Chapter 215 The Thief Who Covets Others' Secrets

Chapter 215 The Thief Who Covets Others' Secrets

Rose Manor.

Some people stayed outside the burned-down wooden huts, while others went to the area around the bombed-out greenhouse.

"What's going on!?" Inspector Megure's face darkened, and he clenched his fists, his eyes sharp as he looked at Keisuke Ibuki.

Keisuke Ibuki remained silent for a while before speaking with some difficulty, "I don't know. I guessed that Chiriwei might eventually burn down this greenhouse, but I didn't expect that a bomb would be planted inside."

Conan wasn't concerned about why there was a bomb; instead, he scanned his surroundings, trying to find someone.

The person has been missing ever since the cabin was discovered to be on fire!

—Hojo Butler!

No, perhaps that wasn't the real Hojo butler!

Conan ran back to the villa, looked around the hall, and then ran upstairs without hesitation. He finally stopped in front of the door marked with the word "Butler," opened the door, and went inside.

The room was brightly lit. 'Butler Hojo' sat on the sofa, calmly taking a sip of tea, and looked at Conan, who was panting slightly, with a smile on his face.

"Greetings, young detective."

Conan glanced at the bed not far away, where the real Hojo butler was lying, who had been unconscious for who knows how long.

After confirming that the other person was only unconscious, Conan clenched his fists, frowned, and looked at 'Hojo Butler', "Are you from the church?"

Isn't this obvious?

He smiled, seemingly unconcerned about the six murders that had occurred that day.

...No, it's not just six murders. If you include Ibuki Chirika and those police officers, it's more than ten lives lost!

"What exactly do you want to do?! You're actually gambling with human lives?!"

Conan gritted his teeth in anger.

"Human life?"

He tilted his head slightly, seemingly puzzled, but with a smile on his face.

He put down his teacup, took out a pair of gold-rimmed glasses from the inside pocket of his suit, and slowly and elegantly put them on, while speaking slowly and deliberately.

"You're mistaken, young detective. We're not betting on human lives, but on humanity."

"Unfortunately, it seems you've lost in both humanity and human life."

He straightened his glasses chain, placed one hand on the sofa armrest, leaned back slightly, and the slight smile on his face, even though he was disguised as an old man, his gentle speech and steady demeanor still exuded elegance.

Conan gritted his teeth slightly, "Humanity?"

“Yes.” R chuckled softly. “Don’t assume you know the whole story.”

"Thieves who love to covet others' secrets."

"However, it's normal for a detective to have some curiosity, but... don't you think what you did was like rubbing salt into Ms. Ibuki Chirika's still-healing wounds?"

R smiled and spoke, while standing up and straightening his clothes. He walked towards the door, paused next to Conan, and whispered something meaningfully.

"Perhaps she wouldn't have died in the first place?"

R glanced at the silent, head-down Corgi with a smile, then strode away, disappearing in an instant before reaching the stairwell, along with the cup of tea on the table in the butler's room.

His words wouldn't damage his detective spirit, but would only strengthen his resolve.

After all, the detectives in this world are like cockroaches that can't be killed.
