Chapter 23 Illusion

The woman stood there motionless, her eyes vacant. After two seconds, she spoke mechanically:

"Would you like something to drink, sir?"

The woman spoke in English, but when her voice reached Lin Yu's ears, it was automatically translated into Chinese. In this respect, the copy was quite thoughtful.

Lin Yu frowned, continuing to probe the woman while asking her questions:

"Tell me your name? What happened here? Where is the performance being held?"

The woman spoke mechanically as before: "Sir, would you like something to drink?"

The electronic eye on Lin Yu's shoulder spun around, and the results of its investigation were in:

Name/Occupation: Living Dead.

Level: LV8. Other: Unknown.

Lin Yu silently sheathed his sword: "Hello, sister! Goodbye, sister!"

The woman slightly raised her head, gazing at Lin Yu, her empty eyes flashing with a green light:

"Would you like something to drink, sir?"

It's just this one sentence over and over again, but the more it's repeated, the more chilling it becomes!

Lin Yu's eyes met hers, and in that instant, as if struck by lightning, a powerful spiritual energy enveloped him, and the scenery around Lin Yu completely changed.

Lin Yu found himself in a theater, a member of the audience.

Looking up, there was a brightly lit stage in front of me, and a girl in a gothic dress stood in the center of the stage. Multiple spotlights shone on her, making her skin look crystal clear.

The girl was pure, beautiful, and dignified, like an elf in the night. Everyone else on the stage seemed to be just her foil.

Lin Yu heard the audience screaming: "Elisa! Elisa! Elisa!"

The audience went crazy for the girl; this stage belonged only to her!

To Lin Yu's surprise, he saw a familiar figure in the corner of the stage—the blonde woman behind the bar.

Before he could think any further, the scenery around him changed rapidly.

It was the same theater, and the same girl in a gothic dress. The difference was that this time, the girl's eyes were lifeless, her face expressionless, and a halo of eerie green light floated above her head.

But as the girl raised her hand, a ghostly green light rippled outwards, enveloping each person.

A piercing wail echoed in all directions. All those enveloped in the light died in agony. Their skin gradually turned dark gray, their pupils turned deathly white, sharp teeth grew in their mouths, and their fingernails grew long and black...

Their bodies turned into gray-skinned monsters!

Their souls, however, transformed into hideous and vengeful spirits, drifting in mid-air.

Lin Yu heard the audience screaming: "Elisa! She's a devil! She's a devil!"

Lin Yu was stunned.

Could it be that this is how the monsters in this dungeon came to be?

Lin Yu felt that this was likely the breakthrough he was looking for, but at that moment, he sensed danger.

The eerie green light quickly engulfed the entire theater, and everyone turned into monsters. They roared madly, and finally, they all stared at Lin Yu.

The heads of the vengeful spirits floating in mid-air also turned to look at Lin Yu.

The next instant, the gray-skinned monster and the vengeful spirits surged toward Lin Yu like a tidal wave.

Lin Yu felt a chill run down his spine. Although it was all just an illusion, in a sense, dying in the illusion was no different from dying in real life!

We must find a way to break through this illusion!

Lin Yu had a clear mind; he knew that the key to breaking through this illusion lay with the blonde woman.

However, after searching for a while, Lin Yu was devastated to find that he could not find the blonde woman at all. Apart from Elisa in the center of the stage, everyone else had turned into monsters!

Lin Yu had no choice but to raise his longsword and slay the attacking monster.

"Pfft! Pfft! Pfft!" Blood and limbs splattered everywhere. The illusion was incredibly realistic. Lin Yu felt as if he were really fighting a large group of monsters. The outcome was predictable.

Not long after, Lin Yu was swallowed up by the monster.

Just when Lin Yu thought he was about to die, a mechanical voice rang in his ear:

"Would you like something to drink, sir?"

Lin Yu was overjoyed, thinking to himself: There's hope!

However, the illusion did not disappear. Lin Yu was dumbfounded. Monsters came at him, tearing off his arms and disemboweling him...

Lin Yu endured extreme pain, and his spirit became weak and listless.

If I don't find a way to escape this illusion, I'm going to die!

Lin Yu pondered deeply, trying to recall the blonde woman's words: "Sir, would you like something to drink?"

Perhaps answering her question would allow me to leave, but is there really a standard answer to this question?

etc!

At that moment, Lin Yu suddenly remembered a sentence in the audience notice: "[Audience members may bring cola and popcorn into the theater, but please do not consume them.]"

The theater here might not refer to a real theater, but rather an illusion!

"I want a Coke!" Lin Yu said weakly.

In an instant, the monsters that were tearing at him and the vengeful spirits that were lunging at him all vanished, along with the girl in the gothic dress and the entire theater.

Lin Yu's eyes flickered, and he returned to the bar.

Lin Yu gasped for breath. The pain in his body had disappeared, but his mind was still buzzing, as if he had just woken up from a nightmare.

Lin Yu looked at the blonde woman behind the bar with some apprehension.

At that moment, the woman smiled and handed him a glass of cola.

"Here's your Coke, sir."

"Thank you." Lin Yu forced a smile.

If Lin Yu hadn't thought he was most likely no match for this living dead, he would have already killed him!
