The person who entered the study was a girl of about thirteen or fourteen years old. When she saw Ye Chen sitting there, she immediately widened her eyes with curiosity, looking timid and somewhat shy.
Ye Chen looked at her with some surprise. He had heard that President Ma seemed to have a daughter, but President Ma's daughter was already in her twenties. This young girl's age didn't match up.
However, the fact that she can freely enter and leave the study suggests that she must have a close relationship with Mr. Ma. Could she be his hidden second daughter, or some other relative?
"Brother, are you playing Go?"
Suddenly noticing the expectant look in front of Ye Chen, the little girl's eyes lit up, and she asked with some joy.
"Yes."
Ye Chen nodded.
"I was halfway downstairs with Mr. Ma when he went to take care of something and hasn't come back yet."
The young girl walked over and sat in the seat that Mr. Ma had just occupied, looking at the chessboard.
"Can I continue playing with you?"
After watching for about ten seconds, the little girl asked expectantly.
"good."
Ye Chen nodded. He was just idling around here anyway, so he might as well continue.
This young lady has a special relationship with Mr. Ma, and I doubt Mr. Ma would mind.
The little girl was very excited after Ye Chen agreed.
Picking up the chess piece, the little girl seemed like a different person; she was no longer shy, but rather remarkably calm.
Snap!
After thinking for more than ten seconds, the young girl made her move.
Ye Chen continued.
After playing for only a few minutes, Ye Chen sighed inwardly. He had to admit that this little girl's chess skills seemed to be a bit better than Boss Ma's; she was a Go prodigy.
Unfortunately, she was still not strong enough in front of Ye Chen.
In the end, the young girl was defeated by Ye Chen.
Seeing the girl's confused expression, Ye Chen offered her some pointers.
Just then, an elderly man in his sixties with silver hair walked in.
When the silver-haired old man entered, he noticed Ye Chen instructing the young girl, and his expression changed slightly.
Noticing the arrival of the silver-haired old man, the little girl wanted to greet him, but was stopped by the old man.
The silver-haired old man gestured to the little girl that she could continue listening, as if he hadn't come.
The silver-haired old man walked to the side, observing the chess game as he listened to Ye Chen's explanation.
"Brother, what you said is different from what the teacher said."
When Ye Chen mentioned a crucial point, the little girl suddenly spoke up.
"Young man, you're mistaken."
The silver-haired old man spoke with unwavering conviction; it turned out he was the little girl's Go teacher.
"I was wrong?"
Ye Chen countered with a question.
"Of course, young man, you still have a lot to learn. This place should be like this..."
The silver-haired elder offered guidance to Ye Chen from the perspective of an expert and senior.
"I feel like you're the one in the wrong."
After listening to the silver-haired old man finish speaking, Ye Chen shook his head.
"I was wrong. Humph, I am a director of the Chinese Go Association and have studied this art for decades. How could I be wrong?"
The silver-haired old man displayed his seniority and did not believe the words of Ye Chen, a junior.
"There is no order of precedence in learning; those who are accomplished are given priority. One cannot judge knowledge by age."
Ye Chen retorted.
The silver-haired old man was amused by Ye Chen's words.
"In Go, it is true that those who have mastered the game come first, but if you want to surpass me, you are still a long way off."
"Since you are not convinced, then I will show you through this duel that seniority and strength are closely related."
The silver-haired old man had a serious expression, preparing to teach Ye Chen, this impudent junior, a lesson.
Upon hearing this, the little girl first tidied up the chess pieces, then stood up, stood aside, and offered her seat to the silver-haired old man.
The silver-haired old man sat down and began playing chess with Ye Chen.
At first, the silver-haired old man played chess flawlessly, proving himself to be a top-level Go player.
"Young man, if you want to beat me, you'd better go back and study for another few decades."
The silver-haired old man smiled broadly and kept giving Ye Chen pointers.
Ye Chen didn't speak, but the chess piece suddenly landed in a place the silver-haired old man never expected.
With Ye Chen's move, the entire chessboard underwent a dramatic transformation.
The smile on the silver-haired old man's face froze instantly.
Snap!
After pondering for several minutes, the silver-haired old man finally made his move with difficulty.
Snap!
Ye Chen looked at it for a few seconds and then placed his piece.
Now it's the turn of the elderly with silver hair.
A series of footsteps approached; Mr. Ma had finished dealing with some business and rushed back.
Noticing Ye Chen playing chess with the silver-haired old man, Boss Ma also curiously came over.
"I concede defeat..."
The silver-haired old man pondered for a long time, then gave up his chess piece and conceded defeat.
“Young man, you are right—there is no order of learning, only those who are accomplished. I was just being presumptuous and valuing seniority too much. I apologize to you.”
The silver-haired old man stood up and sincerely apologized to Ye Chen.
"You're too kind, sir."
Upon hearing this, Ye Chen politely replied that the two only had disagreements on chess techniques and had no other conflicts.
Beside him, Mr. Ma was utterly shocked to see Ye Chen defeat the silver-haired old man.
This silver-haired old man was a Go master he had invited; his skill level was among the top in the entire country.
Now, he was actually defeated by President Ye. President Ye is so young, still a student, yet he has already achieved such terrifying success in Go. He couldn't help but be shocked.
Looking at Ye Chen, President Ma sighed inwardly. Ye Chen was not only so capable in the business world, but also had terrifying skills in Go. Even he was a little envious.
Mr. Ye has a bright future ahead of him, and he is much better than I was when I was young.
