Chapter 679 The Vanished Planet!

The chaos in the laboratory gradually subsided.

Instead, there was a deathly silence.

Milo and Malen lay silently on the cold ground, their eyes filled with incredibly complex expressions.

"The verification results are in."

Mullen broke the deathly silence in the laboratory by speaking first: "The detector is fine."

“The calculation results are also correct,” Milo replied listlessly.

"In other words, the star system we were observing has suddenly lost a planet!" Mullen said, somewhat frantically. "This, this is a planet!! How could this happen?!"

Milo was silent for a moment, then said in a low voice:

"This is definitely not something that happened naturally."

"Nonsense! How could such a thing happen under natural conditions?!" Maren cursed irritably.

Suddenly, Milo stood up abruptly and, controlling the assist device, staggered toward the laboratory door.

"Where are you going?!" Maren shouted.

"Go and remind the leader!"

Milo's shouts were filled with anxiety and unease: "The fleet needs to change course immediately!"

...

Inside the command center.

"leader!"

A sharp, urgent chirping sound came from afar, attracting the attention of a creature standing in the very center of the command center.

"What happened?!" it asked the newcomer in the same high-pitched voice.

"No, this is terrible!"

As the hurried Talodan rushed over, he shouted, frantically trying to control the power-up device to stop his forward momentum.

Bang.

Clearly, it failed.

Having lived in a gravity environment for a long time, it is not very good at operating these assistive devices in a zero-gravity environment.

Due to inertia, the Talodan was thrown onto the deck in front of the Talodan leader.

Its rounded body served as the best protective cushion.

However, falling in a weightless environment is definitely a dangerous activity.

Seeing that it was about to drift away, the leader of Talodan quickly stretched out his tiny paws and caught the ball beside him.

"Activate your stabilization device, Milo!" Chief Talodan said with a headache. "Luckily, you're just a scientist, otherwise..."

It couldn't even imagine the scene of a commander collapsing onto the deck on the battlefield.

That scene was truly unbearable to look at!

"Thank you, Your Excellency Aldan."

With the stabilization device activated, Milo stood steadily on the deck. It bowed to the leader of Talodan in front of it, respectfully expressing its gratitude.

"Alright, alright, let's not worry about formalities at a time like this." Chief Aldan interrupted Milo's actions and asked directly, "What happened?"

"Have those damned invaders caught up again?"

"Damn it!" it said, waving its short claws fiercely. "Our fleet has been reduced by 80%!"

"Since we're going to die anyway, we might as well fight them!"

“No, it’s not invaders,” Milo said, waving his paws repeatedly. “It was our detectors that detected the anomaly!”

"A detector?" A hint of doubt appeared in Aldan's eyes. "What detector?"

“Have you forgotten? When we were on the run, we sent out hundreds of probes to our target star system,” Milo reminded us in a high-pitched voice. “These probes were there to help us scout out the conditions of various star systems beforehand.”

Aldan suddenly realized, and a look of excitement and anticipation appeared in his eyes.

"you mean……"

"The probe has discovered a habitable star system?"

"No!" Milo denied the leader's words again.

Deep within its eyes, a profound fear filled the air: "The probe has transmitted a terrifying discovery!"

Its body trembled slightly, and it said again, "A planet has vanished!"

"The planet disappeared?" Aldan looked at the scientist in front of him with some confusion. "How could a planet just disappear out of nowhere?"

"I...I don't know..."

Milona's round body trembled violently: "The probe is still 4 light-years away from the target star system. Our observation methods are insufficient to directly observe such a distant planet."

"We can only estimate the distribution of planets within a star system through various means."

"Just now, we received an anomaly in the observation data!"

“It’s clearly an anomaly!” Milo emphasized again.

It took a deep breath to calm its panic: "Originally, we calculated that there should be 6 planets in that star system."

"But based on the abnormal data we just received, we discovered that that star system only has 5 planets left!"

“One is missing…” Aldan gazed thoughtfully at Milo in front of him.

After a moment's hesitation, it asked softly, "Do you think this is an error in observation and calculation, or..."

"No, no, no, it's definitely not a mistake in observation or calculation!" Milo frantically waved his little paws, repeatedly denying the leader's words.

"I think there's only one possibility."

"An advanced civilization exists within that star system!"

Milo looked directly at the leader and spoke, word by word.

"hiss……"

Aldan gasped, and his round body began to tremble slightly.

"To be able to destroy a planet directly, what level of civilization is that..." Aldan's tone was full of confusion. "Is there really no safe star system in this universe?"

Their race has always cherished peace.

For the Talodan civilization, war has always been an extremely distant concept.

Therefore, their lack of war experience and weaponry led to their decline in this war.

It was this war that ruthlessly shattered their illusions about the universe.

Having lost 80% of its fleet, the Talodan civilization now views extraterrestrial civilizations with the same skepticism one would show to a viper, fearing even the slightest possible taint.

Behind them, the invading fleet was relentlessly pursuing them.

Ahead lies an unknown, advanced civilization.

It appears that the Talodan civilization is in dire straits.

“Chief, at this point, we have no choice but to change our target,” Milo said in a heavy voice. “There are hundreds of star systems of all sizes in the star field ahead of us.”

"Please order the fleet to change course!"

"I have selected another star system for you that may have habitable planets!"

As he spoke, Milo pressed a few keys on the computer next to him, and a brand new flight path appeared on the star map.

Chief Aldan remained silent for a moment.

Then, it let out a long sigh: "Send the order to change the fleet's course!"
