Chapter 34 Counterfeit Goods
Not long after, two people walked over, and the man who looked somewhat fat and strong was the victim in this case, Manaka.
As is customary, he exchanged a few sarcastic words with Director Ochiai before turning and walking away to the other side.
"Is this art museum going to close soon?" Qianzhu said with some regret.
Director Ochiai sighed and nodded helplessly. "Yes, the previous owner had no choice but to sell the museum to Mr. Manaka because the company went bankrupt."
"But the previous owner decided to sell it to Mr. Manaka because he said he was willing to continue running the art museum. In the end, that guy actually plans to renovate it into a hotel," Iijima complained from the side.
Clang—
Suddenly a sound came from behind, and everyone turned around to see that Kubota had knocked off the helmet of an armor.
That person assaulted the artwork again...
Conan made a comment.
However, Conan was somewhat surprised that Director Ochiai, who clearly loved art, was not angry at this scene.
"That armor is a replica, not the real thing, so he probably doesn't care."
Qianzhu came to Conan's side, her clear eyes looking at the armor, and said in a gentle voice.
Conan looked up at him, unable to discern for a moment whether his expression was regret, pity, or... sadness.
Qianzhu smiled and turned to look at Xiaolan, "Let's continue watching. I don't know if we'll have another chance to see it again."
"Okay." Xiaolan nodded and followed him inside.
Looking at the art-filled exhibits, Xiaolan's slight regret about the museum's impending demise lessened considerably.
As the group turned the corner, they found a "No Entry" sign placed on the passageway leading to another art exhibition room.
Unfortunately, they had no choice but to go somewhere else.
After spending almost half a day browsing the art museum, Kogoro Mouri and Conan sat back to back, looking utterly exhausted.
"Sister Ran, I'm so tired, let's go back." Conan said in his childish voice, trying to coax her.
"I'm hungry too..." Kogoro said weakly.
"Come on, you're tired after just a few laps? That's terrible! Look at Qianzhu, he doesn't even feel tired!"
Comparing herself to Qianzhu standing beside her, Xiaolan put her hands on her hips and looked at them with dissatisfaction.
Immediately, Qianzhu received two slightly resentful glances. He smiled calmly, showing no intention of speaking up for them.
We haven't even seen the body yet, why are you leaving?
"Hey, Xiaolan, look, the 'No Entry' sign is gone! Shall we go check it out?"
Qianzhu pointed to the dimly lit corridor, ignoring the increasingly resentful gaze behind her, and smiled at Xiaolan.
"Really? Let's go check it out!" Ran looked over in surprise, then looked expectantly at Conan and Kogoro Mouri, "You guys come along too?"
"Huh!?"
Seeing their extremely unwilling expressions, Qianzhu smiled gently, but said with a cunning smile, "Xiaolan, you can let them go back first. Let them cook dinner themselves."
"Yes, let's go take a look."
Feeling that she made a good point, Xiaolan followed Qianzhu and turned to leave, completely ignoring her father-in-law and son-in-law, whose expressions were perfectly synchronized.
But since they couldn't cook, they had no choice but to follow them under duress.
"This room is so dark..." Xiaolan looked around as she held the art museum's brochure.
"Because this is a showcase of hell." The daring Conan walked ahead with his hands in his pockets.
The group walked to the largest painting and exclaimed, "What a huge painting!"
