually like this. I'm very steady. Today was an accident."

The green light came on, and the car in front started moving. Zhao Yan started behind it, not looking away, "Classmate, it's time to fall."

Jiang Siyue was stunned and didn't know how to respond. The way he spoke seriously about reduplication was not funny at all.

"There's a traffic jam ahead. If you're tired, take a break. I'll call you when we get there."

There was a long section marked in red on the navigation, and Jiang Siyue also saw it. She tilted her head and closed her eyes to rest. After a while, she fell into a deep sleep.

The car stopped in front of the villa. Zhao Yan unbuckled her seat belt and called her a few times. She still tilted her head with an unnatural blush on her cheeks. Zhao Yan's eyes flashed, and he quickly got out of the car, opened the passenger door, put his hand on her forehead, and after confirming that she didn't have a fever, his expression relaxed.

"We're here, wake up."

Jiang Siyue opened her eyes and faced Zhao Yan, who was bending over and looking at her.

Normally, Zhao Yan looked at everyone with aloofness, and because of his height, she seldom saw Zhao Yan's full face. But now, under the dim light, Jiang Siyue discovered that he had sharp eyebrows and bright eyes, and there was not a single blemish on his face. She also saw his skin care products at home, and he was really born with good skin.

"We're here, get out." Zhao Yan stood up straight. Jiang Siyue unbuckled her seatbelt and quickly got out of the car.

It was still daylight when they set out, but now it was completely dark. Following Zhao Yan into the villa, the snow in the yard was so heavy that one couldn't even step on the bottom. Zhao Yan naturally took her hand.

The meal was ordinary. Zhang Ying did not ask any tricky questions. She first asked about the hand injury and then asked about ordinary daily matters.

"Is Zhao Yan usually very quiet? He's so boring."

Jiang Siyue looked at Zhao Yan quietly. He ate slowly and without any reaction. It seemed that he was used to Zhang Ying's "depreciation". Jiang Siyue smiled slightly and said, "Not bad."

She didn't know why, but she was a little afraid of Zhao Yan, the same guilty feeling as a mouse seeing a cat.

"He's always been like that." Zhang Ying said disdainfully, "It's only others who follow his lead, not him who follows others. He used to be that—"

"Mr. Zhang," Zhao Yan finally spoke. "Old people like to talk about the past. You are still young."

Zhang Ying snorted coldly, but she couldn't do anything about him, feeling helpless. Jiang Siyue also guessed something from these fragments. Zhang Ying was about to mention Zhao Yan's ex-girlfriend, but Zhao Yan didn't let her mention it. Maybe he had some grudge?

But Jiang Siyue didn't care about it. Everyone has a past.

But this sudden chill in the atmosphere... Jiang Siyue thought for a moment and came up with a polite remark to deal with the parents: "Zhao Yan is doing very well. I like him very much."

Zhang Ying smiled immediately. Zhao Yan tilted his head to look at her, his eyes filled with ambiguous emotions. After a moment, he looked away.

After dinner, Zhao Yan seemed to have something to do, so Jiang Siyue sat alone on the rooftop enjoying the fresh air to help digest her food. When she felt less uncomfortable, she slowly went downstairs.

"What on earth do you think?"

Zhao Yunshan's voice came from the second floor. Jiang Siyue paused and went back upstairs.

"What will Siyue think if you get married without a wedding? How aggrieved will she be?!" Zhao Yunshan's voice was so loud that Jiang Siyue heard it clearly and stopped walking up the stairs.

"There's no need for me to tell a bunch of irrelevant people about my marital status." Zhao Yan's voice was extremely cold, without a trace of emotion. "I won't go to the wedding, you guys do it yourselves."

"If you don't let Siyue marry alone, who will she marry?" Zhao Yunshan was furious. Then there was the sound of something heavy dropping to the ground. "How could I have given birth to such an irresponsible son like you!"

"It's up to you how you interpret it." Zhao Yan said this and seemed to leave. A moment later, Zhang Ying's voice could be heard, comforting Zhao Yunshan. After all the other voices faded, Jiang Siyue quietly went downstairs.

The first floor was deserted, and Zhao Yan's car keys, which had been placed on the coffee table, had disappeared. Jiang Siyue grabbed her bag and walked out. Sure enough, the spot where Zhao Yan's car was parked was empty.

He left first.

She walked slowly forward along the road signs. Jiang Siyue didn't feel anything about Zhao Yan abandoning her, but the cold wind blowing on her face made her feel cold.

After a while, the phone rang. It was a message from Zhao Yan, saying that he had to leave early for something and asked him to stay in the villa for one night.

It had been a while since they left, and going back to explain would be troublesome. Most importantly, all the villas here looked the same, and she had no idea which one his was.

Ask him to pick me up… The moment this idea came to mind, it was rejected by Jiang Siyue. He was in a bad mood at the moment, so he should not cause trouble.

After replying "OK", Jiang Siyue clicked on the navigation and continued walking.

This villa area is really big, the signal is bad, and there is a delay in the map. She walked around for a long time but couldn't get out. She kicked the green belt on the side of the road in frustration.

"Wang! Wangwang! Wangwangwang..."

A burst of rapid and sharp dog barking exploded in her ears. It was pitch black all around and she had no idea where the dog was. Jiang Siyue's scalp went numb and goose bumps stood up all over her body. She lowered her head and walked forward silently.

The barking of the dog became more rapid and closer. She spread her legs and started running. Then she heard the dog running after her and the sound of hitting the iron net.

Jiang Siyue broke out in a cold sweat, and the image of the dog knocking her down flashed uncontrollably in her mind.

"Help..." Jiang Siyue looked around and ran forward with all her strength.

Zhao Yan stood not far away, saw her but was unsure, and called her name loudly: "Jiang Siyue!"

Jiang Siyue's feet were as fast as the wind, and she didn't care about anything else. She was suddenly bumped into someone's arms. She trembled all over and tried to break free but was held tightly.

"It's me, Zhao Yan."

Jiang Siyue looked up, her eyes blurred with tears.

Zhao Yan frowned, a trace of guilt rising in his eyes, and he hugged her and walked back slowly. The barking of the dog became louder, and Jiang Siyue shuddered violently and hugged Zhao Yan tightly.

"Don't shoot, don't be afraid." Zhao Yan held her hand and gently patted her back with his other hand. He bent down and whispered in her ear, "There's a fence. It won't come out. Don't be afraid..."

After returning home, Jiang Siyue felt that she was slowly coming back to her senses.

Zhao Yan poured her a cup of hot water, looked at her pale face, and apologized, "I'm sorry, I was inconsiderate."

Jiang Siyue took a few seconds to react before tilting her head, forcing a smile and shaking her head. "It's none of your business. It's just that the dog is too scary."

Zhao Yan stared at her closely and said, "If this happens again, call me." He was also angry today and drove away on impulse. Later, when he sent a message to Zhang Ying, he found out that Jiang Siyue was not in the villa.

Jiang Siyue bit her lip, looked at him for a moment, and nodded, "Okay." Whether to call or not was another matter, but she really didn't want to be scared by the dog again.

This day was extremely exciting. Jiang Siyue fell asleep as soon as she lay down. Zhao Yan came out of the shower after washing the dishes. She curled up in a small ball on the bed. She had an unknown nightmare. Her injured right hand had grabbed the quilt so hard that it was deformed.

“…”

Zhao Yan lay down beside her, gently pried open her fingers, and after turning off the bedside lamp, Jiang Siyue squeezed next to him, holding his hand tightly with all her might.

"Hiss—so you were waiting for me here?" Zhao Yan teased softly. After making sure that it was not the injured hand that had "taken revenge", he ignored her.

Jiang Siyue was absolutely determined to change her advisor. If Zhang Min'an disagreed, she would report the thesis. Even if this meant she couldn't move forward in the North China economic circle, she had to create some trouble for Zhang Min'an.

Fortunately, Zhang Min'an agreed readily. Jiang Siyue initially thought that he was feeling guilty about "stealing the paper", but later found out that this was not the case.

Zhang Min'an seemed to have spread something to other tutors in the academy, resulting in no one being willing to accept him.

Just say it! Zhang Min'an had no idea what guilt was.

After being rejected again, Jiang Siyue left the teacher's office. She had searched almost every tutor in the academy, but she refused to give up. She checked every official website and finally found the one who was elusive.

Teacher Gao Jianjun is retiring soon. Jiang Siyue dutifully sent the email, but a few days later, when she met Teacher Gao and heard that he had agreed to accept her, she almost burst into tears.

Knowing her reason for changing advisors, Gao Jianjun lamented, "The topic you're currently working on is completely incompatible with my direction. Plus, I'm almost retired, so I don't have the energy to work with you. I have a former student at the University of Finance and Economics who's also working on the intersection of economics and psychology. You should look for him in the future. You know what joint training programs are? They're similar in nature."

"No problem!" Jiang Siyue nodded repeatedly.

"Don't be too happy too soon." Gao Jianjun sounded the alarm for her, "He's very strict. Don't embarrass me when you go there."

"I promise not to!" Jiang Siyue raised her finger and swore.
