"By the way, Lao Cao, you have to come with me to Shanghai to invite him."
Hu Jingtong looked at another vice president, Cao Jia'an, and said something specifically.
Hu Jingtong's words immediately stopped the group of people who were about to leave in their tracks.
"Old Hu, what did you say? You want me to go to Shanghai with you to invite him?!"
Cao Jia'an was furious. He could tolerate making this newcomer the deputy secretary-general, but now he was being asked, as the vice president, to personally go to Shanghai to invite him. Who did he think he was?
"This was specifically said by the chairman."
Hu Jingtong spoke.
Cao Jia'an stood there, lost in thought.
The Qingtan Chamber of Commerce is different from other ordinary chambers of commerce. The entire chamber of commerce is not a one-man show by the president. Those who can join the chamber of commerce, especially those who become high-level members, have extraordinary backgrounds and identities. They are easy to talk to in normal times, but when a big event occurs, who is afraid of whom?
Therefore, the entire Qingtan Chamber of Commerce is divided into many factions. The president cannot control the entire chamber of commerce. Hu Jingtong and the president belong to one faction, but Cao Jia'an belongs to another faction. Their strength is not much weaker than that of the president. The previous president was from their faction.
"Okay, I agree."
Suddenly, Cao Jia'an spoke.
It wasn't that he was bowing down and afraid to offend the president; rather, he was curious about the newcomer and wanted to see just who this person was!
"Alright, let's set off for Shanghai today."
Hu Jingtong nodded.
Half an hour later, Hu Jingtong and Cao Jia'an boarded a private plane bound for Shanghai.
In Shanghai, Ye Chen also received a report from his employees that someone from Beijing wanted to see him.
People in the capital want to see me?
He doesn't seem to know anyone in the capital.
"Let them go to the Bulgari Hotel."
Ye Chen replied that he happened to have something to do at the Bulgari Hotel in Shanghai, so he would just meet them while he was there.
When it was almost time, Ye Chen drove to the Bulgari Hotel in Shanghai.
Because Ye Chen arrived a little earlier than the others, he went into the Bulgari Hotel to meet with the hotel manager and find out how the hotel's business had been recently.
A little while later, Hu Jingtong and Cao Jia'an, who had just come out of the airport, also arrived in front of the Bulgari Hotel.
"Old Cao, when you see Ye Chen later, try to be polite."
After getting off the bus, Hu Jingtong said something specifically.
"Be polite?"
Cao Jia'an sneered inwardly. Just because of this so-called elite of Shanghai, he, the vice president of the Qingtan Chamber of Commerce, had wasted his time and gone through the trouble of flying all the way to Shanghai to invite him.
Who is Ye Chen?
Cao Jia'an was feeling annoyed. How could he possibly give Ye Chen a pleasant look when they met later?!
I'll see how I can teach Ye Chen a lesson and show him what rules are.
Even if Ye Chen becomes the deputy secretary-general, so what? He can't compare to me. He's just my subordinate as the vice president. Let's see how I deal with him.
Cao Jia'an did not give a direct answer, but instead walked quickly toward the Bulgari Hotel.
After taking only a few steps, Cao Jia'an suddenly spotted a familiar faceāHou Tianhua, the current president of Hilton International Hotels Group's Greater China region.
"Old Hou, what are you doing here?"
Cao Jia'an went over to say hello.
"Hey, Mr. Cao, aren't you in Beijing? What brings you to Shanghai?"
Hou Tianhua was also surprised.
This Mr. Cao is very powerful; even he has to be very polite to him.
"I... I have something to do."
Cao Jia'an did not give a direct answer. He had come to Shanghai in person to ask for help; how could he tell others about something so embarrassing?
"And you?"
"I also have some things to attend to. All the senior executives in our group are having a meeting, and I'm waiting for them to arrive."
Hou Tianhua explained.
For Hou Tianhua to personally greet them, they must be the highest-ranking executives of Hilton International Hotels Group. Why would these foreigners travel all the way to Shanghai for a group meeting?!
This doesn't make sense.
Cao Jia'an was very puzzled.
Hu Jingtong came over, and since both of them had things to do, they exchanged a few simple pleasantries and then parted ways.
Upon entering the Bulgari Hotel, Hu Jingtong and Cao Jia'an found no one to welcome them. Cao Jia'an's expression darkened again; this Ye Chen really didn't know any manners.
Left with no other option, Cao Jia'an had his assistant ask the front desk staff before taking the elevator to a small conference room at the Bulgari Hotel.
A few minutes later, the two finally met Ye Chen.
Both of them were shocked by Ye Chen's age. Ye Chen was too young. Even if he wasn't a student, he must have just graduated.
"Hu Jingtong, Vice President of the Qingtan Chamber of Commerce".
Hu Jingtong greeted Ye Chen politely.
Cao Jia'an, on the other hand, swaggered onto the sofa, lit a cigar, and spoke dismissively:
"Cao Jia'an, Vice President of the Qingtan Chamber of Commerce."
Why should he be polite to his future subordinates?
Ye Chen had a good impression of Hu Jingtong, but not of Cao Jia'an.
"What brings you two here?"
Ye Chen asked, explaining that he had a group meeting with Hilton's senior management later and didn't have much time.
Previously, Ye Chen had acquired the entire Hilton International Hotel Group, but video conferencing had always been inconvenient.
So Ye Chen directly ordered these executives to come to Shanghai. He wanted to hold an offline meeting to reshuffle the entire group's senior management, announce future work tasks, and so on. Since they were all his employees, he could come however was convenient for him. He couldn't very well ask the boss to personally go abroad.
