Chapter 20 He was not a person who craved pleasure.
"All right……"
Ran and Conan could almost picture a dog with its head drooping, looking pitiful.
"I remember it was a little boy's name. It seems that Dr. Ogawa saw him on February 19th, three years ago."
Behringer remained squatting beside Conan, resting his chin on his hand as he pondered.
Upon hearing this, Conan's eyes widened, and a brilliant idea flashed in his mind.
Could it be that the letter meant...?
He abruptly turned to look at Ran Mouri, whose face was flushed and who was lost in thought. "Ran! Quickly, bring Dr. Ogawa here! Hurry!"
Behringer's eyes widened slightly as he looked at Conan in surprise.
So you're not even going to pretend anymore because of the case?
Where did Shinichi Kudo, who was just desperately trying to hide it, go?
Coming to her senses, Ran Mouri looked at Conan. She paused for a moment, then quickly ran to bring Dr. Ogawa and Kogoro Mouri over.
After learning the whole story, the group realized what had happened. After failing to contact Tomoya's kindergarten, Conan was the first to run out of the hospital.
Behringer, lagging behind, followed with a blank expression and a helpless look.
Running is a form of exercise that he enjoys, but he is not someone who craves pleasure.
The group ran to a bridge, and Dr. Ogawa saw the child and the man on the road below. His pupils instantly contracted.
"That's Yuuta!"
The man standing behind the child gradually raised the large knife in his hand and pointed it at Yuta.
Bechfenger glanced at the stunned group and sighed inwardly. He turned to the children playing soccer, walked over to them, and said with an expression that even children couldn't refuse, "Excuse me, could I borrow this ball for a moment? I'll trade you candy for it, okay?"
The boy who caught the ball looked at him blankly and nodded, then handed the ball back to him, saying, "Okay...okay."
Bechfinger smiled instantly, took the football, and magically produced several chocolate lollipops in his hand, handing them to them, "Thank you."
The little boys, delighted to receive the candy, thanked the older boy with beaming smiles.
Bechfinger straightened up, turned around, took a few steps toward the bridge, and threw the ball toward the man's knife-wielding hand.
Of course, no one noticed the blackish-blue fluorescence flashing across his hand.
Bang!
The soccer ball struck the man's hand precisely, the large knife fell to the ground, and the man, clutching his hand, half-squatted on the ground.
Yuta turned his head in confusion.
Seeing the ball suddenly fly past, Conan and Ran turned around at the same time, and then saw Behringer wiping non-existent sweat from his forehead.
"That was close! It was just a hair's breadth away."
He seemed quite happy to return to the group.
Ran Mouri and Conan stared at him in disbelief.
Behrfinger winked at them, looking at them with a hint of smugness, like a cute little puppy showing off its good deed. "How about that? I did a good job, right?"
Ran Mouri clapped her hands in a very gracious gesture. For some reason, looking at this boy made her feel a warm glow inside. "You're amazing!" she said.
Conan, who was standing next to him, also smiled and nodded.
"Yuta!"
Dr. Ogawa shouted and, together with Kogoro Mouri, rushed towards Yuta's location.
The other three also ran over.
The lagging Behringer looked utterly dejected.
I definitely shouldn't follow this elementary school student; otherwise, one day's amount of exercise would be equivalent to a week's worth.
Seeing the group of people running towards him, the man quickly picked up the knife that had fallen to the side and grabbed Yuta's shoulder to threaten them.
