Chapter 196 The Mystery of the Ten Rabbits (Part Two)
The rabbit with the note that says "Are you the fifth rabbit?" has crosses in its eyes, giving it a deathly expression.
The sixth rabbit looked resentful, the seventh rabbit had even more sweat on its face, the eighth rabbit looked calm, the ninth rabbit was shedding tears, and the tenth rabbit looked sorrowful.
The rabbits were all damaged to roughly the same degree: the threads were torn, the limbs were ripped, or the fabric was cut by a knife.
"Koide-kun, did you arrange them in order?" Conan turned to look at Koide Ryoko, who seemed a little dazed.
Ryoko Koide nodded. "Yes, I placed them in the order they were sent."
Conan nodded upon hearing this. "Everyone, let's check if there's a note inside the rabbit!"
As he spoke, he picked up the first rabbit, unzipped it, and began rummaging through it.
Seeing this, the others also went to rummage through the cotton inside the rabbit doll.
"There's a note inside the three rabbits!"
"There's a toy syringe inside the second rabbit!"
"There's a toy shovel inside the Seven Rabbits!"
"There's a note inside the four rabbits."
There was nothing inside the six rabbits.
"There are notes inside the eight rabbits too!"
"There is a heart inside the nine rabbits."
"There are also slips of paper inside the ten rabbits."
After taking the contents out of the rabbits, they labeled each one with the number of rabbits in which it was found before putting them together.
The note inside the third rabbit plush toy reads: "Did you really buy medicine to cure your illness?"
The fourth note read: "Why did you poison the medicine?"
The eighth note read: "Why did you fill the pit so tightly?"
The tenth note reads: "When the sun rises, all sadness and fear will disappear, and you will gain eternal happiness."
Except for the tenth note, all the other notes ended with a question mark, and the content of the last note was really strange.
"These toy syringes, shovels, and hearts are so tiny! No wonder I couldn't feel them when I picked them up," Mitsuhiko said in surprise, holding the syringe that was only as thick as a finger.
"So the sender did indeed send the rabbit to Koide-kun according to that nursery rhyme?" Ai Haibara asked calmly from the side.
"But what is his purpose? Koide is just an elementary school student, he couldn't possibly do anything. Could it be Koide's parents?" Mitsuhiko guessed, stroking his chin.
He then received a glance from Ryoko Koide.
He immediately snapped to attention, waving his hands and explaining, "Haha, I'm not doubting your parents! Just guessing, guessing!"
"By the way, Machi, could you write down that nursery rhyme?" Conan looked up at Machi Kawasaki.
“Okay.” Kawasaki Machi nodded, then took out paper and pen and wrote down the whole nursery rhyme.
Conan then looked at Ryoko Koide and asked, "Can you tell us about your parents?"
"My parents?" Ryoko Koide blinked in confusion, then lowered her head and pondered for a moment after seeing Conan nod. "Actually, I don't know my parents very well... because they rarely come over, so we asked Aunt Yoshiko Matsui to take care of me..."
"Huh—?" Ayumi and the other two turned to look at her in surprise. "Don't your parents live with you?"
Ryoko Koide shook her head. "They all chose to live closer to the company because of their work, and they only come here for a short stay when they have free time. Usually, it's Aunt Matsui and me who live here."
