"My master or my father?"
Upon hearing this question, Ye Chen raised an eyebrow and slowly spoke:
“My father doesn’t know calligraphy, and as for a teacher, I don’t have one.”
My father doesn't know calligraphy, and he doesn't even have a teacher?!
Ye Chen's answer was something that no one present had expected.
At first, because they thought Ye Chen couldn't do calligraphy, or that his calligraphy level was very poor, not even at the lowest level, everyone assumed that Ye Chen's father or master, even if not a powerful figure like the secretary-general or deputy secretary-general of the China Calligraphers Association, should at least be a director.
But now Ye Chen is telling them that his father doesn't know calligraphy and doesn't even have a teacher. How could this be?
Everyone wore expressions of confusion, feeling utterly astonished and bewildered.
"Young man, which of your elders is a member of the China Calligraphers Association?"
The round-faced girl asked again, albeit tactfully. What she really wanted to know was—who brought you in from the China Calligraphers Association, and who your backer is.
However, asking such a question would seem impolite and inappropriate, so the round-faced girl spoke more tactfully.
"I have no elders who are members of the China Calligraphers Association."
Ye Chen shook his head, denying it again.
Ye Chen's words once again surprised everyone. He had no backing in the China Calligraphers Association, so how did he get in?
No, wait a minute. Could it be that he sneaked in quietly while there were so many people, or disguised himself as a junior member of some association and followed that member in when they weren't looking?
The tall boy couldn't help but speculate. After thinking for a long time, only these two answers seemed reasonable. As for whether Ye Chen had entered because of his own reasons, neither the tall boy nor the people around him considered that possibility.
Ye Chen was about the same age as them. After all, you can't expect a student to have the same thoughts and ideas as a teacher. The people present all had powerful backers; they were fortunate enough to enter the conference because they were with their fathers, masters, or other elders.
Ye Chen then told them that he had no elders in the China Calligraphers Association, which was very unusual.
The round-faced girl completely lost interest in Ye Chen and stopped paying attention to him. Others who had been paying attention to Ye Chen also shook their heads and looked away from him. They felt that such a person was not worth their special attention.
Beside Ye Chen, the tall boy wore a disdainful and mocking expression.
"that........"
The tall boy looked at Ye Chen meaningfully and said:
"I don't care how you got in, but I don't think you're qualified to sit here, especially next to me. Now, either you move to the side yourself and don't sit with us."
"Or I could call the security personnel here and have them kick you out."
Hearing the tall boy's intense tone, the others turned their gazes over again, looking on with amusement.
"If I were you, I would walk away and go to the side. I'm too lazy to ask the staff to come over."
"It's better for us all if you leave on your own. If you..."
The tall boy crossed his arms and gave a commanding order from a superior position.
However, before the tall boy could finish speaking, a voice suddenly interrupted him.
“Vice President Ye, so you’ve been here all along! We’ve been looking for you for ages.”
The tall boy was displeased to hear someone interrupt him. He already considered himself the leader of this small group, and it was very inappropriate for someone to interrupt him while he was speaking!
The tall boy suddenly turned his head, wanting to scold the person who interrupted him, but when he saw who it was, his expression changed drastically.
"Secretary-General Zhang?!"
The tall boy greeted him with trepidation.
Secretary General?!
After learning the identity of the newcomer from the tall boy, the round-faced girl and the others immediately became serious.
This person is actually the secretary-general of the calligraphy association?!
These are truly important figures to them.
Most of these people were attending the China Calligraphers Association's conference for the first time. Apart from a few people who were familiar with their fathers or teachers, they didn't know any of the other members of the association, since they were not at that level.
"Secretary-General Zhang, what brings you here?"
Because his father was one of the deputy secretaries-general of the China Calligraphers Association, the tall boy recognized the visitor and quickly inquired about his identity.
This is where the younger generation stays. What is the Secretary-General of the China Calligraphers Association doing here? It doesn't suit his status.
Could there be a descendant of Secretary Zhang here?
"I'm here to see Vice President Ye, you don't need to worry about me."
Secretary-General Zhang replied, and then he walked past the group and respectfully approached Ye Chen.
Vice President Ye?!
Upon hearing Secretary Zhang's address to Ye Chen, the tall boy, the round-faced girl, and the others were all dumbfounded.
Vice President, is this young man the vice president of the Huaxia Calligraphers Association?
My God, is this real?!
This person, roughly the same age as them, is actually an unapproachable super-big shot, the vice president of the China Calligraphers Association?!
Unbelievable, absolutely unbelievable.
The tall boy and the others were so frightened that they couldn't utter a word.
“Vice President Ye, President, I asked you to come here. I searched all over the place and finally found you here. With your status, how can you sit with these juniors?”
Secretary-General Zhang spoke.
"I was invited here by the greeters, and I've been here the whole time."
Ye Chen answered.
"Oh, I guess the welcoming staff saw that you were too young and mistook you for someone's junior, so they invited you here. Vice President Ye, I'm so sorry, it was my oversight."
Secretary-General Zhang repeatedly apologized to Ye Chen.
"Your seat has been arranged in the first row, right next to the president. Please follow me."
Secretary-General Zhang quickly corrected the mistake.
"Um."
Ye Chen got up and walked ahead.
Secretary-General Zhang was about to chase after Ye Chen when he suddenly remembered something and immediately stopped.
